Best

PRGC really has made a turn around. They have a fantastic facility with every range you could hope for. High power 500/300/200 , pistol, small bore, tactical, archery, and indoor ...

What ever happened to Jack Walker? 12/2/2011

What ever happened to Jack Walker? When he was range master, a lot of stuff got done. The new electric gate and high tech membership badges helped get rid of all the riff-raff trespassing on the range. He also was always available to answer questions and fix a problem. Great guy and really miss him. Sorry that he left and that doff Darrel took over in 2008. more

This Club Is Still Screwed UP! 10/23/2011

Concur with Trick Shot, this place is still screwed up and I will have to disagree with Clubbinaz. In fact I suspect that review was submitted by Bill Pool (past President of PR&GC) or some other officer of this club to make things look all warm and fuzzy. Anyway you cut it; things are not working at this range. Kind of like a dysfunctional family. On one side you have the traditional, died in the wool, competition shooters and on the other are these Wild West, wanabe law enforcement types in the practical arena. The two just don more

Beware of PR&G 8/12/2011

I've been a member here for 8 years, I can't recommend enough looking elsewhere since there are a few good options in the Valley. I decided not to re-up my membership this August. Too many problems with management over the past 3 years, and they are unpleasant and ineffective to deal with. I had a problem come up this year where suddenly (and for n reason) my gate access code was not working. I was told that George was the only one who could help me, and it literally took 9 days to get any return contact from George. In the meantime I could not enter the facility. The range in general is very poorly kept up. Trash accumulates in the cans at times to the point of overflow, ranges are unkempt, and target stands are typically in serious need of repair or replacement. This has been ongoing since the new group took over running PR&G. It's a shame, this place was a good value, centrally located, friendly range. It's been run like a third rate range the past several years, making me wonder if the lack of care isn't because it's absentee owned. No care or concern for the range, no hope in sight. more

Welcoming and convenient for much of the valley 3/28/2011

The folks who run the public range are terrific, and the people I've interacted with at invitational matches have been just great. There's a strong but pleasant attention to safety and to welcoming newcomers, and I show up with my wife and my son and we shoot, simple as that. It's really nice for those of us who don't live anywhere near Ben Avery or Rio Salado or out in unincorporated desert to have an outdoor range to use. more

Best Conventional Pistol (Bullseye) Location in the State 12/13/2010

Overall a very good club. PR&GC is easily the best Bulls Eye shooting venue in the state; and, very possible the south west. National Champions, Olympians, Olympic hopefuls, High Masters and Master level shooters attend matches regularly and give great tips and advice to those of us working our way out of plinker class!! more

Parting ways after 20 years 1/6/2009

As a 20 plus year member, I have had it with this club. Don Reed and his band of pirates has Pros: Nothing good left in this club Cons: Board of directors out of touch with reality more

NRA Cult 12/9/2008

stay far away from this place, you'll get what you pay for with the 100 dollars for the year membership, they handle the crowds by being as cold and unwelcoming as possible, non-members stay away!!!!!! on Saturdays and Sundays it is extremely crowded and employees will do everything they can to make sure that you do not ""get in the way"" of the members. (be prepared to get kicked out). It is more like an NRA cult then a gun club, don't waste your time or money, there are plenty of professional gun clubs in AZ do not even consider this one as an option. Pros: close in city limits Cons: back country politics and hillbilly board members more

Why I Resigned From P$&GC Board of Directors 2/12/2008

This is a copy of my resignation letter from the PR&GC Board of Directors Pros: Once was one of the best shooting clubs in the valley! Cons: Small group of people controls the direction of club more

An accident waiting to happen! 1/4/2008

This club is an accident waiting to happen. The Public Range shoots directly inline with the Max Delta Trail on South Mountain City Park. Hikers, joggers, and horseback riders are subject to direct fire from this range and ricochets. It is a miracle that someone hasn?t been shot out right or seriously injured (thrown from a spooked horse by a ricochet). Pros: Shooting Range within Phoenix city limits Cons: Back room politics and nepotism more
