In fact, their sandwiches are better than the originals according to everone that has tasted both! I am traditionally a hamburger eater and dislike other sandwiches because they are mostly bread to fill you up. Philly Subs has more "filler" than bread... Much more meat and more vegetables to your liking. Each sandwich is built to your specifications and made to order - nothing is under a heat lamp waiting for you to come in (unless you call in your order ahead of time, that is). There are also some sandwiches I never heard of before: i.e. muffaletas, falafels...., but I've sampled them all and their isn't one I dislike. In fact, I'm not a fan of chicken sandwiches anywhere except here as the white meat is mostly very dry and quite often not breast meat at other places, but quite juicy and only breast meat at PS. Philly Subs sells only the best cuts of meat and they are never frozen. Subway can claim to be fresh - but they can't beat Philly Subs.
Philly Subs doesn't advertise much, if at all. But once you are a customer, you are hooked... not on substances like they claim McDonald's uses to get you to come back, but on the taste of real food, always fresh daily, and made right in front of you. It's not "fast food" but fine food done fairly fast.
It may sound like I'm biased - but if it wasn't for a friend telling me about the place, I would never have found it. I just want to pass on the favor. I'm not a fan of the phrase "best kept secret", but it really pertains to this establishment. Don't go there if you won't be able to go back. It's not a once-in-a-lifetime place - you will be hooked!
Pros: Best sandwiches anywhere - too much to eat for most
Cons: Hard to find - parking somewhat limitied
