As far as the desk staff, be prepared to have to be assertive and ask them questions! Do not assume that they will let you know what’s going on. They never prepared me a payment plan, or gave me any documentation to take home at all. Every appointment, when I checked out, I asked about when/how I needed to pay. I was told by many different people on many different occasions, vague statements such as that I would be billed later. They treated me as if they just wanted me out of the way. Then all of sudden about 6 months into my pregnancy, they tell me that I am 3 months behind on payment, have the manager come talk to me ( in front of the waiting room clients, might I add) about how I can't be seen unless I can't work out how I'm going to pay. I was treated like a criminal. After explaining to the manager how I felt, she went to my chart to show me the payment plan that I ""signed"", only there was not one in there!!
The nursing staff is sorry as well. I don't know how many times I've come in for such a blood draw, and after telling the desk staff and the nurse, they still take me to the exam room, where I have to wait even longer. Every time, the Dr. has to tell the nurses, ""she’s just getting a blood draw"", then I get charged for a blood draw AND a consultation. The lab lady is also no pleasant visit. She always bruises me, and she hurts very much!!! Once, she drew blood, took out the needle, and after realizing that she forgot to get a drop for a fingerstick, and started squeezing my arm incredibly hard to get a drop to come out. It didn't work, so she just had to do a fingerstick. If she hadn't been too busy talking to a coworker about her personal life, I wouldn't have gone through all that unnecessary pain.
I dread every visit to this place. It's so unorganized. And the staff all seems to be so entranced with their own lives that they can't concentrate on their own work.
