Best

Kristina was awesome and greeted us at the door and then continued to help us the whole time we were in the store. I've never experienced such great customer service!

Worst

We used to go whenever we can to look at puppies here. We were about buying and now are serious about ADOPTING a puppy. One visit, one employee sprayed Windex solution on a puppy...

Environmentally friendly 8/24/2011

I own several of Petland's animals including two dogs and a kitten. My animals are all awesome! I fell in love with them right away. Petland's friendly staff & environment was also a major factor in me purchasing my animals here. Thanks Petland! more

OWNER SCREAMS BUY OR GET OUT! 3/31/2011

We used to go whenever we can to look at puppies here. We were about buying and now are serious about ADOPTING a puppy. One visit, one employee sprayed Windex solution on a puppy's eyes and another day we went and saw feces everywhere and when asked to look at a puppy, Mary, said playing with puppies was not allowed unless we buy a puppy that day. How are you supposed to see if the puppy is a good fit or not without any contact with it? After that we didn't go for months and yesterday we went and we asked to see a teddy bear puppy and when asking the employee to play with it, the owner comes to us and tells the employees to ignore us. He told us we can not look at the puppies unless we buy one and even suggested us to get out if we don't have money! I even asked him where he gets his dogs from and told me that the puppies are from Petland breeders. Puppy mills! Puppy mills! Funny, how the owner smiles at you and then when you don't buy anything turns into something pure evil. Please do not go here! Dog Patch in Naperville is great and shelters have cute puppies too! Please! Please! Do not go here! PUPPY MILLS! I can't stress enough! Rude service and being yelled by the owner to buy or leave is your thing, then check it out. This review does not due justice to bring out the evil in the employees and the abuse placed on the puppies. No words to express the troubles. Please STAY AWAY!!!!! more

Terrible Business Practices 3/31/2011

My girlfriend and I were looking for the perfect puppy and had played with many at Petland. None was quite right for us, but we continued to visit with hope that the next trip would yield that perfect pup. Once we met the owner and he was friendly, telling us to come to him if we wanted to see a puppy. That all changed drastically tonight. more

Terrible & money hungry.. 3/20/2011

They make you buy things you don't need. I wanted to buy a bird for my niece who has all supplies already. They won't sell the bird alone... need to buy all kinds of other stuff. It's not a option.. They make you feel like you don't know how to care for an animal as if everyone was careless. Bottom line is they want to make more money on you and don't give you the choice... Never again. more

Perfect Pet 6/21/2010

I completely disagree with all of the posts and makes me wonder what the type of people are that are writing these comments. We picked out a gorgeous Teddy Bear puppy. Everyone was great in helping us choose him and we are postively thrilled with him. They were not at all pushy, and infact were extremely patient and even let us leave him there after we purchased him for a few days. They were the kindest sales people but we also treated them nicely - treat others as you expect to be treated. Simba is truly part of our family now and we couldn't be happier. Mary & Felicia went above and beyond what was needed and I would recommend them and this Petland location. They won't sell you an animal without taking the animals care in to account - they truly care for the animals there. I have spoken to Mary & Felicia since purchasing Simba and they were very polite and helpful even though I wasn't spending any money, just asking questions. Give respect and you'll receive it! Deserve an animal and they will provide. Pros: Excellent Service more

Will not be back again 4/5/2010

I only give it one because zero is not available. I cannot believe how rude Mary, the store manager, was. As a paying customer I couldn't believe how bad I was treated. She refused to sell me an animal unless I would buy all the supplies with it (I had informed her that I already had the needed supplies). She was only worried about how much money she could make off of me. She also appeared to have a love for animals but I noticed the guinea pigs (who are quite skiddish by nature) were located under and next to the squawking birds. Hmmm. From the moment I first spoke with her she was extremely condescending and went of her way to make me aware that she knew best for everything. I had never been to a Petland before and after this service I will never return to ANY of them again. Mary, the store manager, ruined this for me. Pros: Nothing Cons: The management more

They dont know what there talking about 2/24/2010

I agree and disagree with the previous post. I have gone to other petlands i.e. in Bowling Brook, Crest Hill. Its a shame that this particular petland gives the others a bad name. It is true that the employees work on commission but they dont get a percentage from what they sell, they only get a bonus, and they still get minimum wage. Petland does care about there pets, the reason they push pet owners to buy extra stuff is so that the puppies can go home and live comfortably. You cant just buy a pet without the right things for it. People are idiots and dont educate themselves on what they need for there pets. They think a bed, food, and water is enough and its not they need A LOT of things...... I normally like to shop around at pet stores to see what else i can add to my pets comfort. I have noticed that petland usually does sell there items for a bit more then they usually do at a local petsmart or petco. Each petland is individually owned so they may all set there prices as they please (this petland in particular has the highest prices). The difference is that petland has some good inexpensive kits and a one year membership card (takes 10% off of regular priced items) that cost $10 or so. The main reason i dont like this petland is because of the customer service and the lack of training provided to the employees. The owner (jim) and the store manager (mary) are horrible when it comes to training there staff, and taking care of a customer. I have heard from other customers that they are always snotty and have attitudes (i have experienced this myself) I would never shop at that store because i know i can get better deals some where else and get treated how i deserve. The petland in Bowling brook is great at it, not only that, they know what there talking about and wlll educate you as needed. so ""In conclusion"" dont waist your time going to THIS PARTICULAR Petland. Pros: none at this location Cons: Sit down its gonna take a while. more

Horrible Horrible Pet Store 7/6/2009

All of the puppies are from puppy mills, frequently with all sorts of medical issues. The employees work on ""commission"" for less than minimum wage, so they're constantly trying to snipe sales from each other. Their policy is ""sell to the customer NO MATTER THE COST TO THE ANIMAL."" They don't care about the animals, they don't care about you having the correct supplies for the animals, they only care about making as much money as possible. To this end, they will sell you items you don't need and overprice everything they can. The poor employees are forced into this horrible competitive mode by the owners who ruthlessly terminate anybody who doesn't make their so-called ""commission."" They're not about finding caring loving homes for pets, they're only about turning a profit and don't give a flying {censored} about either the animals they sell or the people they employ. Don't support Petland! Pros: None. Cons: Everything. more
