Best Greek Food in Denver 1/26/2009

I Love Petes Central One It has the best greek food in Denver. And also the service is wonderful. Its always nice to go into a restaurant where you know all the waitstaff and there friendly and your service is always on time. Not only that but all the waitresses are pretty damn good looking! I love this place, come to Central One you wont be dissapointed. more

Best homeade greek food in Denver, from chef Amalia 12/12/2008

Everybody that comes to this restaurant always talks about the manager and his free shots of ouzo, but the real person that keeps this business alive is Amalia the head chef and the life of this restaurant, without her the place is dead. Pouring ouzo all night is not a skill anybody can do that, lets give the credit to the person that really deserves it the chef who feeds everybody that comes there. She is an amazing woman who cooks all the food, if you come there just for the ouzo then just go to the liquor store. Do you come for the food or the free liquor? Ouzo costs about $12.99 Lets give the credit to the person who deserves it. Not to the host who takes all the credit. more

Authentic Greek Goodies and Friendly Service Keep Us Coming Back 5/12/2008

We happened upon Pete's accidentally. We dropped in another of Pete's restaurants, on Colfax, a Diner that serves Gyro meat with omelettes, breakfasts, and other goodies. When I asked for a more Mediterranean-Greek restaurant, the hostess told me about Pete's Central, and gave me directions there. Pros: Fabulous, Authentic Food, served by people who are proud to do so! Cons: It's not closer to my home! more

Pete's Central One 4/18/2008

My family has been in the restaurant business in Houston for over 85 years. We are Greek and my daughter got married and moved to Denver last year. We have been to Petes EVERYTIME we come to visit her. This is a great restaurant run by great people. They have great food and the BEST Baklava we have ever had!! You should give this great little restaurant a try!! thanks, TS Pros: Great atmosphere, great food and great people more

OPA! Tasty Greek Food Here 1/21/2007

It doesn't look like much from the outside -- presumably that is why there is always a sign outside reminding you that the place is open -- but don't make the mistake of passing by Pete's Central One. Once inside, you'll find a cozy space with a neighborhood feel, friendly service, and some of the most delicious Greek food to be found anywhere in town. It would be tempting to fill up on the addictive saganaki (flaming cheese), but be warned: Pace yourself. The portions here are VERY generous, and each entree comes with soup (the lemony chicken and rice soup is awesome) and salad. For the amount and quality of the food you get, Central One is an amazing value. You will likely leave with leftovers, and get to enjoy it all over again the next day. OPA! Pros: Friendly, neighborhood feel; delicious Greek food; great value Cons: Lack of parking more

Fun Manager and great service 12/14/2006

Every time we come into Pete's Central One, we have a great time. The manager always makes us feel as though we are welcome. The ouzo is a definite must try as well as the flaming cheese. The place is small and intimate. We enjoy the chicken greek salad with lots of feta. The portions are huge and decently priced. I am really upset that someone gave such a bad rating, we enjoy this restaurant and will keep coming back for years to come. Pros: Fun manager, intimate setting, good food, inexpensive Cons: Parking is up the street more

Pretty good greek 10/18/2006

We live in the neighborhood and have eaten here several times. I've sat inside, on the patio (delightful on a warm night-though close to busy Alameda) and done carry-out(quick, never had anything left out). The food is consistently above average, the service is always polite and pleasant. I'm really very surprised with the terrible review this place got. I'd recommend it for a casual inexpensive lunch or dinner or a quick and easy carry-out option. more

The worst meal I have ever paid for 6/13/2006

Do NOT eat here. The food is terrible, frozen vegetables, canned soup, awful service. Only five tables in the restaurant and it took 20 minutes just to get our drinks. The food was so awful it was unedible. If you like frozen vegetables and overcooked dry meat, this is the place for you. Otherwise, this is the worst meal I have ever encountered in a restaurant. It is sickening that a place like this that serves such disgusting food, is even in business. I was absolutely horrified. TV dinners are better and a better value. Avoid at all costs! more
