I had a very good experience at Peterson. I left 4 pieces to be matted and framed after an extensive discussion on both style options and budget. Mike was helpful in pointing out positive and negative points and accommodating my budget. I wanted the framing to be high quality and all 4 pieces were to have the same mat and frame size. Framing was on time and excellent. In hanging the 4 pieces next to each other, I noticed that one frame was less than 1/4"" larger than the others. Mike corrected the frame/mat in a week's time, no charge, with a smile. I was very pleased with the final outcome. more

I recently had a piece framed for a going away present for my boss. My co-workers and I wanted something a little more high-quality than the pre-fab frames you can get at IKEA or even at art supply stores. While preparing artwork to display in a group thesis exhibition at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I decided I would need to select a mat and frame to properly present a series of photographs. I went to a custom frame maker in the loop area, but they were unable to accommodate either my time-line, or price range. I was quickly running out of time, and found out about Peterson. I called and spoke to a designer who met with me that afternoon. He helped me make an informed decision and select materials that I really felt were right-on for my artwork. Despite the fact that I had a very specific presentation in mind, I was able to pick my photos up within 2-days, and the cost was significantly less than what I had been quoted downtown. I was not pleased with the service I received at Peterson. They have a very lackluster selection. I could have got better and much cheaper frames at Ikea. I expect creativity from a custom framer and they didn't have it. Designers would be well advised to use a different frame shop.
