Petco

Last week, I had to pop in to pick up a few items. The store was not busy and the staff person on duty walked me through my entire visit. She helped me find everthing I needed and gave me great advice for a problem I have been having with my dog. Of course, I went on a weekday afternoon, so it wasn't like it was the weekend rush. It was refreshing to receive such nice customer service. more

I would not get all my pet supplies in this Petco. The store is small and crowded. However, if I need to run in for something quick when I am in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, this is the place for me. We have gotten some great dog toys at this shops. They also offer grooming services, but I have not tried them. more

Before you read on let me explain myself. I used to work at a Petco in Maryland a while ago. It was clean, the animals were well taken care of, and the employees really cared about animals and the people who shopped there. It was a very pleasant store to work in and visit. So, when I visited the Petco in Arlington I was shocked! The animals looked unhealthy and the store appeared dirty and dusty. When you take care of animals, first rule of thumb: make sure that they have plenty of water. I saw lizards and hamsters alike with no water in their cages. Needless to say I was very disappointed. The employees were nice, so perhaps they were just overworked and I came in at a bad time. But that is really no excuse. I would never shop there. more
