PetSmart

I always take my dogs with me when I have to work out of town. I was working in the Raleigh, NC area during 2/13 and took my 12 year old Shih Tzu to be groomed. I took a very large picture of him so the groomer would know what he is supposed to look like when she groomed him. About one hour after dropping him off the vet hospital called me, so I had to return to the store. The groomer had shaved a layer of his left pad off the bottom of his paw. The vet hospital was really good about taking care of his injury and giving me antibotics to help prevent infection. Before I arrived they had already taken him back to grooming to finish his grooming. Upon my arrival they brought him to me and it was obvious he was hurting AND the girl had not groomed him the way he was supposed to be.....he didn't even look like the same dog. On top of that, his ears were dirty inside and she hadn't cleaned the hair out of his ears. When I was finished in the vets office I had to go to the grooming dept to get his collar and picture. The receptionist looked at me like ""what are you back in here for?"" I told her I needed his collar and she handed it to me. Then, I told her I needed his picture even though it didn't help and the groomer came over and handed it to me and turned and walked away. It was obvious she didn't care, nor did the receptionist. Neither offered an apology and in fact made me feel like ""I"" had done something wrong. I had to go back the day to get him some pain meds and I have to take him back to the vet on Monday to have them recheck his paw. This was a horrible experience and the girls who worked the grooming dept that day were NOT professionals in ANY sense of the word. I called the manager of PetSmart and told him of our experience and he apologized. I didn't have to pay for the grooming (it was a horrible job, uneven, dirty ears, hair in ears and the injury), nor did I have to pay for the vet fees. My Rusty is still walking around, as much as he can, with his tiny paw bandaged up and not feeling good. I would NOT take my dogs to this place again.....the grooming staff that I dealt with were HORRIBLE!!! more

I have had my Shi-Zhu groomed for the past 8 years and never really been happy with the results. No matter how specific and clear I am with the instructions groomers seem to do what they want not what I ask them to do. more

My dog just loves it here. When I was in there the other day, another customer came in and asked the two girls grooming if they recognized the little poodle she had with her. She said she had found the dog. Both girls stopped what they were doing and looked at the dog, One said ""It kinda looks like a dog we groom"" She looked up the dog, called the owner and it was that persons dog. I was amazed that out of what has to be 100s of animals they recognized this one poodle and was able to get it back home. I would trust them with my dog anytime! more
