My comment is concerning the unprofessionalism of the management team at the Mobile, AL location.\r
I interviewed for the Operations Mgr. position in Oct. 2012, and after my interview with the store manager, the district manager wanted to interview me as well. The store mgr. at that time called to confirm my availability for a certain day, and the interview was set. \r
I showed up early for the interview, walked around the store, and at the allotted time, I asked for the district manager. He wasn't at the store yet. The store manager was also off that day. After walking around for an hour, the MOD called the district manager, and the district manager apologized through the MOD that he never got the confirmation. I waited another week to go to the interview. I waited another month until I was finally told by the manager that they were promoting an employee from another location. This was not a problem other than the time involved by me, and not getting a courtesy call on their decision. It was supposedly between me and one other person.\r
This year, 2013, I sent in an application for a store managers position. During the interview with the district manager the previous year, he said based on my experience, I would be a manager in a year. So, when the ad was placed for the store manager position, I sent my application in again-via online service.\r
The district manager remembered me, and forwarded my application on to the store manager of the local Mobile, AL store. Since I had applied for store manager, my application went directly through to the district manager.\r
The local store manager called me in for an interview for the operations manager. The same position that I had applied for a year earlier. I had my interview, and at the end of the interview, I asked if I would get a call. He assured me that he would call me either way. \r
I explained the problem with the scheduling the previous year and he again said he would call me either way and he was wanting to make his decision by the end of the week. This was on a Saturday, so I expected a call by that following Friday. Friday comes and goes. I wait until the following Friday. He said he was going to sit with his district manager later the next week and they would decide who they were going to offer the job too.\r
I waited another week and a half to call again.\r
After calling again, I was told that they decided to hire someone else. I just thanked him for the phone call (think it went over his head).\r
I had already figured that I did not want to work for a company that couldn't make a decision. I've been a store manager for quite a few years. I would have taken a demotion to take this job, but it would have paid more than I am currently making. \r
Petsmart needs to understand the importance of keeping their word. If you say something, then do it.\r
They have lost a customer in me. Not because I didn't get the job, but due to the unprofessionalism shown at this store. \r
I work for a specialty close-out store and know we get a lot of customers buying pets toys and treats from us cause they can get them cheaper. Their are a lot of business' that sell the same thing cheaper. I will support their business instead of Petsmart.
