This place has a very nice atmosphere;except for the food. The rice is terrible and so are the re-fried beans. The food comes out warm instead of hot. The enchiladas are awful , they should learn how to make them like Chuy;s . I recommend it only for drinks nothing more . Oh and their table salsa is terrible as well more

The food was not incredibly bad but the service was HORRIBLE! Particularly at the Sonterra location. We waited forever for drinks, refill, chips, and our food. Once the food finally came out it was that great, especially for waiting so long. more

Dinner at Pericos on Sonterra was awesome. I ate at the bar and the guys love being there. It was almost like the bartenders were putting on a show. They were busy but kept up with conversation. Oh and those Tacos Ricos are awesome. more

Once upon a time...long long ago, Perico's was a great mexican food choice. Somewhere around 2004-2005, things went downhill, and never rebounded. Fajita meat is salty and tough, they no longer serve the creamy green sauce with the chips, and food never comes out hot anymore..just lukewarm. I continue to give this place teh benefit of the doubt, returning 2-3 times each year only to reaffirm my last opinion...with so many outstanding mexican restaurants in SA...and a comparably priced but superior Salsalito less than a mile away, I am done with Pericos. more

This a very clean Mexican Rest., we have been their many times the past 6 yrs and the service is good. Yes it does get busy on weekends, but patience and it's worth the while.The food is good and hot , and the drinks are good also.You must try their Victoria Secert drink..it's the best.\r Their enchiladas are great and also their tacos as well. Their bath rooms are very clean and their hostess Missy n Joey are great . So yes I highly recommend this place. more

We live in neighborhood and like this place. We have always gotten fairly good service but after reading other's reviews I get that this may not be the norm. A waitress named jazz took care of us more than once and she is top notch. The food has always been quite good and the menu is diverse. They have good mole worth mentioning. Now the thing I don't like about them is a biggie...the default yellow cheese they use is plain old American cheese!!! Yes even on their enchiladas!!! I thought I was imagining things so I asked a waiter and yep, the only way to get tacos or enchiladas or anything else there to not be made with American cheese is to ask for whatever your ordering to be made with white cheese which is Monterrey Jack.. What a bummer man--parking shortfalls are nothing compared to wanting to bring your own cheese to a restaurant. Mariachi music played live was quite a treat on the weekend but they were hard to hear over the noise of people talking loudly. I wish they had come to our table but they didn't get around to us, partly due to our coming late no doubt.. We're going again tonight and to assure good service and food will ask for Jazz and white cheese only. Average food & average prices. Music way too loud at times to enjoy atmosphere because you cannot hear what your friends are saying. Mexican food is my favorite, so I expect better. Very attentive service (the managers must be reading Citysearch). Excellent salsa, cheese enchiladas with beef fajita meat, homemade corn and flour tortillas. Every table had at least one kid and at least one margarita (but none of the kids were drinking margaritas!) Great patio (Bandera location) and live music on Thursday, Fri, Sat. I'll go back. We went to Pericos for my birthday lunch with family and friends. We sat outside, and the rest. was not very busy (5-6 tables occup.) Our server was very quite and misunderstood everything we ordered. We only saw him once between the time we ordered and the time we rec'd our food. When our food arrived ( 50 min. later!!!), two orders were wrong, two were cold and my meal was missing! We got ahold of our server to make him aware of the mistakes and he looked dazed. So he went back and put in my meal order. 25 minutes later my meal still wasn't out. At this point my guests were done and I was aggrivated. The manager came over and made excuses but still didn't get my food out. We left very upset, without cutting the cake and the manager took 25% off out meal. Needless to say, we had a horrible time. We live near this resturant and saw it go up...been in it about 5 times over the past 5 years now. \r If you can stand bad service (that is if you actually get someone to take your order), the food it actually good.\r Over the years the service has been getting worse. THis past Dec 2007, we felt like trying it one more time - it had been a year since our last bad service experience. We had hoped that it would improve. Well after being seated fairly quickly. We waited for nearly 20-minutes!!!! before we told them we were leaving for NO ONE came by to get our drink order. This was when the place was at 40% capacity and there were wait staff seating or standing and chatting up with other customers.\r \r The bad!\r TERRIABLE SERVICE!!!! We have had it and will no longer go here any more.\r \r The good;\r if you actually get food - it should be good. Pros: The food if you get it. Cons: THE WORST SERVICE - - EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! more

The kinda establishment where you can take clients for lunch, have a drink in the evening, listen to live music on the weekends and have a nice Sunday lunch with the Family. Fair prices, great drinks and the service is excellent. Pros: Prices, food, drinks, live music, two locations. Cons: Wish they were open later on the weekends. more

My husband and myself took 4 friends from out of town to this restuarant, only to have our evening RUINED by HORRIBLE customer service on the part of the MANAGER!!!! It was so BAD that we where all very ANGRY through out our meal and afterwards! Had we not waited an hour to eat WE WOULD HAVE LEFT THE RESTAURANT WITHOUT EATING! \r \r It was probably one of my WORST experiences at a restaurant ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get here early, parking is at a premium. Fantastic staff, great drinks (try a parrot tail on Tuesdays), incredible food. The salsa brought to the table with in seconds of sitting down is so fresh and flavorful. Try the charro beans as opposed to refried for a great experience. They have great lunch specials during the week and breakfast on weekends. You can call and place an order to go. Can you tell this is my favorite place to eat at? If you prefer local restaurants over big chains and are in the mood for Mexican food Perico's is definitely the place to go. The chilli relleno was delicious. I also recommend a mango margarita. We went on a Friday night and the place was packed so get there early. This is a great family place or place to entertain out of town guests. more

If you are tired of the tourist trap that is the Riverwalk, head out of downtown and make your way to Perico's. Very reasonable priced, this tucked away gem is a local's place but should be the place tourist come for the real Tex Mex experience. The margaritas are huge and strong, the salsa is fresh and the best I've had in San Antonio, the menu has many outstanding meals most under $9. Live music on weekends and special occasions, a must visit place if you live in San Antonio and a place to go for those watching their pocketbooks while in SA. While not taking reservations, the management worked very hard to accommodate my group of 14 and mangaged to seat us all together. The waiter was very attentive and provided excellent service. I was extremely pleased with the courtesy shown my group and the very pleasurable dining experience we shared. Great job!
