Pep Boys

As a young person with little money to spend fixing my car, and a delivery driver that needs their car to work, I've tried on multiple occasions to use pep boys as a nearby repair place. The first time, they told me that, despite their many POWER tools and such, they couldn't change my oil because they couldn't get the oil pan nut off. My boyfriend did it the next day, by hand. How this makes sense, i will never know, but this was nothing compared to the next visit i had. My car was overheating, because there was air in the coolant line, and that blew my old bleeder valve off. So, i bought the part, and called pep boys for a quote on a "coolant bleeder valve and the transfer tube thingy" and was greeted with a mere $90 labor price. Awesome! So the next day i towed my car there, and showed them the part and, "it's going to be $600". Excuse me? I towed my car elsewhere, and was told $200, which was fine. I complained on their website and the manager called me to apologize (i am sure it was forced) and then stated ""Women can get emotional when they get something wrong, and it's in their nature to not know what car parts they're talking about"". So, not only due to their lack of service, but now sexism is on their list of reasons to avoid this place like the plague. more

took my truck in because of a loose driveshaft/u-joint. After searching phoenix no "kits" were available for fix because my shaft was an expensive aluminum one. After 2 days of searching, they found one in Tucson and called me. Their diligence saved me $480 more

I brought my truck in because it was leaking a lot of oil. They said that I would have to pay for a oil diagnostic. I was impressed that they had such a service. The diagnostic indicted sever leaks and it would cost $500 + to fix. A lot of money but at least it would be fixed. On the way home 6.2 miles I did my own diagnostic. I drove it and the engine got hot! When I park it at home within 15 minutes there was a 3" pool of oil under the truck. On my way back to PEP I had another diagnostic, I had to stop the truck because there was a lot of smoke coming from under the hood. I discovered that it was the oil hitting the hot exhaust.\r \r PEP Boys looked at the truck and told me that it was an oil leak and it would cost me another $500+. Have only used the store, not the auto service. Employees have been helpful and know exactly where to find what you're looking for. The store is clean and open and easy to navigate with "departments" clearly labeled. Prices seem fine and some advertised deals make it an extra bargain. Checkout on a Saturday afternoon went quickly. more

I like using the Pepboys In Glendale Because they are conveniently close and usually have chat I am looking for. They sometimes seam a bit under staffed & it gets hard to get someone to help you. But the priceing is good as well. more
