I have been here for a French Tuesdays event plus a work event. I haven't had the chance to stay yet, but when I have friends from out of town come in I'll refer them here. The ba...

I'm sorry - I have to line up with those that thought this place wasn't worth the hype. We had a party of 11 last night, and first they couldn't figure out how to set up the tabl...

CHI is GREAT!!! 9/7/2004

I went to dine at Chi w/ my boyfriend and some friends recently and we had a GREAT experience! Its true the menu has changed a little, less dim sum, more traditional appetizers and entrees - however, the food was excellent! The halibut (entree) was the group favorite and we all enjoyed the lobster tempura roll (appetizer). Compliments also go to the steak filet and crabcake! The cocktails were dee-lish! As for service, the hostesses were super friendly as was our server who was also super prompt. We loved the music and decor -- what a relief to find a great spot on the sunset strip!!!!!! Pros: Excellent service, Stellar Food, Beautiful more

VERY VERY BAD 8/2/2004

Went there Sat night for dinner with friends. Tons of empty tables, we were seated in the WAY back next to a table of tourists in shorts with a crying infant. When we asked if we could be seated on the patio where there was nothing but empty tables, we were told that they were all booked up by special request only and could not accomadate us. So we ordered drinks and some appetizers and listened to really loud bad rock music. The food came and boy were we disappointed. The hamachi was fishy tasting. Needless to say, all of our seafood tasted fishy. Our bill was $160 for this sorry food. Oh, and when we left, those precious tables in the patio were STILL EMPTY! So rude! Never again. Pros: It's pretty Cons: , Snobby service more

Small Portions and Bad service 7/19/2004

I went to this place and though the food tasted pretty good the portions were small for the price and served only luke warm. They got my friends order wrong who was vegetarian (and served her meat even after specifying vegetarian), and made no real apology or recompense on the bill. Pros: Nice decor Cons: , Small portions, Not great service more

Place has really nice decor and awesome ambience. The chocolate suffle and Lychee martini was fantastic. But it cost us $50 bucks just for 2 drinks and a dessert. Not sure if a martini is worth $16 each. But overall, it's a great place to try. Be sure to sit in front of the fire pit. It's beautiful. Pros: great dessert, great martini more

Why the negative reviews??? 6/14/2004

Saturday night dinner w/ my girlfriends was a blast. True, dim sum servings are really small (2 or 3 pcs @), but no doubt tasty and delicious. We ordered about 8 plates to share, plus 2 desserts & 2 drinks, & surprised the bill was only $150(pretax & tip). Highly recommended: scallops & lobster dim sum, choco souffle, bananas foster, tantric kiss (worth it @ $14!). Service was excellent & we were seated promptly. Valet was efficient, too. Plus, the ambience was really nice. Will come back! Pros: Yummy dim sum, Reasonably Priced, Great atmosphere Cons: , Not too many entrees more

Over-priced! 6/7/2004

This place needs to get over the fact that it's "Justin Timberlake's place." I've been to many restaurants in L.A. but never to one that made me feel like they were doing me a favour letting me through the door. After waiting 15 minutes to be ackowledged, my husband and I were directed to the bar until our table was "ready." The cocktails had an original flair, but $14.00 for one cocktail!??? Just as I was wondering if they'd forgotten us, someone came to take us to our place among the many empty tables in the main dining area. We noticed wait staff hanging around doorways chatting amongst themselves, and our waitress, who was new, didn't bring us any water until were asked a third time. Altough the food was excellent, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless you you really enjoy spending a fortune being ignored at "Justin's place." Pros: Good Food, Interesting decor Cons: , Over priced more

A must! 5/2/2004

Excellent ambience. It's a great place to go on a date. The red, dim lighting is marvelous and had it not been Thursday night, we would have stayed there hours past 1AM (which is when we finally left). Pros: ambience, service, food more

Expect the worst 4/11/2004

The food was horrible! I think they assumed they didn't need good food because Justin rakes in the customers. Well I can honestly say it was the worst food I'ved had. Have you ever had microwaved chinese food, because thats what it taste like. Although this place is very cute its good to just have drinks and hang out. Pros: Ambience more

Not Very Good 3/27/2004

I was looking forward to this restaurant but was very disappointed. It looks great, but the service was poor. Although I was expecting the portions to be small, they were miniscule. The scallops and crabcakes were very salty. We had to go out to eat after havind dinner here. Pros: Great Decor more

A must Chi 2/18/2004

After hearing some so-so things, I was definitely surprised. The food was great. Try the lobster potstickers, the shrimp har gow, vegetable curry, tuna tar tar, and the fresh crab cakes. As far as entree's I really liked the filet and the gift wrapped sea bass. The D.J. was great, playing the best variety, the servers are beautiful and very sweet, and the decor is something out of NYC, not LA. The restaurant is situated both in and outdoors so guests can smoke and drink next to the firepit or at a table outside. The drinks are awesome as well. I had the Mojito, and my friend had the asian pear martini. Try going on a Tuesday night so you can go to the rooftop club after you dine, or on a Thurs or weekend when there is stuff to do on the strip. Pros: Great dim sum, specialty drinks, good tunes Cons: , but worth it! more

I guess... whatever. 2/11/2004

I made a reservation way in advance for a Saturday night, the hostesses are very nice and friendly. They were not as busy as I expected- we got a seat near the fire pit. Very cool atmosphere and design. We ordered quite a few things, but the only dish I enjoyed was the Pad Thai. Lobster Potstickers were terrible and BBQ pork buns were alright. The Le-Chi martini was awesome (but also $16). You must have the chocolate soufle cake- simply amazing. The waiter was rude and kept telling us JT was coming so we'd order more drinks. JT was really on tour in Manchester, England at the time. Pros: Cheap valet, Very cool design, Chocolate Soufle Cake Cons: , Small portions more

poor service 2/10/2004

It is not the place to dine but rather to have some drinks and don't expect a good service because it takes 20 to 30 minutes to order for drinks and the food comes even later than that. You will spend more time getting anxious and angry than having a good time. Pros: new place more

Wine and Wine... not Wine and Dine 2/7/2004

I absolutely love the atmosphere of the restaurant. Like others, I wouldn't recommend eating there to get a meal. Maybe for drinks and a light meal before hitting the strip. The service was prompt and overall, it was better than I expected. Thumbs up to JT and company. Pros: Drinks, Atmosphere more

Drinks...maybe 1/23/2004

The food was god-awful at this very cool restaurant. It's too bad, because you want to like it because you feel so cool when you're sitting in the relaxing couch-chairs. Too bad...so sad. Overpriced, horrible food, almost as bad service. Stay away! Pros: Atmosphere, Outdoor patio Cons: Teenieboppers, Overpriced, Under-flavored more

Great Ambiance 1/3/2004

We went to this restaurant Saturday night and we had a great time. The place is decorated beautifully and the out door patio is great for mingling and smoking. The food was average and a bit pricey but you can always go there for drinks. Pros: ambiance, decor, outdoor patio Cons: price more

chi the place to be 12/21/2003

my girlfriend and I kept hearing about jt's new restaurant so we had to try it. we went in last saturday for my girlfriends birthday and had dinner. the place was really cool, we're smokers so we appreciated the fire area and that you can smoke while you are having dinner. the waitress was really nice and she even had the manager come over and open our bottle of wine for us. we felt like celebs. the food was really good, the portions were a little bit small but we managed to fill up. we are coming back again for sure!! thanks chi for a great night. Pros: atmosphere, smoking patio, service Cons: small portions, crowded, parking more

Get over it! 12/17/2003

I went to Chi last week for dinner with friends. I made reservations a couple of days before going for Friday night. We had no problems from getting our table, to drinks, to dinner and to desserts. The portions are a bit small but the ambience and clientele make up for it. And, the place is really decorated nicely. Other people have commented that the portions were too small, service bad, etc. I was born and raised in L.A. and most trendy new restaurants are exactly like this. Not all, but most. I'd go back to Chi, again. I had a great time. Pros: Service, Trendy, Great Clientele Cons: Small portions more

hot, hot, hot 12/13/2003

I had a great time at Chi !! The place is great...loved the food, the ambience, the crowd. Pros: easy parking, great food, cool atmosphere Cons: waited 40mins., smokey patio, too crowded more

this place sucks 12/10/2003

I am one to enjoy fine dinning. All that is needed to impress me is good service, good food, nice atmosphere, and good company. At Chi, all I had was good company. Pros: none... no wait, , since their tables, were mostly empty Cons: service, expensive, rude attitude more
