Ovpriced and overrated 5/9/2010

Sat at the counter and was surprised at the prices. Everything in there is overpriced. Too bad that they don't match the price with the type of service you would expect at a pricey restaurant. I saw my order go up in the window and it sat, and sat and sat. My server was no where to be seen and none of the other servers even considered helping to pick up the slack by carrying my order 5 feet so I could eat. I had a cold ten dollar Reuben sandwich that I could have gotten elsewhere much quicker for much less money and much better tasting. Pros: Parking Cons: Overpriced and horrible service more

A true family place. 10/28/2009

This place brings so many memories! I have been going here with my grandparents for over 15 years! After my grandfather passed away, we held a dinner party here for 20 people it was wonderfull everone had a ""meatball sandwich"" in honor of him and his favorite dish. Some of the reviews say it is for old people, but that just adds to the quiet dinning experience. I truely love this place and will always go here! Pros: Very wonderfull staff, food ,beautiful decor more

High Quality Value! 1/8/2009

If you like affordable, high quality meals with taste and portions, Pearson's is an excellent place to go. The service is great, you will not be rushed, and it is easy to carry on a conversation with family members and friends. The decor is retro elegant. There is something on the menu for everyone. If you are tired of meals that consist of a wafer and a medallion, visit Pearson's. You will be satsified with the price, quality, portion and presentation of the food. more

Great homemade food! Priced to high! 10/5/2008

The food was great! The patty melt was done just right and served HOT! My friend had the french dip and was great. The food is home made. The desserts are very good too. Pros: Food is homemade-Great desserts Cons: Way overpriced! more

Big Burger Blues 4/28/2008

I'm sitting in Tennessee wanting a Paul Pearson's BigBurger! Wish I could find a way to have one shipped immediately. Pros: Nobody else makes a BigBurger! Love the tarter sauce! Cons: Not available in Tennessee more

Overpriced, Uninspiring Breakfast 2/29/2008

The price we paid for three undersized pancakes, one egg, and a couple strips of bacon was absurd. The pancakes were above average, but the rest was no different than you'd get at Perkins for substantially less money. Had the pancakes been larger, and there been some nice touches like warm syrup, that would have allowed me to at least give it an additional star. As it is, though, when factoring value for your money into the equation Pearson's was decidedly below average. more

WONDERFUL!!! 2/25/2008

This restaurant is one of very few places where you can get such a unique, yet comfortable dining experience. From the moment that you walk in to the moment that you leave you feel as though you are sitting at your family's own restaurant. The menu variety and pricing is also really great. You get great home cooked food for way cheap. You can't get something like that at a place like Perkin's or Denny's. The environment is very friendly and relaxing where you can bring your family and have a nice meal for a great price. The place has been in business for a long time which obviously means it is successful and has many loyal customers. What is the big deal if there are elderly people who are often seen there?! That is probably a pretty good sign considering the size of our elderly population! The younger people are too caught up into going to chain restaurants that they can pick up quickly with their GPS navigators and a place they know or have heard of. I'm sure that many of the younger people who do eat at this place always come back because they realize you can't get incredible homemade banana pancakes from even their own kitchen! more

GREAT! 2/25/2008

Relaxing atmosphere, excellent home cooking! It is hard to find a restaurant these days with the great friendly service they provide. They make you feel like family. It is a great place to go for a nice dinner out, or a quick lunch at the counter! They were able to accommodate my needs with quick and friendly service! I give this restaurant 10 stars and will be going back and bringing friends and family! more

Worst dining experience to date. 2/10/2008

One would think that a restaurant in this locale, for as many years as it has been there, would actually equate with a delightful experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case in any way shape or form. They were able to accommodate our large group, but that was about it. At no time was the restaurant busy, yet it took an hour for our first course to arrive. The prices were ridiculous; the fare was forgettable, and bland--a complete rip off. Perhaps that is why the majority of the customers were senior citizens; they tend to forget easily, have lacking taste buds, and have ample retirement money to throw around. I would give it zero stars, but that wasn't an option. Either they need to step up their quality of service, provide much better food, and cut their prices drastically, or they should close before other people get ripped off. Pros: Able to get in with a larger group with short notice. Cons: Food, service, and value...what a let down. more

Worst Restaurant in Minneapolis 2/9/2008

We chose to go to Pearson's last night because they could accommodate a party of 14 with little notice. We soon found out why as it was the worst restaurant experience of ALL of our lives. Upon entry, the place smelled exactly like a nursing home. Everyone in the somewhat busy place was 65 years of age or older, so it basically looked like a nice cafeteria at a nursing home. My 70 year old father was even disgusted. The menu was straight out of 1982 and menu is GROSSLY overpriced. The food was bland, boring and overpriced. The service was slow and confused. We had an infant with us too, and they did not have a changing table in the bathroom, nor did they have anywhere to feed the baby. Basically Pearson's Edina Restaurant is only for old people with too much money who've been living in assisted living since birth. We'd have been better off at the horrible Old Country Buffet. Pros: easy to get a table Cons: everything else you want in a dining experience more

Why is everything 'Ala Carte' ?! 1/15/2008

Careful, an extra napkin may cost you dearly. Pros: amatuers Cons: I believe it . . . more

Old Time Family Favorite 12/28/2007

This has been a family favorite for over 30 years. We drive from the northern suburbs for lunch or dinner several times a year. Yes, it it filled with many elderly people, but that is because they know good comfort food. Not unlike a diner, you can get a wide variety of food, there is something for everyone, and it is all quite tasty and homemade. The servers have all been there for years, know the regulars by name, and often go the extra mile for customers. Once I ordered a dish and the server gently suggested that I might be happier with something else, and then confidentially whispered -"" it just isn't as good as usual today"". Comfortable for all ages. I think my only complaint is the parking, they just need more of it but in that neighborhood it is at a premium and it isn't going to happen. Actually we are going there tonight! Pros: Good food in a pleasant atmosphere, good service Cons: Parking more

A great place to eat on a cold day! 3/3/2007

Service: The servers at this establishment are downright charming! They are very attentive and give great recommendations regarding the menu. They were also very accomodating to our children, which always scores brownie points with us. For example, my younger child was eating only baby food at that time, and the server was thoughtful enough to bring a small dish of applesauce for her without our asking! Pros: Cozy ambience, good comfort food on a cold day Cons: They close REALLY early! more

Home sweet home. 11/17/2006

This is a perfect place for a family gathering or a special occasion. The setting is warm, the servers friendly and the food is as if Mom is cooking in the kitchen. The prices are reasonable for the quality. Corn beef on Saint Patrick's, fresh walleye from the northwoods or the special of the day all done with a homemade touch. Fine for those more simple moments, too. A place to come home to. Pros: Comfortable Cons: Hard to find an extra parking place more

Try the Chocolate Pie... 4/21/2003

Normally this place is filled with senior citizens, but my friends and I love to frequent Pearson's. The swedish meatballs are delicious, as well as, the Bigburger. The Chocolate Pie is so rich, but it is wonderful! I nice relaxing atmosphere with tasty food. more

A Classic Family Tradition 12/23/2002

I've been going to Pearson's for almost 30 years now and continue to enjoy the place. It is family friendly (something for you if you are 2 or 92) and comfortable. The two fireplace dining rooms are beautiful and the service impeccable. The menu offers the usual fare of Steaks and Seafood, and some more unusual items such as Swedish Hotdish or Lutefisk (in season). The restaurant continues to be owned and operated by the founders, their children and grandchildren. If you are looking for comfort food, a pleasant ambiance, high service standards and tradition, this is perhaps the best place in town. Pros: Service, Atmosphere Cons: Wine only - no liquor more

Golden Oldie 12/15/2002

The average patron of this eatery has the personal mobilty of an oak tree. If Strom Thurmond were wheelchaired in here he would be handed the kid's menu. They have more Buicks in the parking lot than Walser's. Seriously, this is a great place to enjoy good old comfort food in a relaxed atmosphere. My only question is how special can it be when it they have ""Today's Special - Baked Chicken"" on their outdoor sign on 50th every day for several years. Pros: 1950's dining Cons: 1950's dining more

Nice but Bland 11/21/2002

My grandmother thinks this place is the cat's pajamas (as she would say). It's a perfectly nice restaurant with perfectly well prepared BORING food. If you're taking an elderly relative to brunch or dinner this is the place! But be sure to bring a bottle of Tabasco for yourself! Pros: Reasonably priced, Nice dining room, Excellent Lutefisk Cons: Bland food, Bland food, Bland Food more

Like Gramma Used to Make 9/4/2002

Homey, midwestern comfort. Come for dinner, stay for the apple pie, and bring the kids. The only thing missing is hot dish, but give them time. more
