Peace Love Play

I for one am glad this isn't a ""professionally run place"". If I wanted to take my child to a cookie cutter corporate place I would go go Chuck e Cheese lol. It's a fun, laid back place and you don't have to deal with crowds. If people feel out of place there I would say those are your own insecurities. I don't feel like its the owners job to interact with me. I'm there to have my child play... Period. more

I've been taking my son to PLP since he was an infant and now he's a walking talking toddler. It's the one place he plays independently and I can relax and know he's safe and having fun! I get equally as much out of our visit by interacting with the other moms and the owner- or catching up on e-mails and reading. I am also very grateful for the owner's stance on normalizing breastfeeding. The WHO recommends breastfeeding for at least 2 years and my toddler still nurses like it's his job! I have only been shown encouragement and support from the owner and other moms. We mom's gotta stick together and encourage one another instead of judge each others parenting when it differs from our own. If you haven't been I encourage you to check it out for yourself. You'll love the atmosphere and the company- and your little one will have a blast! more

I would like to add my review. I am not associated with anyone or the owner. I found out about PLP online and went because I was looking for a place to take my only child to socialize with other children. I have only went once and would consider going again if it was closer and on a bad weather day where outdoor fun could not be found. Here are my list of pros. I really like that it is a no shoes place. My daughter enjoyed herself and I was able to bring my own lunch for her. I felt like it was a good concept and casual enviroment. My cons are: I must agree about feeling a little akward being there. It wasn't as professionally ran place I was expecting (and paying $6 dollars I would expect it to be better ran) I too was a little disappointed because online it showed that there would be organized run activities I could pay extra to do and/or free things like music time. None of this happen while I was there and I was bummed about that a lot. Also for a good deal of time I was there the owner was quietly argueing with what seem to be a staff/or member of either PLP of something else she was a part of. This I must say isn't professional. If I am paying to go to a place I expect the person who runs it to be organized and focused on what is going on. However if this was a free play group concept then by all means my review for this would be better because then I would look at it as a mom running it not a professional looking to make a profit. That is my only big reason for not going back. $6 dollars is a lot for a visit with a mom's play group not a professional ran play place with promised activities. I write my review in no disrespect but I read reviews before I go anywhere and from review posted it seems more like a feud which again lends it self to a mom's group not a professional business. I believe when writing a review it should be honest and accurate not jabs and rave reviews for a friend. PLP is an awesome concept that was created by a wonderful mother that cared about her children's enviroment while they are in their toddler years! The toys are NOT broken by any means - they are in good shape and without batteries it allows the children to play pretend and expend their minds. Which is very critical at this age. As far as the breast feeding remark - ridiculous! If you supported breastfeeding and were educated about the subject then you would be well aware that the recommended age to continue to breastfeed is two! Anything past that age is a plus! I know the owner personally and she is like a secret agent when it did come to nursing her daughter. There was NOTHING being exposed! I nurse with a cover and I know I draw more attention to myself with that! :) If you FULLY supported breastfeeding then you would SUPPORT a mama that has accomplished what most women WISH they could and that is to reach the age of two and beyond! I love PLP and wish that I could bring my kiddos again! Much more fun than working full time! Keep up the hard work mama!! =) more

I think the concept of PLP is a fantastic one, and my only regret is that we aren't closer to visit often. more

I have been going to PLP since about May of last year, when my daughter was very little and my very active son kept me running. I was looking for somewhere he could play and that I could keep an eye while at the same time not have to chase after him! This was the perfect place for that! I could watch him and interact as needed, but take care of my infant's needs and relax a bit at the same time. Going there for the first time, I immediately felt welcomed by many of the other moms, in addition to the owner. Since then, we have made going to PLP a pretty regular thing. I have brought many friends with me since then, and they have all loved it too. A previous post said something about a mom ""clique"" - I don't agree with that at all!! I personally have experienced seeing the owner greet and say goodbye to many a mom. She doesn't ignore people and I think she is more than welcoming, but it can get busy. If you feel like you need an extra acknowledgement, maybe your issue is more of a personal one, not the owner's! I think that a place for moms to go and get to know other moms is just what this area needs. Just being a mom makes you a part of something special. Being able to talk to other moms, get advice, and a little sanity, is part of what going to PLP is about. As for the activities mentioned, I think that they are more than adequate for an open play place. We have done many a painting, drawing, craft kit, etc. And hey if you want to do something there, just ask. More than likely she will be up for it. :) As for the breast feeding comment- she makes it clear that this is a breast feeding friendly place. As someone who breastfeeds, and as a mom, it is upsetting that another MOTHER would put down another for choosing this for her child. I personally am too modest to not cover myself, but I see no problem in the owner, a mother herself, feeding her child how she sees fit. I would go there every day if I could and will continue going for years to come! The first time I went to PLP was last year when they were in their old building. I was not at all impressed and have not been back since (my daughter did go with her daycare once). While I understand it was set up to be a social environment, I would have to agree with another mom here when I say that it was more of a social environment for the owner. If you were not in the mom ""clique"", then you were not really aknowledged. Also, the things that are advertised: bubbles, face painting, dancing, etc, are a joke. The things that wer eplanned the day we were there did not happen nor did they happen when my daughter's daycare went there. You are basically paying for the use of the centers toys. Going to the park is free and probably more entertaining. At the time I was there, the owner whipped out her breast infront of the children to breast feed her daughter. While I am all for breast feeding (that was not the issue), her daughter was older than mine, was potty trained, could talk and was able to even ask for it. It was disturbing. ONE LAST THING....On Facebook, the PLP's owner threw the idea out there to have a chicken pox party there.REALLY?!?! Lets go ahead and infest a center with illness that children go to....Use your head!!!! more

I have been going to Peace Love Play for almost 2 years with my daughter, who is now 3 1/2. The previous posters criticisms are unfounded. The owner has 2 young children and has plenty of experience dealing with kids. In my experience, she is very friendly and welcoming to all moms and their kids. I, personally, have very high standards for cleanliness and have never found the condition of the facility to be an issue. Yes, there are battery operated toys, but it hasn't been an issue with batteries. My child is so busy with her wild imagination, she doesn't notice. As with any playroom, especially when somewhat crowded, there is going to be moms sometimes correcting their child's behavior. I know I've had to. Seems like a good concept - a play center. Unfortunately this one is not being run by someone who is experienced in children. While the center is well decorated, some of the toys are broken and most of the electronic toys had dead batteries. Furthermore, the owner seemed more interested in sitting and socializing rather than ensuring the place was running smoothly. Also much of the toys were in desperate need of Clorox wipes. The deal breaker was when the owner yelled at her kid so loud that it startled me! more
