My experience was great. Accept they don't prepare you good enough for the state boards. I took my practical 2 times already and I need to take it again. I think they should spend more time on the state board requirements then having a party and having fun. You can't have a career in hair unless you pass the written exam and the practical exam. I passed the cosmotology part of it, but failed the barbering. They need to go over the barbering more because you are paying a ton of money and for what?! To party and have the Paul Mitchell name? It isn't worth paying for the name and not passing the state boards. Choose a better school with better passing rates. more

Great Cuts 6/22/2008

Although Paul Mitchell is a school, so the people who cut your hair are students, the supervisors come and watch the students, so there is no need to worry. The students though are fine, and the price is not bad at all. more

It's simply Paul Mitchell The School. 1/26/2007

I've had my hair done by some of the students - some of them were awesome, some decently nice and others not so much (some of the students will give you looks or stare at you). On occasion they won't do what you wanted in the first place. They kind of do what they want. Pros: Decent parking, easy to find, good location, decent tuition price. Cons: Too many students. more

I have actually had some great hair experiences at the Paul Mitchell School (formerly Von Cutis) and I have had some poor experiences. Just try to get an advanced student - not a beginner. more

8 dollar haircut 11/14/2005

Getting your hair cut at a beauty school always has it's pros and cons: it's cheap, but then again you're getting your hair done by someone who has only been cutting human hair for about two weeks. Paul Mitchell The School generally does a really good job. They're heavily supervised and have to check off each step of the process with an instructor and tell them what they're going to do next. This is good, because it means that you have a whole group of professionals discussing your hair cut, and that let's you know in details what they're doing, and can stop them at any point if you don't like what's going on. The bad thing is that it generally takes a long time. A LONG time. I got my heair cut and dyed their once, and it took them four hours. If you're getting a basic trim, go for it. If you're feeling adventurous in the hair department and are willing to let them get creative on your time, definitely go for it. If not, get your hair done somewhere else. more
