money.. literally. 11/10/2010

We love you Patzcuaro- you clown. order any tacos, especially carne asada.. i love the burrito, smothered of course. the salsa is mui perfecto. we love the service-- it's what you get and expect from a place like this. chips refilled? don't waste the room in your belly with more! they are good about sprite refills, and if it's busy give them a little direction. don't be shy, and speak Spanish if you know how. the margaritas are good, but the food is awesome and the price is right. more

Used to live near it - now it's worth the drive 12/28/2009

Like most of the other reviewers, my wife and I have been here many times and overall love this place. We used to live right by it - now we've moved but make the drive oh about once a month. If you've never been just go check it out. You won't regret it. A few words of constructive criticism: The salsa is simply too hot - and I'm not afraid of heat either (I use hot sauce all the time). Pretty quickly you simply can't eat it, and nevermind if your meal is also spicy. Also the steak can be quite tough at times - I still get it because I love the sauce but it would be so much better with a tender steak. Overall these are not nearly enough to keep us away. :) Pros: Overall great food, good service, and reasonable prices Cons: Salsa, steak more

Love this place 7/19/2007

This is the best Mexican food in Denver, no question!! Quality ingredientes, great guac, great spicy salsa, great food! Go at lunch and get the special. $6 for a great plate of food and a beverage. You can't beat it. Their corn tortillas are awesome, the make the home made in the store. I work in the neighborhood and go at least twice a week. The staff is not so good about refilling your drinks, so you have to stay on them. Pros: The food is great. The servers are very nice. Go, I promise you'll love it. Cons: nothing really. more

Best Mexican Food ever! But - the service can be bad - read the rest. 2/8/2007

One of the greatest true Mexican restaurants ever. The food is fantastic and the portions are above average. My only complaint is that the food is so good that the waiters are the equilavent of the soup (It won't let me spell the N with the A with the Z with the I) on Seinfeld. I love the food and only return because of it. The waiters conveniently forget to refill the chips or drinks or whatever. BUT, dang, the food is soooooo good. I'm surprised that they still have the same people running the place. We've been going there since 1985 and not much has changed. Pros: Cheap, Great Food, Spicy Salsa Cons: Service needs to be improved but the food makes it worth it! more

they DO NOT take amex or discover (we learned the hard way--they did accept our check, however) 11/3/2006

Went after reading Citysearch recommendations. The Albanil with a side of guac was so delicious. Good Margaritas--sour, but smooth. We had to order a cheese enchillada just to try--que rica! The salsa is excellent, too. And, the service was fabulous!! \r One observation--the place is a little bright.\r \r \r ***Citysearch, please update that they do not take Amex or Discover. Pros: food, service, prices Cons: should dim the lights a little more

Best Mexican Food for a Great Price! 9/22/2006

Great food for the price, super friendly service, and a great mom & pop restaurant atmosphere. The best Mexican food experience we've had in Denver! more

Wonderful 7/28/2006

This is the real deal! The food is delicious and the portions are of a good size as well. Everything is loaded with flavor and both cooked and seasoned to perfection. The margaritas were also quite tasty. I highly recommend this place as everything I have had there is wonderful! Pros: Excellent food and service. Cons: None. more

By far the Best in town 5/3/2006

If you have not ate here before, you are missing out. I have been to all of the top mexican resturants in the city, and I must say that none of the food compares to the Taqueria Patzcuaro. The authenticity us unmatched anywhere in town, and the service was great. The owner is usually there serving with the wait staff, and he makes sure everyone is enjoying there meal. I was very impressed the first time I ate there, and I have been going back every week for a year now! They recently added a liquor license, and have extremely goog margaritas!! Try it out. You too will be impressed. Pros: Great food, Promt seating, Excellent service more

I miss Taqueria Patzcuaro 3/15/2006

I just moved to California and the thing I miss most about Denver is this little spot right here! Absolutley the best Mexican food I have ever had and my friends all agree. Try the Camarones al mojo de ajo, they're awesome, and a pineapple liquado! You won't eat anywhere else! Provecho! more

My Favorite Place in Denver 12/15/2005

(I wrote this a while back, and my review hasn't changed, but I wanted to update that I went last week 12/8/05, and there is a sign on the window that says they are applying for a liquor license. . . ) Two words: Tacos Albanil (with a side of guac) After living in Northern Mexico, this is the closest I can come to the real deal in Denver (and the meat here is better than the real deal). The other things on the menu are good -- this is fabulous. I make my friends order this on their first time there. I crave this restaurant between visits, and I go as often as I can. It isn't showy, and if you are into ""fine dining"", you probably won't like it, but if you are a foodie, don't miss this restaurant! Pros: Fabulous Food, Authentic, Great Value more

Wonderful authentic Mexican food that won't squeeze you're pocketbook. Two words TACOS ALBANIL!!! My favorite, it's marinated beef strips with fried potatos and jalapenos, squeeze a few lime wedges over the dish and that's it! Simple and delicious. The service is great, even when busy. No liquor liscense. Highly recomended!! The green chile is above average, not too spicy. I am addicted to this place, nuff said! Pros: Inexspensive, Delicious, Great service more

One of the Best Authentic Mexican Restaurants 10/9/2005

Taqueria Paztcuaro's serve delicious, authentic Mexican food at a very inexpensive price. I will have to agree with another reviewer and say that the Tacos Albanil are the best thing on the menu. If you can't take the heat of jalapenos, try Tacos Carbon. The strawberry liquado anc guacamole salad are delicious at well. The salsa is one of my top favorites in Denver... and I've been to many, many mexican restaurants around town. The waitstaff is always very friendly and inviting. Pros: Excellent Food, Inexpensive, Decor more

Still one of the best mexican restaurants in Denver. The food is great, always fresh and flavorable. The relleno burritos are my favorite. Pros: Food, inexpensive, friendly staff Cons: n/a more

Best Mexican Food In Town! 8/10/2005

I just love Patzcuaro. Excellent owners who strive to make you happy! more

Best Mexican in Denver & Inexpensive too 7/11/2005

The chips and salsa are great. It is spicy and what may surprise you is that the salsa is a green salsa. It is great to see a very good mexican place that is not afraid to serve good green salsa. The burritos, chili rellenos, and enchiladas are far and away some of the very best in Denver. If you like spicy you can get all you want here! Pros: Great Food, Friendly, Inexpensive Cons: No Checks, No Credit, Cash Only more

Fabulous Lunch and Dinner 8/12/2003

If not the best mexican in Denver (and its close), its definitely the best for the price. Excellent waitstaff and fabulous marinated meats in their entrees. Only drawbakc is the lack of a liqour license...... Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Cons: No Liquor License more

Maybe I thought... 6/6/2003

I saw this place on the Denver Gov. channel. I like the location! It was a cozy little place, but no alcohol. The portions were just right, but my expectations on flavor may have been too high. The warm chips and salsa are very good! I especially liked my metal Coke cup (an old milkshake tin). I probably won't go back, because it is quite a drive. If I lived nearby, it would be a cool hang out. Pros: The Staff!, The Customers, Wall Decor Cons: Parking more

Very good, but not best of Denver 2/23/2003

I just got back from this restaurant, and I can say for sure that it is a GREAT bargain of a mexican joint. However, putting it in the same category as Lola and Tamayo for top mexican spot in Denver is really not accurate. If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive and good tasting place for your mexican favorites, this is it. If it's excellence in mexican fare you're after, better to save this one for another night. Pros: Inexpensive, above average taste Cons: cheap ambiance more

You'd never believe it 12/10/2002

This restaurant is a small storefront building that looks like a dive. DON'T LET THAT FOOL YOU. This is as great restaurant for the entire family and is some of the best Mexican food you will find anywhere. The smothered burritos, chili rellenos, and (believe it or not) chili relleno burritos are fabulous. Be prepared. They accept CASH! No checks, no plastic. Also, they don't serve alcohol. How do I know? My wife taught at Denver North High School, 2 blocks away, for 4 years and it isn't uncommon to find the place full of teachers at lunch time. Pros: Great Food, Inexpensive, Great Service Cons: No Margaritas, Parking can be tough more

A lil bit of Mexico 8/8/2002

The delicious cuizine will tempt anyone. Their pork burritos have an over aboundance of pork and are very delicous and filling. Their tacos asados are the best!!! Pros: authentic food, fast service, good prices Cons: bad parking, bad restrooms more
