Charming ambiance, fantastic food, wonderful wine list 11/29/2009

Patrys is owned and managed by the second generation of the Patry family that operated the famed French restaurant of that same name on McKinney Avenue for so many years. \r \r Many of the same menu items are available, prepared to the same demanding standards for taste and presentation, and the quality wine list compliments about every preference imaginable. \r \r In a time when friendly and personalized service is at a premium, Joni and Daniel Patry, and their cordial staff, make warm and helpful service seem as comfortable as it is pleasant. \r \r With ample portions and delightful blends of just the perfect side dishes, their use of herbs and spices is as subtle and delicate as it should be, but simply make taste an exciting experience. \r \r Their experienced and talented chef uses only fresh ingredients, and his dessert surprises have to be sampled to be believed, but the word ""sinful"" comes to mind. \r \r This is a great place to bring the family, special guests, or for hosting business meetings or events in the private back room. \r \r I hardly ever give a restaurant five stars. But, Patrys earned it. \r \r Pros: Friendly personalized service, exceptional menu Cons: You want to stay forever, but at some point they must close more

Favorite Steak 11/12/2009

The peppercorn steak is what I order every time. Always cooked to my specification, Pros: Great food more

Delightful french Bistro 10/20/2009

This old house has been turned into a wonderful little French bistro. If you are looking for a slick of the moment hard edge interior this is not the place. If you desire charm character delicious French and continental dishes you will be delighted. The steak with peppercorns is consistently some of the best I have had, the Fish of the day has been perfect the two times I have had it. We live in the Bluffview neighborhood and it is our favorite restaurant in the area. Pros: great food in a cozy house more

NO OUTDOOR DINING! 7/20/2009

This place has one table that is sitting directly in the parking lot, so why is it listed under the ""outdoor dining"" section? The menu is not French either, so why is it listed under ""French"" foods? Pros: have not found any Cons: outdoor dining more

PASS THIS ONE BY - It's TERRIBLE 7/13/2009

Not swayed by city search reviews, we decided to try this one anyway : BIG MISTAKE!! The Morning News was more accurate : the food quality of this place is very poor! I am surprised that they (DMN) did not say anything about the fact that most of the menu offerings are not even French! The owner's father might have been a french chef but that does not mean that the son knows anything about food or French cooking. Fact is that he doesn't!! The waiter told us that they do not make very much money on the food (we were not surprised because there could not be much repeat business here); that they are making all of their money on the wine mark-ups and the wifes' astrology readings. Maybe they should not offer any food and just offer wine and astrology readings. Then we would not have stopped in to eat and had a very poor dining experience! Unless you want some rather high priced, mediocer wine or a 'gypsy' to tell your fortune, just keep driving right by this one! Pros: They probably won't last long! Cons: parking & food quality more

Great French food - excellent service 6/30/2009

We had a birthday family dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Dan was a fabulous host and delighted us with many stories. The menu is wonderful and full of delecious choices. We had several appitizers, salads and main meals - everything was perfectly prepared. The sauces were very good and quite French. We love to eat out and have been to several places in Dallas and many other cities - this is definitly a great place and we will be back soon. The pepper steak and lamb are fantastic as well as the several seafood dishes we had. The desserts were very good as well - try the creme brulee it is in a pastry. Our service was attentive but not overbearing. We loved the different rooms and homey feel of the building - it was delightful! Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: maybe parking more

TERRIBLE FOOD!!!! Don't waste your money! 6/29/2009

Where have the people writing these reviews for Patry's been eating at that they think this is good? First of all, the only thing ""French"" about Patry's is the one word ""Escargots"" on the menu! When did ""Sesame Seed Ahi\r With Buck Wheat Noodle (Udon), Shiitake Mushroom and Sweet Chili Sauce"" become French food? But the whole menu looks this way; the food is not French, so if you are looking for French food, you will be even more disappointed than we were! Secondly, the photos of the place on the internet make the place look light and cheery, BUT IT IS NOT! It is actually very dark inside and the place is painted in very drab colors with black table linens. Our table was right under some dead and stuffed animal which we thought tasteless and a disgusting place to have to eat our dinner at. The wine we bought for our dinner was the only good thing we had there, but it was +/-$60 per bottle. We have purchased the same bottle of wine at the liquer store for $28! We had snails and mussels, both of which were very tough (over cooked). I had Orange Roughy which, for $20 a plate, was a crying shame : mushy and acidic (probably what caused my later upset stomach!). My husband had a Rosemary chicken breast that was so very dry that it was a good thing that he had the wine to wash it down with. Then, not easily discouraged, we opted for the ""Chocolate Mousse"" for dessert : another big mistake! It tasted just like Rich's Whipped Topping mixed with canned Chocolate Pudding. VERY POOR STUFF HERE! The service was just okay, but it was like the waitperson was just disinterested in us (shame too because my husband can be a very good tipper for cause). Save your money for someplace with good food : French food should not equal bad food as it seems to at Patry's. Pros: I can not think of any yet. Cons: Dark dismal atmosphere with lousy food. No parking. more

Excellent French cuisine - wait until you try this place!!!! 11/1/2008

Joni and Daniel Patry have recreated the perfect Patry's on Lover's Lane at Inwood. You will get hooked the first time you dine! It's our MOST favorite restaurant in ALL of Dallas!!! Seriously, you are for a real treat! Great wine, excellent service, divine seafood, pasta, lamb or steak, Patry's is your evening in Paris! Very romantic atmosphere, lovely decor, wonderful b&w photos of the original Patry's with Daniel's father as head chef! Enjoyable evenings with quiet, unhurried meals. It's definitely a wonderful change from the usual maddening Dallas crowds!! Don't miss the desserts too! Tell your 'hard to please' friends about Patry's - you're in for a surprise!!!! Pros: Great service, food is to die for, you will be thrilled!! more

Amazing Food! Amazing Service! You can't ask for anything more... 10/10/2008

This was my first visit to Patry's and I went on a recommendation from a friend. I called her as soon as I got home to tell her thank you for sending me to such a wonderful restaurant. Our server, Royce, was the best. He told us all of the specials, and told us what the favorites were. I had the French Onion soup, a taste of my husbands caesar salad, the beef tenderloin steak with black pepper and cognac and the most wonderful creme brulee that I have ever had! The guys both had soft shell crabs for their dinner entrees and they both had very clean plates! The mussel appetizer was amazing, according to my friend (and the birthday girl sitting the next table over). Patry's has been put on our favorite list and we can't wait to return! Thanks to an outstanding staff, we had a marvelous evening. Pros: The food, the ambience and the service made this an exceptional experience. more

Wow! 5/21/2008

After eating at this restaurant I was very happy with the overall experience. After reading one of the reviews online I thought I would never eat there, but after reading the other good feedback as well as good feedback from my friend, I went. After promptly being seated, I noticed the great ambience and looked threw the menu. It was a hard choice, but I went with the peppered steak, which was a great choice. I was very pleased with my order and as well as the plating, I watch allot of food network and feel although I'm and expert. Patry's is a great restaurant that really surprised me; I never thought my experience would have ended this way. There deserts are also fantastic, I ordered the chocolate moose, which was great. Overall I was very pleased with this restaurant and will go back in the very near future. Pros: Lots of Great daily specials Cons: - more

Excellent 5/20/2008

Eat at Patry's last week and was very impressed, great food and great service. Patry?s serves great traditional French food with superb plating. If you are looking for a great French restaurant with affordable prices, this is the place for you. Pros: Great Food more

Bon Appetit! 5/16/2008

Fabulous hidden find if you are looking for a cozy french bistro. Affordable wine list compliments standard French fare (coq au vin, steak au poivre) and unqiue daily specials. If you have ever been to France and found that out of the way, sidestreet cafe where you could have dined and talked for hours with the staff and just enjoyed the moment, this bistro will delight you. Quiet and understated...it's not for the seen and be seen crowd. However, if you are looking for a truly delicious meal in a romantic setting, this is your place. Pros: romantic, service, traditional French cuisine more

Patry's is Exellent 5/15/2008

My wife and I eat out just about every night, but hardly eat at new places. The other night we decided to make a change and eat someplace new, but had no idea where to go. We live in the Bluffview aria and started thinking of restaurants around in that area. Calibration? No, although we love to get seconds and enormous quantities of food, we just weren?t feeling the home cooking style of their food. Cafe Italia? No, I really don't like chef Boyardee preparing my meals out of a can. Dunstan?s, no, we had eaten there the night before, great by the way. Then we thought of Patry's, which I had gotten good reviews from a few friends. Once there we were delighted to see a quaint little restaurant that actually has a rich history in Dallas. The photos on the wall are all from the old restaurant, which apparently closed in the 80's. My wife ordered the escargots and I ordered the stuffed leaks, which was followed by my peppered steak and her Salmon. After trying one of her escargots, I was eminently jealous, but once I tryed my stuffed leaks, I felt I had the upper hand. Once finished we soon got our main course, which looked impeccable. Once I took the first bite, I was sold. Although I had no urge to do so, my wife made me try her meal, which was also incredible. The plating of the meals made me feel although I was in a five star restaurant (hints my rating). The peppered steak was the best I think I've ever had, just writing this makes me want to go...now. I recommend this restaurant to everyone! If you ever can?t think of that place to go next time go to Party?s, you won?t regret it. Pros: Two Thumbs up more
