Patriots Point is a wonderful Naval Museum on the water in the Harbor. It actually is in Mt. Pleasant, SC but is just across the bridge from Charleston. If you were on the Charleston side of the Harbor, you can easily see it across the water. This is the big #10 ship that actually was a Naval ship many, many years ago. You can tour almost the entire ship. There are so many things to see there including one of the capsules the astronauts used on a space trip that the ship picked up in the waters after they broke back through the earth's atmopshere. The only con that I can think of is that it is expensive. However, they have special events throughout the year where it can be more affordable. It is worth the admission price but is expensive. A lot of the ship cannot be accessible by wheelchair, etc. so if that is an issue for you, you might want to skip this site. The tour takes a LOT of climbing. Not for the smallest kids, too as the steps are quite step.
