Best in Austin!! 8/7/2011

I had a restaurant dot com coupon so I went to try Pars for the first time and I must say it was AMAZING. My 14 year old daughter craves this place now, so this is our spot and the people who work there are very friendly and kind! It is not a fancy place, but when the quality of the food is so great it does not matter. I actually prefer the smaller places over the big fancy places. If you have not tried Pars you are missing out soooo go try it for yourself and you'll see! more

Worst persian food! NASTY and DIRTY! 2/8/2011

I defenitely will not come back! It so nasty inside, dirty and disgusting! They cook and they count money at the same time, didn't wash hands, no apron, walk around you, while you eating, with a trash can. They touch everything, and then make food with the same hands. People who is happy with meal just didn't watch how they work. Did you see trays and utensils? O, my God, everything is so dirty, ditry... It killed my appetite at all. Did you see condiments bottles? looks like they didn't rinse them for a while, so sticky and dirty. I went with my husband tonight, we liked food, it's good, not fantastic , but for that price still ok. But environment and ambience so bad, that we wanted just leave. How people eat there, don't they see how dirty is inside? Or it's because of cheap meal??? Owner told me without to think about, that tee was brewed in the morning. What and they stiil sell the same OLD tea in the evening? Taste really bad. Try ;) I've been in a few different mediteranian restaurants, this is one of the worst! Believe me. I don' complain about food , but about service level and HYGIENE! Just wanna prevent you. I love turkish food, actually hadn't have bad experience with turkish restaurants. But most of mediteranean restaurants have problem with hygiene and cleanless. \r \r P.S. Falafel is far from the best. more

Explore Persian foods, herbs, spices, and a variety of canned and pickled exotics right here in Austin! 3/30/2008

I bought ""A Taste of Persia"" by Najmieh K. Batmanglij, a beautiful little book on Persian cooking. A friend, Dar, suggested Pars Deli. Their French and Bulgarian goat cheeses, purchasable in bulk, are perfect complements to salads, rices, and kebab/kababs. The same can be said for their yogurts, which I now use as a substitute for sour cream. I've tried their powdered sumac on rice and yogurt, and find it renders just the right piquance for those otherwise bland dishes. \r \r The tea there is phenomenal, and is complimentary with a meal or while you wait for a take-out. Ask their friendly staff what tea they use (it is Earl Grey with bergamot and a touch of orange water) and where it can be found on the shelf. They'll take time to step from behind the counter and show you...a nice touch in a store crowded with so many delicacies. \r \r The best thing of all is the informality and focus on quality in foods. The place is a britannica of herbs, spices, cheeses, and persian meals. You'll not tire of Pars Deli. BTW, this is my first comment on this site, but I thought Pars worthy of the effort. Pros: Food, Price, Variety , Friendliness Cons: Average location and sometimes difficult parking more

Best falafel in Austin. 2/27/2008

I love this place. The staff is great. They're always super friendly. I get to go falafels from here all the time. It's quick and cheap. I've been to other places in austin for falafel and its always been over priced and gross. Pars falafels are moist and not burnt like other places I've been. The tables are small but you can always pull them together for a large group. The only thing I don't like...you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. It's just a little awkward. BUT I do get to peak at all the food being cooked. I definately recommend the falafel wraps and the lentils and rice :) The iced tea is also great. Like the other guy said they do something extra to it that makes it stand out. Pros: Fast service, great prices. Cons: bathroom. more

Really good 10/22/2007

This is the best and cheapest place I have found yet. Food is great and the service is quick and friendly. Try the veggie wrap; it's the best of everything. Pros: Quick and delicious Cons: Small seating area inside more

Friendly, tasty, and quick 7/24/2007

So I found this deli here on citysearch---I had exactly one hour to get from my office to the nearest Mediterranean restaurant for some falafel and then back. I made it back to work with my to-go falafel wrap, Mediterranean potatoes (and a grape leaf for good measure) in 30 minutes. I choose one of the combos and got a delicious iced tea (I don't know how it is made, but they do a little something extra which maked it delicious!) and in addition to the grape leaf (which I was craving, but which made the meal almost too much to eat) it was under $8. While my meal was prepared, I browsed around the market, and planned what I was going to get next time I go. The man behind the counter was very friendly---told me about the combos, and described some of the options for the sides. Not too busy---equal numbers of people getting to-go and dining in. I will definitely be back---I've been looking for a good Mediterranean spot in the area (which is close to home and close to work). Easy to get too, as well, right off of 183. Pros: fast, cheap, great location (I couldn't find my other Mediterranean places nearby) more
