I'm not saying that the previous reviewers response isn't true, but I've been living here for 3 months no and have no complaints. We got a great deal on the rent, only 499 a month...

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/25/2012

I have had bad apartment experiences before, but by far this was the worst. My number one complaint is maintenance. The kitchen sink and bath tub leaked constantly, and when I say leaked constantly, I mean the kitchen in particular gushed water. I had subleased it since I had gotten into a masters program somewhere else and had never even been in the actual apartment, so that came as a surprise. I told them about it as soon as I saw it. Later, when I talked to my subleasor, he told me that had been a problem for awhile and they never fixed it. When I came back two weeks later, it was still not fixed. So I went in and told them about it again. Well apparently maintenance had lied and told them they'd fixed it the same day I reported it. Which was entirely false as I had stayed overnight in order to deal with some things. more

WORST PLACE TO LIVE EVER! 4/20/2012

I really wish I could give it negative 5 stars. The absolute worst place to live. We have lived here for almost 2 years, what a big mistake. We have lived in two different apartments at Parkway, each one having several issues. The first apartment we lived in was a one bedroom that seemed fine in the beginning but realized it was so nasty not too long after moving in. The people who live her are disgusting. When living in the one bedroom apartment we lived on the bottom floor right next to the laundry room. I thought it would be really nice being so close to the laundry facilities but boy was I wrong, The residents of all the apartment complexes used it as a storage area and trash can, leaving all sorts of things in there. Outside the door there was a bag filled with someones trash, that was there from the time we move in till the time we left, gross right. Also the washers would always overflow and fill with water and your clothes would be soaking wet, and Parkway has nothing to do with them they are serviced by an outside company. So you would end up with soaking wet clothes and not have anything to do with them. Also one resident left his clothes in one of the washers for almost two weeks which resulted in mold in the washers. Speaking of mold and water issues, Parkway has more water issues than any apartment in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area. We have had a total of 6 different leaks or water issues in our two short years at Parkway. We have had 4 different problems with the water-heaters which apparently never work. Two of the other water problems have occurred from other tenants stupidity. For example shoving plastic, green beans, cabbage, rice and who knows what else down their disposal which resulted in an overflow of our kitchen ruining almost everything in our kitchen. The other time the fat-asses above us decided to pour Drain-o and other substances down the bathtub drain, which it clearly states in the lease agreement that you are not to do, resulting in Niagara Falls and wood chips coming out of our bathroom vent, causing a flood in the bathroom. The neighbors above us in both apartments never sleep and are up all hours of the night doing God only knows what, along with letting their cell phone alarms ring for at least a half hour. People do NOT clean up after there dogs they just leave the poop where ever and Parkway doesn't care enough to clean it up. They also will not move anything when they mow, they will run over your plants, lights, and patio decor, and any paper that may be outside. The office workers are lazy bums they do not do anything but play on their computers. You will call them to put in a maintenance order and it will not get put in, you have to get on them all the time about issues. Maintenance sucks as well, they are all dirty and nasty no good people for the most part. They will lie and steal from you, they stole my husband's brand new phone. I told the office workers and they did nothing about it. Most of the work that maintenance does is half-ass, and will break in about a week or so. We were with out heat in the winter for 5 days before any one fixed it and guess what it took them less that 5 minutes to fix it cause all they had to do was light a pilot light. We also dealt with a tub that would not drain or months on end till my husband had to fix it himself. In the apartment we currently live in the carpet is ripped through out the house and stained, the doors have huge cat scratches on them. There is so much more I could complain about but I really don't have the time. The review written below by corky is hilarious, because he is one of the maintenance men. I can't wait to move out of this hell-hole. Listen, DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. more

Not as bad as previous reviewers statement 10/12/2010

I'm not saying that the previous reviewers response isn't true, but I've been living here for 3 months no and have no complaints. We got a great deal on the rent, only 499 a month for a large two bedroom apartment with a wonderful woodland view. Sure it doesn't have a dishwasher in it or central air but for the extra cash i'll hand wash them and insulate the room better and the in-wall AC works just fine. The only insects I've encountered in the apartment is an occasional spider, which, living against the woods is going to be a problem anywhere you go. The apartment doesn't even have many of them at all really, might run into a small one once every few days or so which is no worse than any other home i've been in. I may have been lucky on my apartments location, but i've had a positive experience with the other occupants, I never have to listen to other people banging around all night, people aren't coming up and knocking on the door in the middle of the night, and as a college student, its close to campus (about 1.5 miles). my biggest issue with it is really just that at busy times of the day you can't have the back screen door or windows open without a lot of noice coming off 52, though its fine with them closed. All in all, while it lacks the bells and whistles, 499 for an apartment of this grade more than satisfies me and i'm thoroughly happy with the choice, as are my roommates. more

DO NOT RENT HERE 7/22/2010

This apartment complex has very bad reviews under it's old name. (Which is why I believe they changed the name.) You can see them if you google ""whispering winds, west lafayette reviews."" I lived at Whispering Winds from 2009-2010. This was a nightmare. To begin with, the day after I moved in, my bathroom ceiling caved in. The bathroom had a leak that was ignored for some time, and wasn't taken care of upon inspection before I moved in. I called the leak in the day I moved in, and no one came. That night the entire ceiling fell in, and moldy drywall covered all of my things. Even after the cave in, NO ONE CAME TO LOOK AT IT/FIX IT. I called numerous times. No one came. I had to move back into my parents house for a few days until it was fixed. (I posted a picture on one of the reviews if you google whispering winds.) I keep my apartment very clean, but had to deal with cockroaches on basically a daily basis while living there. They are taking over the complex. It got so bad, I couldn't sleep or eat there. They are in all my cabinets. I told management about it, and one manager told me ""I am from the south and this is a part of life. You'll have to go buy some bug spray."" I MEAN COME ON! When I called to talk to them about it, they hung up on me twice. When I went in to talk to a manager, 3 hours before they closed, they told me they don't have time for me. They seriously REFUSED to talk tot me. This problem was NEVER fixed. I am moving out this week, and still finding roaches in all my stuff. The mice in the winter were just as bad as the roaches. I told management about that, and they said a squirrel might be in the wall. It was never addressed after that. The mice were so loud in my walls, they kept me awake at night. Management is SO hard to deal with. They have NO COMMON SENSE. My lease states it ends on 7/25 at midnight. They told me I have to be out at the end of the day on 7/24, and if I'm not I owe them two months rent. They are ridiculous. They lie. They don't fix maintenance requests, EVEN IF YOUR CEILING CAVES IN. This place is UNLIVABLE. Its a horrible environment. I haven't even told you about the crime rate, and how unsafe it is, but really I don't think I have to. With everything you know now, I HOPE you don't rent from these liars. They are running a crooked business. They don't deserve your money. After all, you will be paying for an apartment you can't live in. Cons: Cockroaches, Leaky Ceilings, Horrible Management, Mice more
