Best

Do they compare the meter with their record. In case of emergency clients can not reach the company. I was given a ticket while car was paid for 10 hours rate $ 14.00 I would call...

Worst

We parked in the lot at 7th and Market South and were about to pay at the self-service station when we were approached by an African-American male, mid 40s, in a security jacket. ...

Very Convenient 2/20/2009

I have parked with PCA for a number of years as a monthly parker in one of their locations. As long as you read the signs correctly it aint rocket science on where and how to pay. I give them two thumbs up Pros: great locations, reasonable prices more

Parking Company of America is a scam and should be investigated by the police 2/3/2009

On Jan 30th, my husband & I parked in the La Jolla Med & Surgical parking lot across the street from the Hyatt. There was a permanent sign post in front of the building that stated that parking was available (free) to the public after 6pm. (We even took a picture of it) We parked (along with many other cars) and walked to Flemings for dinner, which was about 2 blocks away from the parking area. When we returned, there was a large folding sign in front of the entrance (about 4' by 5' tall) stating that parking was $3 dollars. Baffled, we walked to our car and found a ticket from Parking Company of America stating ""failure to pay posted rate"" fine: $30. We looked and saw that all the cars around us also had tickets stating the same fine. There was no attendant to be found - anywhere. more

Shame on you ! Parking Co of America ! 12/20/2008

Well Yesterday my girlfriend also got taken by this fraud. Paid for the parking and also got a $30 ticket... WE Will Not Pay this Fraud ticket. Pros: location Cons: No service, Fraud Tickets, No customer service more

Terrible 7/24/2008

Last night I parked on 8th and G, paid $5 and put it face-up on my dashboard. A few hours later, I had a $30 ticket on my windshield. Rediculous. Pros: Cheap Cons: Parking tickets for no reason more

Ticket Nazis 6/18/2008

I am totally not happy with this company! I now have two tickets from them and I am not going to pay them. I live near the lot on Park and F st. I paid the posted amount for the 12 hour price and received a ticket after only 2 hrs. I thought it was me that I paid for the wrong space or something. So I tried again two days later. Again another 30 dollar ticket for paying them the posted amount. Pros: n/a Cons: the company more

Great alternative to Ace Parking 6/9/2008

I have parked with Parking Company of America several times over the last 11 years. I have never had a problem with them. I parked with them this month because I am boycotting Ace Parking. I used their downtown lot at 7th and E. It was well lit. It had a machine that accepted either cash or credit card and gave you a ticket for your dashboard. It was quick, easy, and safe. I am definitely keeping them in mind as an alternative to Ace. It was only $10 for 6pm - 6am. Great location for going to the House of Blues. Beat the pants off the $48 I had to pay at Horton Plaza for an HOB show a couple of weeks ago (and that was for FAR less time). Pros: Location. Price. Not Ace Parking. Cons: No attendant on duty. more

Don't pay. 5/6/2008

I got a ticket from this company about 10 months ago and still haven't payed because I feel that the circumstance were BS. Today I went into the DMV to re-new my registration and inquired about any outstanding tickets that I might have. My vehicle's record came up clean. Takeing this information into consideration and the other comments written here by people more honest than myself, I have come to the decision of not paying them ever. F* them, I'm gonna throw the ticket away now. Pros: It's parking. Cons: It's ran by jerks more

just paid to park 2 hours, with the receipt on my dash, only to find a $30 ticket after being gone only 1 hour! 4/22/2008

There is no number to call - just a ticket with a threat that they've recorded my license and if I don't pay then they'll tow it next time, plus they may take other legal action. Pros: It's a parking lot Cons: Making me deal with a ticket when I have the receipt clearly visible on the dash... more

WANT YOUR CAR TOWED & AUCTIONED???? 4/2/2008

Be prepared to pay $350.00 in towing charges and a $30.00 ticket for parking at any of these ""inexpensive""lots run by Parking Company of America. They not only towed my truck. but gave me a $30.00 ticket, after faithfully putting money in the meter, and being gone for only 45 minutes. Their customer service said...""How do we know you put money in the right meter??"".....and ""it states on the sign that we reserve the right to tow and ticket"". I think the sign should say...""WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO TOW & TICKET, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PAID OR NOT.""...I noticed they are becoming bolder every month....next time they will say your car was abandoned and they'll sell it at an auction. Cons: The entire company more

It seems sketchy 1/14/2008

We parked there yesterday and there was no attendant. We figured that the attendant would arrive later on in the day to collect our money. There was no meter and there was a little shack that looked like it burned down. Where are u suppose to leave the money? On your windshield when someone else can leisurely walk into the lot and take the money? Also, why don't they put up meters or even a wooden box that probably costs $100 so that people can slip the money in there? There were no obvious signs indicating how to pay for the parking fee. After I drove off, I noticed a ticket on my windshield. If you read the fine print it says that it's not a government issued ticket. I don't think the info goes into a database. I think it's only a way for this company to get more money , $30, than the $4 that was posted on some decrepit sign. Pros: cheap parking Cons: no attendent, not directions, con artist more

NOT RIGHT! 11/18/2007

Last night I was hired to work an event at the Hyatt, not informed I had parked inside their parking lot when we were not going to be validated for it. After finding this out, I QUICKLY ran to my car, found the nearest exit, pleaded with the attendent and got out with paying half. I was stoked- when I found the medical building, I made a left into the parking lot and a quick left to park. Locked the door and ran back to my job. At 12am... come back to my car, and there's a ticket. I was floored! I took pictures of where it said it was ""Public Parking"" NO where did it say PAID PUBLIC PARKING... or PUBLICK PARKING $3"" I would have paid had I known..... My husband then pointed out on the right in an UNLIT area was a little stand to pay.... I'm DEFINATLY going to try to appeal. THAT JUST AIN'T RIGHT! Pros: It was convieniently located right infront of the Hyatt in La Jolla. Cons: NO WHERE DID IT SAY THAT THERE WAS A $3 CHARGE. THE STAND WAS UNLIT. more

BS Tickets 10/30/2007

I parked in the lot ouside of the Paul Mitchell Salon yesterday (Downtown). I PAID the ""posted rate"". Pros: WAS convenient, none other than that. No lights, no security... Cons: Ticketed even when paying the posted rate more

Frauds - write unjustified tickets! 10/22/2007

I chose this lot because of its proximity to my hotel. I parked in their lot at 10:45pm on a Friday night, and paid the posted rate. When I went outside the next morning, there was a $30 ticket on my windshield for ""failure to pay the posted rate."" They are CROOKS! Pros: somewhat cheaper than competition Cons: Write fraudulent tickets! Lot dark and unattended more

Writing article on this company and want to hear from you 9/27/2007

I'm researching an article on the way this company conducts business. more

Crooks 7/19/2007

Very bad business practices. Parked in their lot in the Hillcrest area. Arrived a approx. 1:00 pm, paid $ 15.00. A ticket was written at 1:54 pm for the amount of $ 30.00. After calling the company, aka Sunset Parking Service, I was told they have nothing written down as to how much money was paid or how much over the paid time I was. Once again ticket was written at 1:54 pm less then an hour after arrival. Looks like fraud, tax evasion... to me. Their record keeping seems very spotty. Ticket does look a lot like a city issued ticket. more

ripoff artists 12/4/2006

These thieves place 'parking tickets' on your windshield that mimic the SD City traffic tickets. Pros: located averywhere Cons: park somewhere else! more
