I am normally a bit squeamish before going to the dentist, but now I know why. It was my first time here and my anxious self went up to the counter to find the most unfriendly receptionist. She never once smiled, didn't even ask to see my insurance card, and rushed me in. Then the hygienist sat me down and said she had to go as quickly as she could because it was busy. I never even got her name. She started shoving bite wings in my mouth. They were jabbing into sensitive areas. With tears forming in my eyes, I had to sit through the pain. During the cleaning I was bleeding everywhere. She was spraying water all over my face and down my chin. My old dentist would stop and usually wipe the gunk off. At one point I think I started laughing in complete disbelief because I had never gone through anything comparable.
Then she said she had to do the cleaning in a half and hour only because that's what my insurance covered. The last dentist I went to I had NO insurance and they were so delicate on my teeth --- each and every time I went there. They greeted me with big smiles and were always curious about my life. I spent nearly 5,000 on dental work. With or without insurance, they treated me with the love and care every dentistry should show their RETURNING patients. I would continue to go to this dentist, but it is an hour away.
My teeth are killing me now --- all because of a cleaning. It's ridiculous. I just can't believe it. Not once was I even asked how I was doing. I've never in my life had an experience like this one. It was an absolute nightmare. If you're a new patient, or if your insurance isn't that great, do yourself a favor and find another dentist.
