Horrible Customer Service, Rude Staff 4/2/2011

Citysearch Review. On April 1st, 2011 at approximately 9:30 p.m. I took my wife to Papa Johns at 4024 N Holland Sylvania Rd in Toledo, OH to order a pizza. I sat in the car and watched her through the front window of the restaurant. I saw a lot of back and forth conversation between a big guy at the register and my wife. I saw my wife sit down and then I saw her get back up, walk to the register and walk out. I asked her what was wrong because she was very upset. She told me how rude the staff was her and when she asked for her money back the guy threw it to her. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. \r \r I walked into Papa Johns and the staff was now all standing at the counter, I guess waiting for me. There was a short female at the register, a male in a red shirt and white hat, and another male standing in front of the register dressed as a delivery person. The big guy who my wife encountered had glasses and was covered in tattoos. \r \r I asked who the manager was because I wanted to make a complaint and they all pointed to the guy covered in tattoos. I told him my wife was treated very rudely by him (Jeff) and the girl at the register (Samantha) and to please write down their names and the contact of their regional manager. He refused. I asked him again and he said he has the right to refuse service to anyone. He then told me my wife was rude to him and that she was “confusing”. I asked him if he considered her rude because she was asking too many questions, and he became very rude and confrontational with me. I looked at the rest of the staff who said nothing and asked “We came here to simply order a pizza, we came to spend our money and give you our business…does this whole thing seem ridiculous to you?” They said nothing. Instead “Jeff” was just getting more and more arrogant and rude with me which made me angrier with him. \r \r My wife walked backed in trying to capture the incident on video, I told my wife not to interact with him because it is not even worth it. As we were walking out, to add insult to injury “Jeff” told me to never come back! I asked him to repeat what he said and asked him “Why would I want to come back?” I told him he hasn’t heard the last from me. “Jeff” made some more rude remarks and ended with “Report that”. \r \r I have never experienced such rudeness and childish behavior from someone who is supposed to be a manager. This was the most ridiculous and insulting incident that I ever experienced in my adult life. My wife and I should never have to experience such a thing at this or any establishment. Once I tried to rectify the situation and say that we are customers and were only trying to order a pizza, apologies should have been exchanged and the whole thing would have been rectified. Instead, “Jeff” was adamant on proving his point and letting everyone know he is the manager and had the right to refuse service. \r \r After this incident, my wife and I went to the Original Gino’s Pizza, placed our order and guess what? No arguments, no confrontations, no accusations, we didn’t get yelled at or told never to come back. We just got a hot pizza to take home and eat. Very simple, really. How could two places be so different? By a competent staff and good customer service.\r more
