There are in fact three pizza places in the Central Illinois area that are fantastic. Papa Del's is one of them and it is great. They have a thick Pizza that is to die for that can only be matched by Ginos on Rush street in Chicago. We made the drive from Decatur to Champaign at least 8 to 10 times a year to enjoy this outstanding taste treat. Pros: The service is always great and the parking is right outside the door Cons: To enjoy this treat you are going to have to waitsometimes up to an hour. The best way to get around this problem is to call in your order and then time yourself to arrive about 15min before it is ready more

Papa Del's is Great! 4/15/2006

Unquestionably the absolute best deep-dish pizza this side of Chicago. True, it's a little pricey compared to other pizza joints in Champaign, a true college town (of course it's still cheaper than what you'd expect to pay in the big city). True, you can go down the street and get a large pizza for $6 including tax, but nothing comes close to Papa Del's quality. DELICIOUS! Comparable to the big Chicago deep-dish names like Pizzaria Uno, Due, My Pi, Giordanos, etc. Highly recommended. Pros: Best Pizza, Convenient Location, They Deliver! Cons: Slightly Pricey, Rowdy College Kids, Kinda Slow (45 min) more

Stellar Sicilian Deep Dish 7/23/2003

Yummy! Don't expect to have your deep dish ready in a jiffy. This ""zah"" is a work of art and takes time. However... after a piece or two of the mile high treat, most will decide to box the rest for later. Keeps extremely well in the freezer; tastes even better the next day direct from the fridge!
