WOULD BE NICE IF THE EMPLOYEES WOULD TREAT PEOPLE AS IF THEY WERE THERE FOR THEM RATHER THAN THE CUSTOMERS ARE THERE FOR THE EMPLOYEES. MANAGEMENT HAVE VERY BIG HEADS AS THEY WALK AROUND THE STORE. NO CUSTOMER APPRECIATION FROM MANAGEMENT. ONE MANAGER WILL EVEN CALL HER FRIENDS TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE WHILE OTHERS ARE WAITING more

The best place in Amarillo to find a good deal everyday. Bread is $.79 all day, every day. Try to find a loaf of bread in Amarillo under $2.00; not very likely unless it is stale. Believe it or not, the bread at Panhandle salvage is the freshest in town. It comes from Tri State Baking right here in town. It is baked every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday and put on the shelf the next morning three days a week. Produce is well below the price of any other grocery store in town. You do have to remember it is a "salvage" store. If the produce was first quality, it would not be cheaper than other stores. If you are willing to spend a little extra time looking, you can always find plenty of great deals to make it worth the trip. The hours are a little crazy, but that is one way they keep their cost down forthe consumer . Yes you may find a few things that are not as cheap as Wall Mart, but who can compete with them?; certainly not one little independent grocery store. more

This place has some awsome deals if you know how to shop, BUT my advice to the manager/owner: Don't close before your actual closing time. If you say you are open untill a certain time and you are not, that makes you a LIAR! I just blew an afternoon and a half tank of gas desperately trying to cash in on one of your good deals to get there just in time to see an employee locking the door 4 minutes before your closing time. And, even though I asked him to please let me in and told him I had driven a long way, he refused. I would have made it worth the while as I planned to buy a large quantity. You are way too anxious to get off work. I have owned a business for twenty years and that is NOT good business. Needless to say, I went away mad. Mad customers are never good for business! more

Great prices, I saw nothing out of date. best price always on fresh bread and produce. more

Panhandle Salvage has some good prices on certain items, but about half of their inventory is just a few cents lower than Walmart. The real reason to come here is when they get in pots of flowers that haven't sold or to go get vegetables (early in the morning) when the farmer's market is closed and you need a lot to cook that day. If you wait until late morning, or afternoon to buy veggies there don't bother...all that is left is pretty gross, almost rotten produce. Most people who shop here are affiliated foods employees who receive discount. more

If you are in need of a little help when it comes to groceries, and don't mind the quality, this would be a place for you. But as for me, I will shop the sales. The shelves are stocked with expired or soon to be expired items. The price is ok, if you don’t mind that, but I will probably not spend my grocery money there. They have a lot to choose from, but the quality is not great. more
