The Other Nashville Zoo 9/30/2004

Being a Nashville native, I have been drug to this restaurant on a number of occasions. The pancakes are ok, but that is where the positive aspects of this restaurant stop. It blows my mind to see people lined up out the door and around the corner to have an over-priced & mediocre breakfast. I will often sit across the street at Jackson's and just laugh at the people of questionable intelligence waiting in an hour-long line for refined flour and sugar. And if you are thinking of ordering anything besides pancakes then just stop and choose again. They have never gotten my egg orders right and they are often luke-warm by the time I get them. And don't even think about trying to send anything back, the servers usually just get perturbed with you and give you even worse service. Customer satisfaction is not on their list of priorities. Pros: Long History Cons: , Long Wait, Poor Service more

Worth the drive 7/22/2004

I live in Huntsville, so I had never heard of the Pancake Pantry until my friend and I ate there one day by pure chance. How glad I am that it happened AND we didn't even have to wait in line. God was smiling on us that day. We have come back several other times, and we have yet to be disappointed. The service has been great and the food even better. The seating is limited, but if they made it any larger, the quality might suffer. I will gladly wait for those pancakes. Pros: Tasty food, Good prices, Customer Service Cons: , Limited seating more

GOOD FOOD, and famous people too!! 7/17/2004

A must when you are in Nashville. The pancakes are the best. You might even be able to catch a glimpse of a celebrity!! I did, none other than Vince Gill ate in the booth next to me. Talk about a great breakfast!! Pros: very tasty, celebrities, carribean pancakes Cons: , limited seating more

Fantastic 8/24/2003

We had read the reviews so we expected the lines. It moved fairly quickly. We only waited about 30 or 40 minutes. But it was worth the wait! The pancakes were different and varied. I opted for the Sweet Potato Pancakes with Cinnamon Cream Syrup. Yum! Who wants plain pancakes when the variety is so diverse? The service was good, prices not to bad(for the amount of food). The only bad thing was there was too much food, and the coffee was a little strong for my taste. Overall, excellant! Pros: variety Cons: parking, too strong coffee more

The ultimate tourist trap 8/24/2003

I love breakfast more than any other meal, and the buttermilk pancakes at Pancake Pantry are one of my favorites-but I absolutely refuse to wait in line for something that I can get elsewhere for less money, while receiving better service. Although I like the food at PP, their service is not good and the atmosphere is noisy-usually with lots of kids and many pushy people. If you're visiting nashville, check it out to say you've been, but go in the afternoon to avoid standing in line for a barely mediocre experience. more

Top Notch 7/17/2003

This is a southern delight. If you are looking for an upscale, fine dining experience, go elsewhere. If you want authentic, top quality food, service, and southern environment, this place is the best. The Parisienne Pancakes are my favorite - Three big pancakes topped with a strawberry compote and real whipped cream. The French Toast is also tough to beat - it comes topped with cinnamon and sugar with its own cinnamon syrup. Pros: Fine Food, Nashville experience, see some stars Cons: Parking more

Only Show in Town 5/24/2003

Pancake Pantry is only rated as the number one breakfast place because there is essentially no other locally owned breakfast place. Apart from Noshville, PP is the only show in town. Nashville needs more breakfast places. For such a fat town, you would think we need more places to plump up besides Krispies. Pros: Pancakes more

NO MAPLE SYRUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4/18/2003

It is phenomenal to me that a restaurant that prides itself on pancakes does not offer PURE MAPLE SYRUP!! And I'm not talking Aunt Jemima, I'm talking the real thing. Don't these people (including the reviewers from the Scene) know the difference? If you prefer cool whip to real whipped cream, margarine to butter, or Log Cabin syrup to the real mccoy... and I'm speaking of maple syrup here... then this review won't matter much to you. If you insist on natural sweetners like pure maple syrup and raw sugar for your coffee, steer clear of the Pancake Pantry. more

Oh... my... gosh 3/12/2003

I don't like pancakes normally, but these are hands-down THE BEST on the earth. Such great variety, such tremendous value. Word to the wise: they spend all their energy on FANTASTIC pancakes; the rest of their food leaves something to be desired. So, just stick to the flapjacks and you'll have an incredible experience. Oh, and it was more than worth the 1 hour wait in the the below-freezing weather at 9:30 on a Sunday morning to eat here. Pros: Variety, Delicious, Great Service Cons: Incredibly crowded more

Pancake? More please 2/25/2003

The Pancake Pantry is a unique place, one in which BOTH good food and good service are evident. The only things is, you are left wanting more of the delicious pancakes - without having to pay for another full order. Otherwise, you will thoroughly enjoy it! Pros: Food, Service, Decent price Cons: Quantity more

Exquisite! 2/21/2003

What impressed my the most is the homemade syrups, butter, and compotes. I think Pancake Pantry is the best place for breakfast in Nashville HANDS DOWN!!! It is usually well visited on a daily basis, but I guarantee it's more than worth the wait. Cons: insufficient parking more

How long of a wait is bfast worth? 1/20/2003

At best p pantry offers average breakfast and average service and yet every weekend morning you can watch a long line of hungry breakslowers waiting for an old serving. It escapes me when they could go down the street and get a better breakfast in a better atmosphere with better service at the same price down at noshville a mere 1/4 mile away. i guess I am missing something. Pros: they have food Cons: a long line, mediocre service more

POSITIVE RATINGS BOGUS 1/6/2003

This place is exrtremely overrated. I strongly suspect that many of the positive ratings are bogus (read then, they all have catchy titles, are very short, similar and absolutely bogus). Food was truly mediocre, service was horrible. Why people wait in line for the crap they dish out at the Pantry is beyond me. Seriously, don't go there. Only the type of person that could go to a stadium concert and not even see or hear the band (yet have fun just being there and telling others that they were there) could possibly enjoy this place. HORRIBLE SERVICE. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Pros: I HAVE NO IDEA, WHY PEOPLE FLOCK TO, THIS PLACE more

Not the best looking place 1/6/2003

Great food but no ambience. The food was not worth the wait and the waitress was not really efficient. more

Give the Red Wagon its due! 12/14/2002

I like Pancake Pantry as much as the next zillion people do, but a serious contender that gives the Pantry a run for its money is the Red Wagon. But alas, it is not even on your list! How can it not make the list?! more

Consistant Quality Over Many Years 12/13/2002

I, unlike many people, was a born and raised Nashvillian. After leaving town 26 years ago to live all over the world, I returned to find a changed, more upscale and cosmopolitan city. I was delighted to learn that Pancake Pantry is not only still in business, but that it had moved into a new building, and still feels like the lod establishment. Good service, bustle, great coffee and what I believe are the finest breakfasts in the world still exist here. Try Cornmeal Pancakes - they are literally the best of the best. Great omelets, home-made and tasty blintzes and other items adorn the menu. Plus - I have known many of the waitresses since my high school days (Hi Joyce) when I used to go there with my late father. This is the best breakfast not just in Nashville, but arguably one of the best in the nation. Pros: Fantastic pancakes, Great omelets, Excellent service Cons: Tough parking, Long seating lines more

Lemmings 12/13/2002

I've never understood the phenomena. The fact that countless people line up on weekends to get in does not define the quality of the food. It's not a bad place, but it surely is not worth standing in line. There certainly are many alternatives, even within walking distance, that are at least as good, if not better. Pros: pancakes Cons: rushed service, long lines, overpriced more

Once a year Breakfast 11/24/2002

Over the many years, almost my entire family and I got Tennesse once a year. First breakfast we'll eat is at Pancake Pantry. An excellent restaurant, the only problem is that there isn't another one across the street, for there is a line all the way down the street in the morning to get in. Pros: Food is Excellent, Service is Excellent, Value is Good Cons: Not Another one, Wait is Very Long more

Wonderful! 11/1/2002

Well worth the wait - Pancakes is what they're known for, and they do it right. I had the sweet potato pancakes, and loved every bite! more

mm mm good..mostly 10/8/2002

I looked forward to trying this star watching site. No stars to be seen on a Sunday morning! The caribbean pancakes were superb and didn't even need the butter. The eggs were ok... not a lot of flavor. The service was excellent. Pros: good value more
