This is the first time I have used the Pampered Pet Resort in Spring Hill, Tn, and this will probably be the last. I boarded my two dogs there for three days. I cannot comment as to the treatment of the animals, however, I CANNOT RECOMMEND their abilities as ""groomers"" nor my request to contact their paying customer before doing anything not spoken of to their animals. I was not notified before they bathed and ""groomed"" my dogs, something I rarely let ANYONE do as most are not familiar with the breeds grooming necessities. Which was obviously the case here. My dogs were bathed and apparently ""left to dry"" as they became severely matted. They attempted to shave PARTS of one of my dogs to get rid of the mattes! So, now he has long hair and short hair throughout his coat. I can only assume once they realized the gravity of the situation they left my other dog alone, with huge mattes all over her body, and the worst around her neck! To top it off, they RECOMMENDED A CUTTING TOOL FOR REMOVING THE MATTES THEY CREATED!!! AND!!! still charged me for the ""bathing and grooming"" services! Seriously!? An act they performed without any kind of prior approval, when they two contact numbers by which to contact us. \r \r Beyond furious with the situation!! more

I read the reviews below before doing a ""drop in"" vist with my 7month old male Mastiff. I was fully prepared to be turned away since I did not have an appointment, and after reading the reviews below, did expect to have a high opinion of the place nor the people that run it. To my surprise, I was not turned away and did not get any sort of feeling that they did not enjoy what they do. Jeff was at the counter and they were quite busy when I arrived with my dog.The reception area is small, so he asked me to step out for a minute until someone left. Once one of the individuals picked up their dog and left, I went right in with mine. Jeff finished up with the couple before me and immediately asked me what I was needing as far as boarding and showed me his facility and where he would put my (very large) 7month old mastiff, should we choose to board him there. The place did not smell at all, oither than the normal smell you have whenever there are pets around. It smelt like PetSmart to me. My dog is very protective and normally will not let anyone touch him or anyone around me, but Jeff immediately got down on one knee, turned his head so he would not be facing my dog, and held his hand out for my dog to smell. My dog did not growl nor bark at Jeff and not a hair stood up on his body. I was impressed. I made the reservatation and will keep him there from Thursday through Saturday this week, I will finish this review when I pick him up, but so far, I am impressed with Pampered Pet Resort! To be continued....... more

Immediately after picking my dog up 5/30/2012

Immediately after picking my dog up from Pampered Pet Resort in Spring Hill I had to take him to a nearby vet due to a left arm injury (he had a notciable limp and was gaurding his extremity). When asking the employees regarding his activity and if anything had happened they asking me what I was looking for and to leave the property. It's sad...you hope to come home from vacation hoping to see your dog excited not hurting in pain. After $90 boarding fee and $90 vet bill we a hoping our dog will be ok and hope this helps you and your pet from harm. more

great place 10/13/2011

I used to work for the owners of Pampered Pet Resort. They are great people. They are very concerned for every dogs well being, that stays there. Yes, it is family owned and operated business. What more could you ask for, than a family, taking care of your family member? Its a great place to leave your pet, without a second thought, of how they are being treated. more

This is the BEST!!! 10/9/2011

I happened to read the review below on the negative that was written about Pampered Pet Resort and it sounds like they were either just upset about their hours of operation or better yet maybe their ""competition"" decided to write this. I can't believe they have written a review such as this with out ever trying them out. I heard about this place from two of my friends that have raved about this place being as picky as I was with my dogs I decided to give them a try. When I first met these people I never picked up anything about them that was not friendly at all. They talked with me for almost thirty mins and were very happy to answer any of my questions. I felt a real sense that they really cared for the animals. Anyways I have bringing my dogs to them for about four years now. I go out of town for my work often at least two to three times a month some months and I would NOT allow anyone to take care of my dogs anywhere else. These people have a beautiful set up, I love the fact that it is not so big that they only have time to clean and not to interact with my dogs..By the way it is very clean. My dogs absolutely love Jeff and they get very excited when I take them there. I love the the way they have the large yards set up and it is like being in my own back yard. I know they have more than just the family working because I talked with their manager and she said she was not related to them and I know there are, I think, three groomers there. I don't think they are related but I am not really sure about that. Anyway who gives a rip about how many or if it is just family as long as they are good to your dogs and your dogs are in good hands. Before we moved here I would have given anything to have had a place like this. When I checked out other places in the area, many did not even have a yard they just walked them and then they went back in the kennels, many vet do the same thing. I know at pampered pets they only put a couple out together at a time, they have like four or five yards and I know this to be true because I stopped by early one afternoon to pick my girls up and I was watching them in the yards playing. As far as the owner talking down to some one I can't imagine him doing that. I can tell they really like the dogs because my dogs run to Jeff (the owner) every time I take them there and that is what give me peace about leaving them there. If it was not a good place my dogs would act just like they do when I take them to the vet nervous and shaking, they hate the vets office. So in saying all that ...... I want pampered pets to know I love you guys and keep doing what you are doing! more

Pampered Pet Resort 10/1/2011

I've been taking my dogs here for over a few years now, so felt compelled to comment on the review posted on March 10. My dogs love going to Pampered Pet- they actually start barking with excitement when we turn into the driveway, and run right in when we get there. So I can't imagine that they are not happy while staying there! I have always found the owner to be very friendly and accommodating- perhaps you misunderstand his personality? He calls my dogs 'doggies' as well- which I feel to be an affectionate term. One stay I forgot to bring the dog's food, and he asked what kind they ate- saying he would buy it for them. I've been very happy with Pampered Pet! more

NOT friendly, questionable services 3/10/2011

This is the first time I'm writing a review on City Search. I don't normally do this, but I had such a unique experience with the owner of Pampered Pet Resort this morning that I felt compelled to let others know... I saw their ad in the local paper, so I decided to swing by and see what the place is like. (I've done this at 3 other nearby pet boarding facilities this week.) Well, it's not really a business with employees, but rather a family who lives in the house in front and keeps the dogs in the kennel behind their home. I have NO problem with this. I actually like this kind of set-up and visited another place like this yesterday. It was 11AM on a Thursday (non-holiday) when I called and asked if I could swing by to see what the place was like. (There's a sign at the top of the driveway that reads ""By appointment only."") I was told by the gentleman owner on the phone that he was in the house and no one would be ""down there"" (at the kennel) until between 4 and 5 so to call back then. That immediately gave me the impression that a) they only have a few people on staff and b) they might not spend as much time with the dogs during the day as other places. Perhaps he MEANT that the best person to give me a tour wouldn't be back until between 4 and 5. But that's not what he said. He did say no one was there at the moment besides the groomers. So when I paused, he started spouting out ""facts"" about their business - how many years they've been doing this, how many ""doggies"" they have space for (20-something?, I can't remember), etc etc. He was very matter-of-fact as he was running through what seemed like a long list of tedious details to him. Honestly,, it seemed like this curmudgeony 'ol man didn't much like dogs OR having to care for them, because his attitude was like, ""your precious DOGGIE will be in good hands, just trust me."" He kept using the word ""doggie"" in a talk-down-to-me kind of voice. As if I (and others who pay to leave their dogs with pet sitters) are rich people who spoil their pets when in fact they're just ""animals"" to him. That's exactly the ATTITUDE I was hearing as he was talking. It was so off-putting! Finally, I asked a question that is very important to me when leaving my dog at a new facility: ""Do all the dogs go out together? If so, how many people are with the dogs at that time?"" He said, ""Well, there are 3 of us who work here, but usually there's just 1 of down there at a time. And no, we're not always with the dogs when they're out doing their thing and playing together."" (not a direct quote, but the jist of it) He asked something like, ""Why, does your doggie have issues?"" I said, ""No. I just want to know how many people are with the dogs at all times."" In my opinion, one person with up to 20-something dogs at a time isn't exactly the type of set-up I'm after -- for safety reasons. You never know which dogs are going to get along and which ones aren't. Add to that the fact that he said someone's NOT always with the dogs while they're out ""doing their thing""... that just doesn't seem like a very professional business practice, if you ask me. Needless to say, my dog won't be staying there. I sincerely hope that others who leave leave their dogs there DO have better experiences than I had. Perhaps the other 2 (of the 3 employees) have a better attitude about dogs and dog owners than the one I spoke with. more

AWESOME PLACE 4/19/2010

I have been bringing my dog for 9 years to them. The place is very clean. The people that work there are very friendly and my dog Mojo does not want to leave. Pros: A great place to bring you animals. more

Truly the best Pet Resort in the area, great rates and very clean. 12/12/2008

My wife and I have been using the Pampered Pet Resort for almost 8 years. The owners are wonderful people and very friendly. My dogs are so excited when we arrive at this place they run in and are happy to see them, that says a lot about the care. It has never smelled bad, it seems to be very clean, it is cleaner than some of the restaurants in town. Truthfully, we would not bring our dogs to any other facility, and the rates are great for the quality they receive. Yes, sometimes we have trouble getting through on the phone, but they do return calls, and it is very hard to get in on the Holidays, you have to call in advance. These people are really nice people, need to check out the place for yourself and see. I also know other who use this place and are very pleased. B.H. more

Wonderful facility - my dog was treated like royalty 11/16/2008

My small Maltese has stayed at Pampered Pet ""lodge"" on more than one occasion and I have had nothing but great experiences. The kennel has been clean, non-smelly, and the staff very caring. They took great pains to make sure our pickly little dog ate - giving her extra attention and extra ""cuddle"" time when we suddenly had to go out of town for a family funeral. I also have tried a few other places, but none measures up to what these people can do. They are responsive and quick to make customer service a priority. Pros: Great caring people - great grooming. Now have a school for groomers. Cons: Everyone else likes them - call early for holiday reservations for kennel! more

Great Groomers...Stinky Place 10/24/2008

This place has a wonderful grooming staff. The groomers are friendly, experienced, and my dog always looks wonderful after leaving there (TIP: Ask for Keri, she is great!!!). The facilities are not great. The road leading to the ""resort"" is not paved and full of bumps and holes. Be very careful. My car scrapes as I am leaving. I would not leave my dog in the kennels overnight. The smell knocks you down when you walk in the door. Also, don't expect to get your phone calls answered unless you call when they first open or in the evening when it is pick up time. Leave a message and one of the unfriendly owners will call you back eventually. Pretty much from my experience, the only great thing about this ""resort"" is the excellent groomers. Pros: Groomers are Great Cons: Facilities more
