Was impressed when I walked in, was greeted and seated. Salad bar was good, the meats were over cooked, but the chicken was good. I also ordered a martini which was ok, then ordered a glass of house red..Well when I got the bill I was shocked that the martini was $11.00 and the glass of wine I got was $16.00. service was very slow. from start to finish was 2 hours and 20 minutes. there were only 4 other tables at this time, also I think it was the hostess. she was wearing a pink shirt and untucked...sloppy looking Pros: nice decor Cons: slow service, over priced house wines more

Overpriced Old Country Buffett!! Save your money and dont eat this slop 1/6/2007

I am amazed this place has made it as long as it did. We went the first time on a Fri nite to celebrate a birthday. We were curious about the concept, and also curious when we sat down and the place was near dead on a Fri nite in ""posh"" Birmingham ( we should have realized right there) While the interior was beautifully done up and the location was great within walking distance to the Pallidum, coffee houses, shops etc, the food was another story I will never forget. The cuts of meat are quite possibly the worst thing we have ever had and for 36.00 is just beyond imagination! The turkey was wrapped in heart attack artery clogging fat that cooked into the meat and had gross pineapple on it. Each cut of meat was worse than the one before it. The meats came out very undercooked and almost rare!! I am not a fan of Old Country Buffet or Ponderosa but their quality of meat is SOO far superior to this, and thats not saying much. The service also isnt up to standards for this price class. The servers are quite friendly but forgot our dipping sauces until nearly the end of the meal as well as they forget to bring some of the meat selections and were confused what we had already had and did not. They also walked by the ""green card"" on the table and didnt bring any meat out. We had to ask repeatedly for more rolls and some plates never got cleared the whole time. Forgiveable in a cheaper restaureant or one that was shorthanded or really crowed but there was barely ten tables full in the place when we got there and when we left!!! With the current economy in Michigan and the competitive restaurant business I cant see how this place will make it without improving the quality of the meat and upgrading their ""Ponderosa"" salad bar. Birmingham may have its fair share of wealthy residents but surely people arent stupid. I hope to save others plenty of their hard earned money that I wasted for this place. Pros: nice location, beautiful interior, neat concept Cons: food quality, ABSURD prices, not great service more

Great and Unique experience in Metro Detroit 1/2/2007

I've been waiting quite a while to eat at this restaurant, and I have to say that it was worth the wait. I love meats and my doctor keeps telling me to eat vegetables. This place has it all. I also learned that they use all natural flavors and there are no transfats or other bad stuff. It is very hard to find a restaurant that makes their food all natural. I would highly recommend the place. After going to numerous restaurants in the area, and having the same old food, it was refreshing to experience something new and tasty. To restauranteurs out there, we need new concepts! I wish my fellow michiganders would frequent these unique restaurants more often, so that more restauranteurs open new places in this town. Keep up the good work. Pros: lots of food, unique, great taste Cons: can be loud during weekends more

DON'T DO IT! 11/25/2006

DON""T DO IT! If you are looking for meat, meat and more meat...go to any of the varoius steakhouses in the neighborhood. This place is truly awful! The meats are of very poor quality. The service is also quite poor. The server had no knowledge of any of the offerings on the wine list. The wine we chose had not been chilled, so we had to wait for that and then they had only one, yes, (1) Labatt's in the bottle...for a table of 3 beer drinkers. We kept the ""green"" side up the entire time, but continually had to ask the server to send over some food. At the end of our meal, we spotted a server offering grilled veggies and pineapple, which we were never offered during the 2 hours we sat waiting for food...Again, DON""T DO IT...you will be very very disappointed! If you must go to Pampas, do it now, because it won't be there a year from now. Pros: Great concept Cons: Poor quality from serice to food more

Nice Changes 10/2/2006

I was at Pampas when it opened and had a good time. Visited recently and there are new changes. Looks like there is new management and now they are open for lunch and it costs about $12, it is a great deal for the amount of food you get, although not the full rodizio, it is an awesome buffet. The server mentioned that they will be introducing a new menu with new entree choices with better value. They will continue to serve the authentic brazilian rodizio as well. I've been to many brazilian steakhouses and most of them have only one option, the full rodizio. I am pleased to hear that Pampas will be adding more choices for the customer. I like this place, looks like they are really trying to provide more options for midwesterners like me. Pros: great place for a party Cons: parking more

Don't even bother! 7/4/2006

If you have been to other REAL Churrascarias you will be greatly dissappointed with this one. The food bar was grossly inadequate, only offering half of the items you normally see. The hot side dishes were only lukewarm and of poor selection (redskin potatoes, sauteed kale and black beans). They served us fried bananas instead of plantains and the breads were no better. To top it all off, the Gauchos had very little knowledge of the meats they were serving and how to slice them. The meats themselves were quite good, the only saving grace of the evening. Also, the desserts were done well, but I do not go to a Churrascaria for dessert! Service was mediocre, which was too bad, since there were only 4 tables in the whole place, including our table of 10. Cons: service, variety, knowledge more

Average 6/25/2006

Fun experience, but food is average. Pros: Good Food, Nice Location Cons: Does not compare to Chicago/LA location; Birmingham parking more

Wow! 3/15/2006

I highly recommend Pampas - my friends and I were looking for something different and Pampas definitely delivers! You will not go hungry at Pampas. I was particularly impressed with the quality and variety of the food. There's something for everyone and the best part is, it's unlimited. Make sure to try some of the specialty drink and make sure to leave room for dessert. Pros: Entertaining, Great Food, Unique Cons: Parking more

One of a Kind dining experience! 9/30/2005

What a joyful and unique dining experince we recently had at Pampas. The presentation, the attentive as well as the sophisticated service and the abundance of such flavorful and delicious food made for a wonderful evening. Would highly recommend this eatery as an special treat! Pros: Service, Fabulous Food, Great Wines Cons: n/a more

Great Dining Experience 6/2/2005

We had a great time at Pampas, something new that we never had before. Best grilled steaks I ever had and vegetables galore. The best thing is that I didn't have to worry about choosing the wrong entree, everything came to us. Pampas experience was by far the best I've had. Unexpected good service, when you consider the size and exciting atmosphere. Highly recommended. Pros: lots of fun, great food Cons: wait times more

Business relief! 5/26/2005

I had booked a party for a group of Doc's to present a new product. The restaurant was all set and they had the screen just as I had requested but I had forgotten my LCD projector in Ohio! I was about to flip when Steve the Manager said ""I have one do you need it?"" What can you say about a place like this? Business heaven! My group is still asking when are we going back. Food like nowhere we have been. Awsome! Pros: All the tech stuff, DSL built in, FOOD! Cons: Parking was tough more

A big surprise 5/26/2005

I am taking time out of my busy schedule to let other readers know about the experience we had at pampas grille in Birmingham,Mi. My wife and I like visiting new restaurants and this one was a surprise. We did not expect to eat so much for the price. The meat and chilled food selections were endless and the quality top notch. The staff was knowledagble in explaining the nature of the meats as well as suggesting what wine we should drink. We left Pampas grille with a great feeling and will definitely be back soon. more

tremendous Fun! 5/25/2005

I have eaten all over the world and the one experience that truly sticks out was a Churrascaria in Salt Lake City, Utah. Long before Chicago this was lighting up the restaurant scene with true excitement, now WE have one of our own! This is the real deal, all the trimmings, cheese bread, ciapirinha and fried bananas. The meats off the spit were some of the best cuts I have had - anywhere. The service is crisp, educated and very pleasant. Pace yourself and save room for dessert, I screwed up, ate too much and couldn't make it. Pros: Great Cocktail lounge, Good for large groups, Family Friendly Cons: City parking is bad, Need one in Novi! more
