I was a bit concerned that my dog was given oral steroids for a skin problem, severe itching/flaking, and no diagnosis. I would see people coming and going from the office with prednisone prescriptions for skin conditions. This went on for months. My dog was always thirsty and had to urinate every few hours because the steroids would raise his sugar levels. It was awful, plus it would alter his mood. After much research, I finally realized he had a flea bite allergy. I gave him medicated baths and put him on frontline. His itching and skin infections resolved and everyone commented on his beautiful coat. I advised a doctor of my findings and that I was not very happy about the service. The doctor was very unimpressed and said ""well good for you!"". I found another vet.
