I am a first time dog owner, I went into this store over Christmas with the intent of purchasing a King Charles spaniel for my children as a gift, I had no idea about puppy mills ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/25/2014

I was lured into the cuteness of puppies. Bottom line, the sleazy owner talked me into leaving a 1000.00 24hr worry free credit card hold in a dog. After we read the comments posted and realizing we just were not ready for a new pup, we let it go. A few days later a 2400.00 charge existed from this place. I called the store and he told me it was MY FAULT, I should have called and the puppy was mine(thank goodness we were not flying home until the next day so we could get a refund). Bottom line STAY AWAY from this place! I feel so stupid by ever walking into this place! more

Sick Puppy - Giardia, Coccidia (Diarrhea) 1/30/2011

I am a first time dog owner, I went into this store over Christmas with the intent of purchasing a King Charles spaniel for my children as a gift, I had no idea about puppy mills or anything of the sort as a first time buyer. I went into the store, saw the puppy asked questions etc and decided to come back the next day, I brought the whole family this time to see how they liked the dog, everything seemed good so I proceeded with the purchase. At this time they presented me with documents of blood line and a clean bill of health. This is where it all goes down hill. We have had the dog now for 6 weeks and have had to go to the vet 2 times every week since we have had her (which is 20 miles away from my home), the dog turns out was completely infected with worms, parasites, Coccidia, Giardia, excessive diarrhea and more. Now the store does pay for the visit from these illnesses but it still costs me nearly 40-50 dollars every time I go since I constantly have to buy ID food to help the poor little thing out due to the diarrhea she continues to have due to the parasites. I feel completely miss-lead with this purchase as the stool samples I have had taken have shown Giardia in the lab result as well as Giardia cysts in the actual stool. Lets not forgot the fact that we have had to deal with a sick pup for the last six weeks. I only wish I had read the reviews before making a purchase but we had no idea. Unfortunately all the things I have read are spot on. Everything looks great and you feel like your doing the right thing when purchasing a puppy from their store, but the truth is, our puppy is sick, it saddens us now that the dog has become part of the family to see that she continues to be sick till this day. Do your self a favor and find a reputable breeder or go adopt. more

Beware of this Pet Store!! 1/12/2011

I consigned two puppies (Mini Schnoodles) to Palm Beach Puppies to help find a good home. After the puppies spent more than two weeks in the care of the store, I was told to come back and pick them up because they (Palm Beach Puppies) had a hard time selling them. I picked both puppies up on Monday 11/9. On the morning of 11/12, 4 days later, both puppies stopped eating and suffered from severe diarrhea. The next day we took both to the Vet because they were still not eating and still suffering with the tremendous diarrhea. After testing, the Vet told us both puppies contracted the Parvo virus and there was no treatment available that could cure them 100%. The vet said the only thing we could do is put them down. He also said it was highly probable and likely the virus was contracted at the pet store. We couldn't take them back home due the highly contagious nature of the virus. We have three other dogs that could be exposed. Both of my puppies had health certifications before we left them with this Pet Store. Further, and by the admission of the owner/manager, the puppies were checked and were healthy before they were offered for sale. more

don't shop here! 5/30/2010

Palm Beach Puppies gets their puppies from puppy mills, which are basically dog factories. I've seen the paperwork of where these dogs are coming from & I KNOW they come from puppy mills. They buy these unhealthy dogs for very little & resell them for 10-30 times what they paid. All the owner cares about is making money. He's disgusting. Dogs are thinking, feeling animals, not products. If you want a wonderful dog, adopt directly from a shelter or rescue group. Don't create more demand for puppy mill dogs by buying from any pet store, especially this place. Pros: There aren't any. Cons: These dogs are from puppy mills! more

Are you kidding me? 5/19/2010

Seriously, in this day in age are you people still ignorant to the fact that real breeders do not sell to pet stores? Tune in to reality once in a while. It misses you. Pros: If you want a well bred dog, go somewhere else Cons: Sick dogs die more

Palm Beach Puppies=ANIMAL CRUELTY for $$$$$ 5/18/2010

Unfortunately, Palm Beach Puppies buys their ""product"" (puppies) from puppy mills. The conditions that the animals in these mills are forced to live in are sheer torture and of unspeakable cruelty. Pros: absolutely none! Cons: forcing innocent creatures to suffer for $$$$$$$$$ more

horrible people 5/16/2010

these people are only for the money not the animals. terrible practice and need to be shut down as well as allll pet stores!!!!!!!! puppies are sick and most die,,,,, Pros: nothing at all..... Cons: puppy mill supporters and purchasers more

Puppy mills are deathtraps 5/15/2010

Please rescue your dog from a shelter; pet stores like this cannot supply the variety of animals they sell without getting them from puppy mills who then lie through their teeth about the source and health of said puppies. I've met people who knowingly bought puppy-mill dogs because ""my wife wanted him,"" ""my sister bought him for me,"" ""I couldn't resist,"" or ""the store was clean."" These are all lame excuses; every puppy sold by a pet store prevents a dog in a shelter from getting a home. Many people now know about puppy mills?thanks to Oprah?but don't realize that in order to shut them down, everybody has to refuse to patronize them. Kinky Friedman, a great rescuer of dogs, has said, ""You can spend all kinds of money on a fine dog, but only love will wag his tail."" Go to your local shelter and save a life. Pros: Dont go 2 this store; go 2 yr local shelter and save a life. Cons: Owner sells sickly inbred puppies, bred in factory-like cond more

Why buy from Puppy mills? 5/13/2010

The owner is an opportunist and has a nice lifestyle making money off innocent animals. They are unhealthy because they come from puppy mills and you will pay the price in vet bills. Many complaints about this and those like it. Buyers end up with sickly puppies who they are unhapy with. How healthy can dogs be after living in crates and pins all their lives giving birth over and over? Pros: Can't think of one positive thing about making $ off dogs Cons: Your killing shelter animals when buying dogs from stores more

Beware of false advertising 4/24/2009

I purchased a pug puppy for $900 with the understanding that this pug has parents who are 7-8 lbs and the puppy herself is only 2-3 lbs at 3 months of age. When she arrived 4 days later, I discovered she is really 4.5 lbs which makes me doubt that her parents are indeed only 7-8 lbs each. In addition, I discovered she has parasites and Alan, the manager, refused to pay for the diagnostic tests required to uncover these parasites. He yelled at me over the phone and hung up on me twice. Of course, I will keep the puppy because I would definitely NOT return her to a person like him. Please also read about Palm Beach Puppies on other websites and do not promote this owner's poor business practice. Cons: false advertising, hostile customer service more

sick dogs 9/18/2008
