Best Seattle Steak 5/11/2010

Best steak in town! A little hard to find if you don't know the area...however, once you find it the view is beautiful and food is exceptional! Pros: Excellent Customer Service Cons: Hard to find more

Excellent seafood and service, even on a busy Friday night! 2/10/2009

I try to go to a new restaurant once a month, and this month was outstanding. First of all, the view facing Seattle is amazing, along with the Marina in front. Beautiful ambience and interior with a waterfall at the entrance and blown glass pieces. Our server was very friendly- not pretentious at all. He was extremely knowledgeable of all the items on the menu, as well as wine to compliment our meal. He claimed that they had the best crabcakes in Seattle- and he was right! No bread stuffing at all, fresh crab and excellent flavor. I had the king salmon roasted on cedarplank and it was excellent, perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented on the plank. My friend isn't much of a seafood person and had the duck which was also very good, nicely cooked with crsiply skin. Overall excellent. Last month I tried the Waterfront and this blew it out of the water! Pros: Food quality Cons: A Little pricey, but worth it for fresh seafood. more

Always cooked to perfection for us.. 11/14/2008

\r On deciding to make reservations with a girlfriend I decided to look at the reviews to see what others had experienced. Our experience has always been 5*. My husband and I have dined there around 6 times. 2 times this past year. We do not live in the city so its a special trip on Mothers Day or B-days. My husband has always made reservations in advance. You can have valet parking if needed also. Our seating has always been on time w/out a wait or about 5 minutes and our seating arrangement wonderful. Maybe that is the key, reserving a table in advance. On Mothers Day 2008 my husband made reservations. The table had a huge bouquet of flowers, a card, pink roses sprinkled on the table. Wait staff this time and always previously and thereafter has been excellent. They are able to tell me exactly what I want to know about the food prep, ingredients etc. The wait staff has recommended wines and also if I wasn't sure, they would send the wine guru over which really helped. Although I cannot remember exactly what we ordered that time except the appetizer, Calamari filet. Was excellent, three good size filets, sliced, stacked with dipping sauces for only 11.00. The more recent trip for my Bday Sept 08 my husband ordered filet mignon, I order halibut. On arrival we both were very surprised on the size of his filet mignon, although we noticed he was served one of the largest portions (seated first). He took a bite and closed his eyes. I said its that good, he sliced a piece for me and I also did the same thing. Crisp, smokey flavor on the outside and like butter on the inside. Unbelievable mouth watering experience. What I like most about Palisades is that the meat & vegie no matter what I order has been cooked to perfection (pet peave). I always order seafood and its always been fresh and delish. My dad is a commercial fisherman and we have always been lucky enough to eat the very best of it.\r Pros: Romantic, Nice parking, Nice service and excellently cooked food. more

burnt food, poor service 10/7/2008

we didnt like the food . The dish I ordered was burnt and my husband's dish was not properly cooked as he requested. The service was okay, not very friendly. We had to wait for a long time even if we made reservations in advance and reached there in time. There were not enough place to seat in waiting lounge either. We had to stand for a long time. The seating arrangement was bad too. Lots of ppl going back n forth..Overall it was a bad experience. We would not go again or recommend it to anyone. \r If you want to have a good time and have your money's worth, try some place else! Pros: view Cons: food, service more

Wonderful live music during weekend brunch! 9/22/2008

Having Ambiance playing live jazz standards during brunch makes Palisade even better! I've been there a handful of times for special occasions and I don't recall any live music. It really makes the experience more pleasant and enjoyable. It wasn't too loud but I could still hear the vocalist. I love the brunch buffet and the delicious mimosas. Nice job, Palisade! Pros: Ample parking, the view, live music during weekend brunch Cons: None, but make reservations! more

Romantic and good for out of town guests! 9/5/2008

I was taken here for my birthday with a group of 10. The service was great, we all enjoyed our meals. The only issue was one of us did order our steak Medium well and got it medium rare, but he also didn't complain to the waittress for them to fix it, which I am sure they would have. (Also, who spends that much on a steak to ruin it by having it overcooked? whatever - no accounting for my friend's taste!) I got the crab cakes and scallops, and they were the best scallops I've ever had. Their calamari appetizer was delicious - perfectly cooked. Drinks were good, and 2/3 of the creme brulee trio dessert was good. (I just wasn't feeling the passion fruit creme brulee, but that is just my personal taste!) Views are beautiful and I would love to go back on a date night with my husband. Part of our group was from out of town (Miami) and they were very impressed. Pros: Food, Service, Views, awesome waterfall/water feature Cons: Pricey - save for a special night! Made reservations but still had to wait 20 minutes to sit. more

BAd food and service with a view 8/2/2008

Terrible service and food. We were visiting from out of town and wanted to have a good northwest style meal with a view. Well, we got our view but not much else. I would however recommend the happy hour at the bar. It is reasonably priced and the food is okay. After apps. at the bar we moved to a table where the first two things we ordered off the menu were no longer available, but the waitress failed to mentioned when we ordered. I also asked for a glass of wine which I finally received mildly warm about thirty minutes later. I could have overlooked the bad service if the food had been good, but it really sucked. The fish was overcooked and tough. The sides were also nothing special. This place is good for bad food and service with a view. I will never go back again. Pros: view Cons: everything else more

Don't waste your money, go to Scotts instead. 2/27/2008

You pay for the view at Palisade, not the food quality. Once again I see it as a chef who cares more about being fancy than putting out the best meal. Most chefs I know are not into it for the diner, they are into their own egos. \r \r Don't get me wrong it is a great place to impress a date and you won't walk in the door without dropping a couple hundred dollars (not including drinks) But if you want food quality and better prices go to Scotts in Edmonds. It is more upscale than your regular bar and grill and it is owned by the same company. I had the halibut cheeks at both and like the Scott's version far better. The portions were larger and the price much cheaper. At Palisade the halibut cheeks had three different sauces on three tiny slices of breaded fish. Quite simply it was trying too hard.\r \r In my last two visits I have sent food back. If you are taking a date I recommend they order the Australian Rock lobster it is expensive but they ahve yet to screw it up. Choke down your meal while they are impressed by the slight of hand which is the service and view. Service was good when it was there but they have gone to wearing earpieces which make me think that either they are secret service in disquise or they take refiulling my water far too seriously. With all the communication gear you would think that everything would have gone faster, but alas no.\r \r I am never quick to judge and wouldn't write a bad review after a bad dinner. One bad mean, maybe you are off your game, at two, maybe it is just me, three and it is you, I am done with throwing my money into the Palisade hole. Pros: View and Ambience. If you can get a reservation for just before sunset it will impress if yo uare snobby, this is your place Cons: Way overpriced for the service and food quality. The marina detracts from the view. more

Great service, average food 11/6/2007

Many people I know consider this to be their favorite Seattle restaurant. My wife and I have been there a handful of times, and have always come out thinking it's just OK. Their service is solid, but that's what I expect from an expensive restaurant. I've never left thinking the food was unbelievably good - only that it was OK considering how much I paid. It's a nice dining experience considering how much everything costs, but don't expect too much from the food - nothing special.\r more

Great View, Restful Atmosphere, but Only Average Food 9/2/2007

When you have out of town visitors and the weather is decent, it is hard to beat Palisades. It has a terrific view of Elliott Bay and Mt. Rainier. The decor is relaxing and the service is fine. However, the food is unexciting. They claim all of their seafood is very fresh, but that doesn't mean it is the highest quality, or even tasty. My most recent visit, I ordered a special halibut dish after being assured that the halibut was as fresh as it gets. It tasted frozen or several-days-old fresh. For the first time in my life, I contemplated asking for my money back. It was that bad. Another member of our foursome tried the ""very fresh"" salmon with the same result. The other two ordered steaks and our waiter reversed instructions on how well the steaks should be done (this is why a waiter should write down orders, instead of trying to impress diners with how good his or memory is). On the plus side, all of our salads and appetizers were terrific. One final peeve. When I ordered ice tea, the waiter told me the only iced tea that had was a sweet-flavored iced tea that most diners don't like. I was pleased he told me, since I hate flavored ice tea. But neither I nor our waiter could understand why they wouldn't also have regular iced tea. Pros: View, setting, decor Cons: Food more
