Bad customer service! 12/14/2012

12/11/12 I took my 4yr old daughter to P.Y.O.P on Main st in Fairfax,Va. The girl working that day told me that they tell everyone their things will be ready with in 8-10 days, but, they are slow so call back on the 14th because my daughter's things might be done by then. So, this morning, 12/14, I call and Susanna Ekvall (the owner) answers the phone. I asked her if, my daughter's things were ready for pick up. She says not yet and that she will call when it's ready. This was no big deal for me. I was just calling to check like the young lady working a couple of day ago advised me to. So, I get into the shower and when I get out I notice that I have a missed phone call from P.Y.O.P. I call back and Susanna answers the phone. I'm thinking she's about to tell me that she meant to call someone else. But, no, she said, " Well, I looked up the date you came in and it was on the 11th, right." I agreed. I said, "Yes, that's right." Then she sarcastically asked, " Do you have a calendar in front of you?" Then she yelled, "I want you to count how many days it is from the 11th to today, then you will see that it's only been 3 days since you were here!" I was taken back by this phone call. At this point I was caught off guard. I couldn't believe that she was calling me to argue. I told her not to call me and talk to me like that and to keep in mind that I am the paying customer who paid $60 for a cup and plate! She said," Well, what do you think I am doing, scratching my ass all day?" Then she hung up on me. My husband heard the conversation. When she hung up on me my husband and I got into the car and drove over there with the receipt. I stayed in the car with my daughter while he went in to get our money back. She asked him to come back in 20 min bc she didn't have cash. 5 min later she came out to our car and handed my husband the money. Then she came up to my window and threw her hands in the air and started yelling, "What's your problem?!!" I told her to get away from the car she did and we left. more

Paint Your Own Pottery is Awesome!! 6/18/2009

Good: I have frequently visited Paint Your Own Pottery and have always had a great experience, including my children's birthday parties.. Bad: I find the review from Laura H. to be offensive and clearly are complete fabrications. She 1st posted on June 10, 2005 on InsiderPages and then a similar inflamitory review 3 months later on Judy'sBook. Paint Your Own Pottery not only has provided excellent service every time I'm been there, but also contributes significantly to our community with donations, catering to school children, works with Fairfax County Public Schools and the Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts of America.. Improvements: Paint Your Own Pottery (and their owner, Susanna Ekvall) represent part of what is GREAT about our community, the small town, local business, serving our community.. Other: Reviews like the "fabrication" from Laura H. should be ignored and reported, and reviewers like "Laura H." should be "black balled" from our community. Shame on you Laura H. Sincerly, -Ed Potter, (Happy customer and defender of small businesses in our community who are defamed by liars and trouble makers :-). more

Horrible customer service and NOT kid friendly 9/24/2005

Even though this type of place is perfect for kids, apparantly no one told the people who work there. We have been a couple of times and both times have been treated poorly and had very slow help (which is not a good thing when you have children in a place with a lot of breakable objects). Unlike other pottery painting places, they make you dependent on the staff for paint, so if the staff is slow or unwilling to help, you just have to wait. There are several other choices for this (a new place in Fairfax Corner) so there is no need to pay a lot for this poor customer service. Parking is also difficult in this area of Old Town Fairfax. more
