Best Ahi Tuna!!! 12/26/2008

3 of us gals were in Ann Arbor from out of town and we love to try new restaurants. Pacific Rim came highly recommened if we were not looking for a heavy meal. Since we just got done being at the spa, it sounded perfect, and it was. Great service and food. Loved the serene atmosphere and good wine selection. Not a place for a meat and potato kind of guy & gal. The ahi tuna is wonderful. That finished off a great weekend in Ann Arbor for us. We highly recommend for great service, atmosphere and unique tasty food. Pros: Service more

Very good Ann Arbor Choice 5/25/2008

Most of the food here was very good as was the service (although that could be because we were there at 9:30 on a Monday night; I don't think our server had another party). Nice calming decor too. Began with the unagi appetizer which was terrific. Very flavorful and good fish. The simple salad before the entrees had a terrific sesame/soy dressing; those plates were licked clean! unfortunately, the entrees didn't live up to the same standards. The tuna was mushy and not very flavorful. The accompanying daikon slaw benefited from the spicy sauce the dish was served with. However, the risotto cakes it came with were so crispy and tough, they were hard to cut with a knife! The other entree, hamachi, was better, but the cold soba noodles didn't quite go. The wine list was good and reasonably priced. Pros: The unagi! Cons: Entrees missed the mark more

an oasis worth a stop 1/29/2005

The proprieters, who also serve as chef and host, clearly love their fine establishment. The waitstaff ae helpful, friendly and efficient. For appetizers, it's hard to choose between the crabcake, the lightly fried calamari, vermicelli spring rolls. If meat is your thing, you can't go wrong with the rack of lamb or the steak. I didn't have the seafood, but my dining partners loved the sablefish(like sea bass, but more environmentally conscious) and the shrimp. The host will help you pick out a great wine. And dessert...the bittersweet chocolate cake with the hot liquid center cooled with homemade coconut ice cream and accented by sake infused cherries... need I say more? If you want to go lighter, the green tea /ginger creme brulee (2 separate minis) may hit the spot- the flavors although subtle are unmistakeable. If this place were in my hometown of NYC, I would be a frequent-flier. Pros: tasty steak Cons: it's not in nyc more
