very unwelcoming 10/11/2010

I went to this bar on my last day of vacation hoping to just unwind with a couple beers and the bartender accused me of trying to use a fake ID and refused to serve me. Its great they are checking IDs but if someone hands you a valid driver's license that says you were born in 1982, don't accuse the patron of it being fake. I understand the importance of preventing underaged drinking, but if I were under 21 I wouldn't have gone to such a lame bar. more

A welcome oasis.. 4/8/2010

After an afternoon of shopping, it began to rain and my comrade and I were desperately seeking a drink and attempting to follow our noses to the nearest watering hole - and after ages of walking around we finally spotted the Owl Tree. First, Owls are generally fantastic, so we may have been biased - but it was so perfect. We made ourselves at home at the bar, the staff were great and very friendly, the other patrons were fun and gregarious, and the drinks were delectable. Not to mention, they offer free snacks (Chips & salsa, crackers, cheese and meats..) An excellent bar, one of my absolute favorite SF spots. Pros: Excellent drinks, great staff, atmosphere, people Cons: n/a more

We were immediately greeted and given bowls of yummy snacks (Gardetto's) and a wet-nap for salty fingers and drink orders taken immediately. The drinks were very good and the bartenders were friendly. The owner, Bobby, was there and we chatted with him and he is quite funny. He wound up buying us a round of drinks. We weren't ready to leave but had an early morning and had hoped to go back the next night but we ran out of steam. I'd definitely go back to this bar for a few drinks and great atmosphere. Pros: Great ambiance, good strong drinks. fun patrons and employees, very laid back Cons: Very small, may be hard to get a seat. Prices are along the li more
