The Outback Steakhouse is a superior mass market chain steakhouse offering, certainly better than local competitors like Bugaboo Creek and Longhorn. Be prepared for a wait, and be sure to bring your heart doctor along with you -- there is simply no way this stuff is any good for you!
The menu is limited but quite good. The soups appetizers are downright sinful (witness the Bloomin Onion, Cheese Fries, and creamy onion soup), and the outfit has no qualms about piling on the cheese and bacon when warranted. The steaks themselves are of respectable quality, and Outback seems to be the only chain that will actually cook you steak to order any more. That is, you can get a true medium rare. Pricing is competitive (where else can you get a full rack of lamb for under $20?) and service is generally good.
Pros: true cook-to-order, great appetizers, good for kits
Cons: crowded, limited menu, limit lunch hours
