Otani Japanese Restaurant

The variety is great, whether you want sushi or hibachi. The choice of seating areas is definitely a plus--grill area, table seating, sushi bar, or more traditional Japanese seating. Price is good and the quality of the food has always been outstanding. more

i just went there for lunch. tried 6 scallop (spicy rolls), 2 sea urchins, 2 squids and 2 elels.... plus a pop - bill came to #30. excellent service and if you sit in the bar its a pretty cool experience if you are by yourself.... i am going once a month!! more

I've been here several times with my husband and even took my mom out to dinner here. I love their Hibachi dinner! It is so delicious, especially the rice with horseradish sauce. I also love their mango ice cream filled mochi balls and green tea ice cream! I've been to other Japanese restaurants, but this is by far the best I've had. My husband whom was in the military and served 6+ months in Japan says that the food here is authentic Japanese food. He says it taste just like he remembered in Japan. They have you sit around a table and cook in front of you, including an entertaining display of tricks with the fire and while cooking. You won't be bored here while eating. I've also never been to Otani and had any other race other than Japanese cook my dinner, which is also a definite plus! more

I ate there fairly regularly. I noticed one day that one of my checks didn't match my bank statement. I called them and had them fax me the receipt. It turns out that since I only filled out the total, they TOOK ADVANTAGE of this and changed my total and filled in a new tip. Who tips 50%???? Anyway, I will no longer dine there anymore. There are plenty of comparable Sushi restaurants, if not better ones, out there. Pros: Sushi is Okay Cons: Not the best in the area. more

This place is a good value for delicious Japanese. The chefs always perform a delightful show and the food has never disappointed me. Great dipping sauces for the food. I have visited this restraurant on 3 occasions. Each a wonderful experience I can only compare to a 2 hour vacation. We ate under the traditional form. The waitress not only spoke English, but taught all of us things we didn't know about the Japanese diet, and foods. I would Highly recommend this Restraurant to anyone. You won't find more legitimate Sushi within 300 miles of Otani. Great edamame and gets better from there. It's not NYC or San Fran but if you remember where you are, Otani is a gift for the local Sushi lover. Ambiance is that of a strip mall, so don't reserve your proposal dinner here. Pros: Great Sushi, Great Edamame, Authenticity Cons: Romantic? not..., It's in a strip mall, Cleveland is not LA more
