the decoration of the salon is old and outdated ,when you just enter the place no one speaks english you think you are not in america very hard to communicate to explain what you want,considering that one of the owner of the place he is very arrogant he things he so great he does not need to talk to you or smile ,the services are just ok ,not worth the shlep for the prices they are charging are rather be in nice and friendly and welcoming place. more

Shocked at the crapy stylists that are there now. I have been going to Oscar da Silva for many years, usually when I want a nice hair cut or color done. But, all the professional, great stylists are gone! Everyone there is new and no one speaks English either! I wanted a perm done in my hair. I spoke to the owner Oscar and told him I wanted big full curls. He didn't even acknowledge my pressence like he is too good to talk to me or something. He even rolled his eyes when I specifically said, ""Big romantic curls"". I guess that annoyed him. He said $110.00 dollars which I though was high, but I was willing to pay as long as I would walk out with beautiful hair. First, the shampoo lady sucked. You want to have your head massaged and washed nicely that's part of the experience when you go to a Salon. It's about being pampered. This woman burned my scalp with hot water not once, not twice, three times! I had to tell her to lower the hot water. The whole time she's talking in Spanish to everyone and not even washing my hair good or looking at what she's doing. Then a Columbian guy did my hair. He spoke no English and did not bother to ask me if I wanted a cut or anything. He used rollers that were too small and I mentioned it to him but he said it would look like big curls when he took them out. I reluctantly tried to trust him. When he finally finished my hair was dry and frizzy. I walked in the Salon with silky, shiny good hair and left looking like I just woke up with knotty, bad smelling hair that I haven't combed in a week! It was messy, crispy waves not even curls! He didn't even cut my hair. I wanted it layered to give it body and he didn't even bother. When I told him I wan't happy with it, he just stared at me with a confused look on his face. I was so angry, I wanted to cry. There was no way I was going to pay for a smelly ugly non-perm! So I tried to talk to him but he just kept telling me to pay. I gave him 60 dollars and told him that was it! He said that was fine in Spanish and walked away from me with his nose in the air. He seemed happy with the money, because he knows he gave me an ugly crapy hairstyle! I will never go back again! more

I first heard about this fantastic duo (Oscar and Carlos) through word of mouth. I am a skeptic at heart and If you have thick, voluminous, curly, long and over processed hair like I do you would understand why. At the time, I was bride to be without a stylist for hair and make-up and less then three weeks until my wedding date. I called to make an informative appointment. To my surprise, I found a group of stylist who took the time to sit, converse and listen to exactly what I wanted by phone and in person. I made an appointment for the next day (trial date) and I was extremely happy that I did. I was also scoping out the end results of the other clients and I liked what I saw. It's now two days before my wedding and I called not only for a confirmation but also add 6 more people to the list. Not a problem! They opened especially for me at 6:30 am and had us all out and ready on time. These people are truly amazing. They showed the best teamwork ever. As a current customer of Oscar Da Silva, I use Oscar and Carlos, the service is personalized and great. Oscar is a great stylist, he consults with you and listens to what you want. Carlos is a great colorist as well. They are in tune to their clientele which is essential at a Hair Salon. I have taken numerous friends of mine and all of them rave about him and his salon. He is creative, unique in what he does...a true gem! A great benefit to the area and great also to have in the Jackson Heights Community. I've been a customer of Oscar Da Silva Beauty Salon for many years, and since day one I knew I found the place I was looking for so long. Other than being a beautiful salon, decorated with a very fine and high class taste with an ambiance of a exclusive relaxing spa, something you can not find everywhere, probably only in Hollywood where only celebrities get to go, Oscar da Silva owners and personal make me feel every time I go like the first day I walked there, always welcomed very welcomed with a warm smile and hugs, they always make me feel so comfortable that I never felt that way in any other salon before I met them. I always feel pampered like a princess. I love this place so much, that I always look forward to go, not only because I consider the people there my friends now as they always had treated me like a friend and family, but because also I feel so much at ease to let them take care of me. Ive been going to Oscar Dasilvas since its opening, making me a customer going on 11 years, and I'm planning on making it 11 more. Everyone there is so friendly, and I really feel like it is my second home. The stylists always seem to be on top of every new style, cut, trend, and color. It is amazing the amount of knowledge everyone has on making you the most beautiful you can possibly be. They feel as though every customer is potentially a walking piece of art, and also a living advertisement for the salon, so they wont let you leave until everything is perfect. I have very unmanagable hair, but everytime I go, I am given an endless amount of options for styles, and I am never bored because they always seem to surprise me with something new. I leave the salon feeling like I should be on the cover of a magazine. I really feel like I am part of a something special there and I recommend anyone who wants to be an environment like that to come down and join the family. Great Hair, Great Service, Great Friends. love this salon because of it's atmosphere, and friendly helpful staff. It's not a snooty stuckup salon, they make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I don't have a specific hairdresser because i can never make up my mind and stick to a schedual so whenever i'm in the mood or have time for a hair cut, i just walk in and make an appointment for whoever is available, i'm happy with whoever i get because i feel like they all work the same, with still keeping their own spunck to the haircut. While i'm there and i feel like getting color done or a manicure, they will fit me. I don't get upset with whoever i get becuase they all do a wonderful job. This salon is what I have been searching for!! I had disasterous to mediocre haircuts for the past year and never left fully satisfied. I ended up calling,Oscar da silva salon. The staff was super friendly and very nice (not in the fake way either). Oscar is my hairdresser hi is impresionant. I have long hair that was damage severly by my last cut . hi managed to maintain my length for the most part and gave me beautiful soft layers that framed my face and are easy to style throughout the week. hi hadn't even finished drying my hair before I made an appointment for next week to get my hair done for a party. Not only do I go, but my daughter would not let anyone touch her hair if it is not at Oscar Da Silva, make up, coloring you name we only go there. The professionalism, the personalities and respect of everyone that works there is unbeliavable, they are all very reliable and respectful, always beatufully decorated and the atmosphere is always pleasant. Due to they frequently attend Nacional and International seminaries they know how to use the best productos and the last beauty techniques.The place is clean and their customer relations are one of the many qualities in this place.
