charge the 20% tips on customer without any notice!!! 11/3/2010

I with my friends went to Osaka on Tuesday night for dinner! We couldn't find the parking space and we were waiting for more than 2 hours. I can understand these because everyone was attracted by the 50% off discount. On that day, the hosts' attitude were bad and the service was even worse. One of my friend pucked when she got home. I guess the food is not FRESH!!! The worst thing is they CHARGE 20% TIPS automatically without any notice and I tipped them extra 15% on the original price!!! I will never ever step in this DISHONEST restaurant again!!! more

My disappointness at Osaka Sushi 10/27/2010

My terrible experience at Osaka Sushi restaurant happened yesterday (10/26/10). I was very disappointed when I got there. This comment is not about overall restaurant's service, but only at the reception at front. At that time was approximately 8.00 pm, I got there with my friend. I saw so many people were waiting for table; it was busy because there is a 50% discount. I went to the hostage and asked for table for two people. The response I had accepted was ""I think you cannot; we already had too many customers, and we closed at 9.30pm."" Also, he were watching me with disparage eyes like I am a piece of _hit!!!! How can they train their employee to treat customer like this. I will never step my feet in this _ucking bad restaurant again!!!! Never!!!! more

Sushis @ OSAKA 8/8/2009

Osaka Sushi is a pleasant dining experience, overall. We go there quite often, at least once a month. It is the best sushi buffet in town too. While the food is not the BEST QUALITY, it is still very good and satisfies my taste buds. Overall great dining experience. Pros: Good, friendly service, unlimited food, Cons: not too great food besides sushi more

Me and My mom try and go here when ever we can.\r it's a all you can eat sushi bar it's awesome most places are more expensive and you only get \r a plate.I don't care what anyone else says it's great and if it is true that they have failed to health \r inspections (which I doubt )Than I don't care because the food is great and service is great \r it's a buffet no one needs service there, I rarely ever get to go and I'm finally going (hopefully)\r for my birthday And I hate seeing all this bad reviews from stupid people. Pros: Everthing more

incredible value - but a bit unrefined in some areas 3/11/2007

Osaka Sushi is what it is - a buffet that offers all you can eat sushi and assorted hot dishes. At $13.99 for lunch, you have access to plenty of assorted Nigiri sushi as well as many handrolls. The fish may not be the best, but it's still sushi grade fish. Not wanting to eat anything raw? There's a hibachi with a chef who's ready to whip up your favorites on the grill. Baked mussels, fried rice, tempura shrimp, and salads are just a sample of what else you can eat besides sushi. Did I mention it's $13.99 for lunch? \r That was my defense for Osaka. Now here's what I don't like: FIrst, the service. Sometimes the waitresses are ok, but for the most part, they are never alert and you almost always have to flag someone down to get a drink refill or a clean napkin. The hosts are especially rude! \r It's sad that when a business starts to really take off and instead of using the extra profit to hire more staff and improve the quality of the food, they instead keep the same amount of staff even though the number of customers has tripled and the food actually declines in quality because they want to save money! It's greedy and not too uncommon in Asian restaurants. I used to eat at Osaka at least once a week for lunch and when sushi's popularity increased, there became a huge lunch rush that developed. Since then, I've seen some of my favorite things on the buffet disappear only to be replaced with generic fried foods you could buy at Sam's Club or Costco. Disappointing.\r Still, I ate dinner at a sushi restaurant the other night and racked up an $110 tab between my wife and I. Osaka offers dinner for $25 a person. That includes all you can sushi, sashimi, hibachi, tempura, salads, soups, AND desserts. You can complain all you want about the sushi not measuring up to Blue Fish or Nobu, but if you're like me, and can't afford to spend $100 every time you want sushi, then Osaka Sushi will be more than sufficient. Pros: All you can eat sushi for $13.99! Cons: disappointing service - lackluster hot dishes - often crowded for lunch and understaffed more

FAILED last two health inspections, go at your own risk. 1/13/2007

I am a sushi fiend but have not been to Osaka because they have FAILED ( as in 'F', not a 'C' or a 'D', but FAILED) their last two Plano inspections. DO you know how bad a place has to be to fail TWICE? The last time was 1/6/07. Check it out and be CAREFUL!\r \r Go to cit of Planos site and see inspection scores for every eatery in Plano. Thats how I choose where my family dines out. Pros: If you want to committ suicide by sushi this is a good option Cons: If you dont want to possibly die from your dinner.....maybe not so good. more

There are better places to go 10/14/2006

There are much better Japanese restaurants in the local area, many of the small and, perhaps, without a buffet - but I would highly suggest you try one of them vs. this restaurant. We went on a Saturday around lunch time and upon entering we were told that they were having some problems and did not have all the food items available but would provide a 20% discount. After we were seated and went to check-out the food, 1/2 of the food bar (the entire hot food bar)was closed. Their sushi, salad and dessert bars were open - but there were absolutely no main entrees. What sections were open were unkept - the food line had dropped food all around and the foodtongs were very messy. The service was slow and lackluster. The sushi and rolls were middle of the road - absolutely nothing to write home about. I would highly suggest you try another restaurant. Last, the price was excessvie for the value. The weekend lunch buffet is $18.99. To add insult they applied the 20% discount ""after-tax"" vs. pre-tax - by way of saying - they applied the discount so that they could maximize their profit. In light of the number of food items that they did not have that day - this was excessively opportunistic on their part. Don't go to this restaurant - it is not worth it. Pros: Good dessert bar. Cons: Too many to list. more

Average Sushi in Abundance 8/31/2006

You will not get decent sushi here if you are looking for true sushi like from CA. If you are looking for terriyaki flavored asian food and some raw sushi then this is the place. Lunch is about $14/Dinner $25 not including drinks. Typical Chinese managed Japanese restaurant: high on volume, low on quality. If you ever have a chance to go to a ""real"" good Japanese restaurant you will know what I am talking about. Not trying to bash Chinese managed sushi places. NOTE: Some Japanese restaurants will rip you off by feeding you raw fish that they should not be selling since most Americans, especially Texans wouldn't be able to discern the quality differences. Wish everyone the best on their quest for the ultimate sushi experience. Bonzai!!!! Pros: Volume, variety Cons: Sushi quality, lacks the higher cost sushi items more

Love It 5/24/2006

I love sushi, but I am picky. So this place is 3 blocks from my office. I think - sushi buffet=yuck. But i went there for lunch anyway. It was great. Then I went for dinner and it was even better because they have sashimi on the buffet!!! Food was fresh. Service prompt (tea always full), and I ate what would have cost over $100 for $30 (with tip). I love buffets ... so i get my 2 favorites in one place. more
