Best

Try the Mexican Crunch! I really love their half price specials in Novemeber...wish they would do that every Tuesday instead of only one month a year. I would definitely go ever...

Worst

Take out. Don't eat there. Take it home and eat in front of the tube with your own booze. The service is lacking, the ambiance is just okay.

A great restaurant when you want to try something different! 12/2/2007

I am not much of one for Japanese food, but was talked into coming to Osaka Sushi. I was surprised at the variety of food they had to offer. I love their boxed meals - a little of everything. It is a small, intimate restaurant where you are treated like family. I was treated kindly and enjoyed everything I ate. I could tell there were many there that are regulars, because the workers called them by name. I would highly recommend this quaint restaurant. It's variety and friendly service make it an enjoyable eating place. more

Expencive sushi but not fresh or tasty.. 11/29/2007

Osaka is not recommended! I applied there and did the training there for a while, and I was shocked how they\r prepare their food! None of the sushi chefs are Japanese they are all Koreans, Chefs in the kitchen are of course not Japanese, they do not use gloves while they prepare their food. All the fish are vacuum sealed,\r frozen, then defrost to prepare. I was shocked when I saw a server took a bite off of the customers dirty plate!\r and how most people were working there illegally. If you are planning to go there, do not go there right before ten minutes they close, unless you want the owner to throw you a fierce look, being talked behind your back and, bad customer service. more

big surprise! 7/12/2007

I loved their special rolls. Servers were all nice and nice atmosphere! I will go back. And all fishes were super fresh. arigato osaka! Pros: huge selection of maki rolls Cons: none! more

Don't write reviews if you don't know what you're eating 4/19/2007

I was very disappointed in this restaurant because of the reviews I?ve read stating how GOOD this place was when it really should have been a Korean BBQ or a fast-food joint.\r I ate there once last week while visiting my friend. I?m a chef in New York and I know what I?m talking about. THIS IS NOT A JAPANESE RESTAURANT. None of the chefs or the servers were Japanese. Servers were wearing Jeans and god knows what that Happi coat was.\r My friend had a cold beef teriyaki combination with horrible presentation and tempura was a joke. Sushi was the worst. First they gave me a #2 Yellow-fin tuna (lowest possible grade tuna) and on top of that, the fiber in tuna was broken down (frozen, and or Vacuum sealed). When fish is frozen or vacuumed, it gets a watery texture and also looses flavor. Yellowtail was obviously not fresh with that artificial coloring. They had frozen vacuum packed gas-treated Yellowtail. The worst part is the TILAPIA. Tilapia is a pond-fish found in Kenya and Egypt. This fish SHOULD not be used in Sushi, however, cheap sushi restaurants point these of as Red snapper which is a completely different fish house. It was a good example of what sushi bars should not be. Most armatures probably won?t see but, there is a difference in Japanese and Korean cuisine. I had never seen a Korean bbq and Japanese sukiyaki together in so called Japanese Restaurant. I would rather had Burger King than that.\r Please don?t write reviews if you don?t know what you?re eating. Don?t say its authentic if you don?t know the culture. Japanese cuisine, traditionally is supposed to exenterates the NATURAL flavor of the theme ingredient by keeping it simple and artistic; not killing the flavor using spicy sauces, that?s Chinese and Korean food. Nothing in that place was authentic and food did not taste good except miso soup.\r \r That place needs to be kept a secret. :)\r Pros: location, it was by my hotel. Cons: everything i stated. more

Best kept secret in utah 4/1/2007

I can say Osaka offers the most largest selection of sushi rolls among all those sushi restaurants in utah. And Osaka's roll is THE BEST. I tried all Japanese restaurant in downtown salt lake and so far Osaka has the closest taste of authentic Japanese sushi. Ingredients are always fresh and food always taste exceptional and presented beautifully. Welcoming staff, cozy atmosphere is another plus, too. Definitely Osaka is the best kept secret in utah. more

I am a regular at Osaka- it's been almost a year. I have always satisfied with their service, and also the food. The strength about this restaurant is that they have lots of selections of sushi rolls(If you know how to eat sushi, definately try Osaka. The food is very authentic) The variety of the food+quality makes our family always happy. Our favorite food in this area! Pros: Authentic Japanese food with wide selection more

decent food horrible service! 1/1/2006

I used to be a regular at Osaka since 2002. After my last visit I will never return. The service I received was beyond terrible. Took 20 minutes just to get a menu and I never got my meal chicken dinner box after 30 minutes of my girlfriend getting hers. Went up front to ask and they told me it would not be coming at all. After complaining and telling them I am a regular they seemed to not care. The manger on duty was not around so I will be writing a real mail letter to voice my disgust. In the end I will be taking my money elsewhere. Pros: decent food Cons: horrible service, management more
