Ortega's Restaurant

Is this place freaking crazy or what? My fiance went there to get a simple order of tortilla chips and salsa and was charged $13.77. What is wrong with this place? When I called for an explanation, I was told the small bag of tortilla chips cost $5.95 and didn't include sauce and that each container (there was 2) was $3.95 a piece. Are you kidding me, your sauce is not all that to begin with. It's watered down, and has very little flavor. I will not be going there ever again. And if you are smart, you won't go there either! I highly advise against it! more

This place sux! The most authentic thing about this place is the waiters. The tortillas are store bought, the cheese comes right out of a jar and it is outrageously over priced. I ordered a quesadilla for $8.00, worse then Taco Bell. Sure the decorations are cute, but doesnt make up for the lack of ""authentic"" or overly priced, your better off getting recipes off line and making it yourself, save a few bucks.\r more

the food was great and its one of the BEAT mexican places around here. i would so recomend it. Its a good place for up here since the food up north Stinks more

I was visiting Groton one weekend and went to city search to find a good local restaurant. After reading such fabulous reviews (probably written by the owners/waitstaff) we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was not what I expected nonetheless the food is what was important. The food was very disappointing. It was greasy, not very tasteful and very low quality. The salsa, which received a good rating from someone who wrote a previous review, tasted like a packed salsa that comes in an Oretaga all in one taco box. The thought of being sick passed both our minds. Although the margarita that we each had was decent. That might be the only compliment I could muster up. I may have been cheap but you got less than what your money was worth. Dont waste your time. Pros: good margaritas, nice wait staff Cons: not so nice atmosphere, low quality meals more

I have lived a lot of places and have enjoyed a lot of Mexican food, but this is the only Mexican Restaurant to eat at in the Mystic area- Much better than Margarita's! The staff is friendly and remember our family- the salsa is wonderful, and the chilis rellenos are FABULOUS!!!! Sopapillas are very good as well. Enjoy. Pros: quick seating, good for families, great food Cons: none! more

They are not located in the "heart" of anything but the food is really good. We have done both take out and eat in and have never been disappointed. It's a small place but well run and prices are reasonable. more

This is some of the best Mexican food around.....and they make home made tamales!! The chips are always warm and crunchy and the salsa delilcious. I have brought their food to the homes of friends who have also raved.....and agreed that it was very authentic. Bravo Orgega! WE GOT ABOUT 6 NACHOS IN A PLATE SOGGY, NO SALSA. TACO SALAD WAS BROWN LETTUCE, NO SALSA, NO SOUR CREAM NO GUACAMOLE.
