Poor Quality, Poor Service, and Way Overcharged 4/16/2014

Is this place freaking crazy or what? My fiance went there to get a simple order of tortilla chips and salsa and was charged $13.77. What is wrong with this place? When I called for an explanation, I was told the small bag of tortilla chips cost $5.95 and didn't include sauce and that each container (there was 2) was $3.95 a piece. Are you kidding me, your sauce is not that good to begin with. It's watered down, and has very little flavor. I will not be going there ever again. And if you are smart, you won't go there either! I highly advise against it! more

Best Mexican Food in CT so Far 6/15/2008

I'm Mexican, born and raised in California, though my parents and siblings were all born and raised in Mexico. I moved to CT in January, and was immediately home-sick when I found out how difficult it is to get some REAL Mexican food over here. I'd tried about 3 different places where the food was certainly NOT Mexican, or just without flavor or spice. I was pleasantly surprised, and pleased, with the food at Ortega's. I was also happy to learn that the restaurant is family-owned by a Mexican family. The food, though still slightly different from what I'm accustomed, is all great, and the only REAL Mexican food I've come across so far. more

Authentic Mexican food 8/19/2005

As a native Texan I was delighted to discover Ortega's Mexican Restaurant in Groton, Connecticut. It's owned and operated by people from Mexico/Texas, and the food is very good. The prices are very reasonable, too. When I need my enchilada fix, Ortega's hits the spot. My native Connecticut husband really enjoys their dishes, too. Open daily for lunch and dinner. more
