My niece recently held her wedding reception at Ormond Plantation. It truly was the best wedding I have ever attended and I am not the only one who felt this way. The Plantation looked beautiful for a Saturday afternoon reception. The main ballroom easily accomodated over 200 guests. Everyone had ample seating, but most of the time...the dance floor was full! The D.J. recommended by the Plantation read the crowd perfectly and EVERYONE danced. The food was outstanding from the jambalaya and gumbo to all of the appetizers. There were several bars set up. The majestic oak bar served as a gathering for many of the men. My sister & brother-in-law received so many compliments for throwing the best reception. They in turn thank Robin and her phenomenal team who executed a wonderful affair. I highly recommend Ormond Plantation for anyone's wedding reception. The food, the music, but especially the grounds made the experience so memorable. By the way, my sister even booked the photographer they recommended. The pictures are gorgeous!!!!! THANKS Ormond Plantation...My niece said and I quote, ""My reception was everything I ever dreamed of and MORE!"" more

I recently had my reception at Ormond Plantation and I can honestly say it was out of this world. The Manager Robin went out of her way to provide my bridal party and I everything that we needed. Her staff was outgoing also! Robin insisted that I should go try lunch at the plantation to decide if the chef was what everyone says he is! Let me tell you he was! As for the people who commented with negative things above you should know that the bride and groom decide on the food options. Also the soon to be bride and groom pick out their own dj... who provides microphones for them! Whenever i first started taking to robin she made my folder right in front of me, and kept it in her organizer of folders for the upcoming events!! Needless to say I was and still amazed by this place! more

We had a very small and intimate wedding. We were married in the front yard under the majestic oak and had our reception in the Carriage House. It was absolutely perfect. Our guests raved about the food and atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally helpful and accomodating. Our wedding pictures are breathtaking! more

We stopped here for lunch while touring plantations, and how neat to see the mix of customers! Well-dressed ladies for lunch right next to work-jumpsuited oil workers, all treated equally well. Our server, Laura, was fantastic. Really friendly and fun and took great care of us. It was such a neat odd mix of both casual and fancy at the same time. Crab and brie dip was outstanding, and Les Miles salad was fabulous too. I guess he is an LSU coach - I'm not into sports and not from the area so I was assuming it was a fancy French name, ""lay mee lay,"" ha ha! I was expecting this to be a stuffy uncomfortable place, but we had a great experience. Entrance door is unmarked - it is the one furthest from the parking lot on the front of the house. Worth a stop if you are in the area. more

I attended two luncheons with the same group of 30 people at Ormond Plantation. Both times I was very pleased with the flavor of the food as well as the service of the waitstaff. I enjoyed the plantation's peaceful ambience, especially the beautiful old oak trees laden with Spanish moss. Tasteful holiday decor added to the spirit of the season. I and other members of the group had very nice comments about our luncheon experiences and I'm sure will return there again. more

Thank you Robin and Chef Richard and all your staff for such a fabulous week! Our team from BP and the Prince's Foundation love to plan our stays at Ormond. We consider you our home in St. Charles Parish. Everyone goes out of their way to make everything as close to perfect as possible. This B&B/Plantation is 10 minutes from the N.O. Airport! Who knew??? We arrived after 7:30 p.m. on a Sunday night. Made a call and minutes later we were met with our keys, instructions, and a quick tour. Then we were on our own! And I do mean on our own! We were the only guests that night. Yes, a bit eerie, but also a rather fun experience. The next morning was more lively, with other staff there, too. Chef Richard prepared the BEST breakfast and chatted with me about River Road history. This a comfy place to stay in spite of it's large size. It would be fun to hear more about it! more

Robin and her staff were incredible, and prefect. On the night before the wedding we had the rehearsal dinner at Ormond Plantation afterward I and two of my bridesmaids retired into the Bridal Suite to relax and get some sleep. On the morning of my Big Day Robin and her cook made us breakfast, to make sure we could make it thru the busy day. I can’t express the joy, the pleasure, the excitement when my husband and I first saw our wedding pictures; the Plantation and the Oak Tree looked amazing. I would recommend using Ormond Plantation more

The rooms were massive & beautifully decorated with hardwood floors & massive four post beds. Our room had double doors leading onto the front veranda which spanned the entire front of the house. Sitting out on the veranda overlooking the Mississippi River in the evening, I felt like I'd stepped back in time, especially with the New Years fireworks sounding eerily reminiscent of cannon fire. We had very peaceful & relaxing stay. Unfortunately, we only had one night to enjoy the plantation, as we were just passing through on our way back home from the Christmas holiday. Ormond was one of the only plantations in the area willing to let us stay for only one night & we're glad they did because we feel like we found a hidden gem. It's not as well know as some of the other plantations in the area & therefor it was much quieter & a bargain to stay at. The owner was very helpful & accommodating. Ormond is towards the beginning of the Plantation road so it's a perfect place to start a trip to see all the Planations & it's only about 20-25 min. outside of New Orleans, so its a quick trip back into the city for the bustle of the night life. It was an overall very pleasant experience & I highly recommend it to anyone passing that way. Unfortunately, the little restaurant in the plantation was closed when we were there, so we didn't get to try the food. We'll definitely be venturing back though & hopefully for a longer stay next time. more

We had our wedding reception here and the food was fabulous. The muffalata's were great, the shrimp fettucine was fabulous, and the open bar was a hit! The DJ was also really good. The Manor itself is very beautiful however it does look like it needs a little TLC. It's a very old plantation and does need some repairs and a fresh coat of paint here and there! But great place for a reception, wedding, party, etc. more
