Over my strenuous objections, the Oregon Humane Society adopted an expensive kitten ($150) to two 18 year old boys (one of whom is my son) who lack a steady source of income. When I refused to allow the kitten to live in our home, it was decided that the cat would stay with the other young man, who will love the cat but also provide it with a steady source of second-hand pot smoke. Aggressive adoption tactics on the part of OHS staff resulted in this train wreck. Way to go Oregon Humane Society. Ending petlessness, two potheads at a time. more

Oregon Humane Society offers awesome dog training! 7/16/2010

OHS helped us so much. We have 3 special needs shelter dogs and the trainers at OHS have changed our lives. We learned so much about how to train our dogs and all the things we were doing to make the problems worse. They have classes for everything and I take as many as I can! Definitely check out their classes at their website under 'pet training' > 'dog training classes'. Reasonably priced and great facility too! Pros: Top notch dog training and pet owner education more

OHS is a worthy charity 3/28/2003

In the past six years alone I've adopted three dogs from the Oregon Humane Society. The new shelter on Columbia boulevard is pleasent for both the animals looking for a new home and the humans looking for an animal companion. The staff and volunteers make sure the person looking to adopt an animal will be able to properly care for it. If you're looking to add a dog or cat to your household the OHS should be your first stop. Pros: clean, good parking, non-euthanizing more
