These guys are great. The food is fantastic and they are amazing about handling an order where food allergies are involved. I'm allergic to sugar of all things and if I order something where they can't leave it out, I get a call and they help me find a substitute that still has the features I'm looking for (in this case I wanted shrimp and I wanted it spicy!) more

Our absolute favorite Chinese restaurant! The place has been there for over 80 years and is owned by three families that have all been working together for generations. We have been going there since we found it when we were dating over 20 years ago. We have watched one generation grow grey and another bloom into wonderful adults.\r \r It is the place we go when we need comfort food or to celebrate a semi ""special occasion"". It is home style family Chinese cooking. They make everything from scratch and not a single thing is bought frozen and then heated and served.\r \r Our favorites are: \r \r POT STICKERS! You have to try the pot stickers. They are fat and juicy and solid with a combo of herbs and ground meat. They make them fresh every morning!\r \r COMBO FRIED RICE Eat it as a meal or use it to put your food over rather than plain white rice.\r \r PINEAPPLE CHICKEN (like sweet & sour but with no green pepper or onions). Large chuncks of white meat chicken in a thick, crunchy breading covered in a tangy orange/brown colored sauce (most Chinese places seem to serve a red sauce).\r \r KUNG PAO CHICKEN Hot but not too hot lots of veggies and great thick rich sauce! If you don't like peanuts get something else.\r \r SIZZLING WOR BAR (not sure how it is spelled) mild white sauce over lots of veggies and great pieces of white meat chicken. Served on a scalding hot plate, so don't touch, let them set it down. We don't eat the chunks of crunchy rice on the bottom but some people do.\r \r MOO SHOO CHICKEN best at the restaurant because too complicated to do the whole wrappy thing at home properly. Love the plum sauce that is a tangy salty sweet that is a nice flavor with the cabbage and meat mix. A real Chinese burrito.\r \r SHRIMP WITH LOBSTER SAUCE Yummy brown sauce over large juicy shrimp. Best with the combo fried rice rather than the white rice that comes with it.\r \r If you aren't big eaters and don't want to have to take food home get 1 appetizer and split a dish because their servings are generous and we usually have food for a couple of days afterwards.\r \r Pricing is fair for the City. They don't deliver because they could never keep up. As it is, the first table when you walk in is usually stacked with the carry out orders! \r \r Kitschy atmosphere, fading oil painting murals painted directly on the walls and hasn't been remodeled in at least 40 years (maybe longer!) Parking is sometimes hard to find especially on weekends (welcome to the city~)\r \r Definitely a place to try if you like Asian. They really do a nice job. more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Chicago. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago, Chinese or otherwise. The food is not swimming in sugary sauces, which is the cardinal and most committed sin related takeout Chinese food, in my opinion. The servers are extremely kind and always remember my wife and me. I love the old school atmosphere of the building and interior. More importantly, I love the food. It's better than anywhere else in the neighborhood doing Chinese food, and frankly, I prefer it over the places I have been to in Chinatown in Chicago and in many other cities around the country. If you live in the neighborhood, this ought to be your Chinese food spot. If you don't, it's worth the trip. more

The food is great! The fried rice is delicious but the lo mein is a little dry and not that amazing. The lemon chicken and the bbq pork app is super good. It is heavier food so you only need a little to be full and the portions are big. more

The food is great especially their Egg Drop Soup! I would not do delivery that is very expensive unless you don't mind paying a $5 delivery fee. Other than that they have very good fried rice, Mongolian Beef, Great egg rolls etc. Very old school inside the restaurant. I love Chinese food this is great for kids too. more

This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. If you are pretentious about your Chinese food you will not like it. If you like a place with a nice atmosphere, good food, and good prices, and aren't full of yourself, you'd probably like it. more

You cant go wrong with Orange Garden. I find myself here three to four times a month. After discovering this place a few years ago, I do not find myself eating at many other Chinese restaurants. \r Very friendly, quick service. Pricing is very reasonable and portions are enough for two. The egg rolls are the best, especially with the hot sauce. Friends and I always get the Spicy shrimp fried rice with chicken chow mein Cantonese style. \r would most definitely recommend this place. more

Still looking for the best Chinese place near me in Chicago. I'm near Irving Parka and Kimball. I've ordered from 5 different places - this was the best. Will definitely order again! more

A quiet atmosphere with the best Chinese food I have ever had. EVER. The portions are large and delicious, the restaurant is gorgeous, albeit retro. The walls are adorned with dragon ornamentation and the ceiling with traditional chandeliers. more

Can't beat the Orange Garden for Chinese takeout/delivery! Maybe not the most authentic Asian cuisine in the city, but it's perfect if you have a craving for Americanized classics like Sweet and Sour Pork or Shrimp Fried Rice. I'm so excited that they now offer online ordering! more
