Ontario Beach Park Program

Ontario Beach is not a great place to swim. The sandy beach itself is nice to relax in, but swimming is mostly prohibited during the summer months due to high bacteria in the water. Its not a clean area of the lake to swim in and the water is usually cold. It is a nice place to picnic and go on the carousel, listen to music in the summer months during thier concert nights. The food places around the beach are nice. Parking is ample, but hard to find when an event is going on there. The park is patroled by police and for the most part is a safe place to be. The pier is nice to walk on and watch the boats go by, but its nothing compared to florida beaches. Its a nice break from the city, but if you're looking for a real beach outing, you wont find it in western ny. more

If you are looking to head to the beach and dont want to fly to florida or california you can head up to ontario beach. Sure it isnt the same but you can still spend a day at the beach. This is also where the fast ferry docks. So you can head to Toronto if you want. There are some places to get food around the beach. The water might not be that warm and the waves arent big but there is sand, volleyball, and sun(sometimes). Spend some time at the beach without flying to Florida. more
