Once Upon A Child

I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad. I sell frequently to OUAC and have good experiences every time. Yes, there are times that I bring a tub of clothes in and only get $5. But, I'm not in it for the money. I just want my kids' old clothes OUT OF THE HOUSE. The most I've gotten was $20, which was nice. Everyone who is giving a bad review needs to realize that OUAC has to make a profit. If you want to make money on your stuff, manage craigslist ads and sell it that way. But if you're simply just tired of old clothes/shoes/toys sitting around the house, make a few bucks at OUAC and be done with it. more

I am sorry and we have taken all of the reviews seriously & we have CHANGED. Made the necessary adjustments and we are a completely different store I invite you to try us again thank you for the much needed review. Thanks to the readers of Cary Magazine for voting us the Best Place to shop for childrens clothes in 2013. more

My first visit today and it will be my last. I had a large box with toys in it so I walked in to grab a cart and bring outside to my car. The owner ran after me to grab it and bring it back inside saying that carts are not allowed outside? I explained that i had a large, heavy box and she turned away and went back inside. I grabbed the box and as I struggled to get to the door noticed that she had walked away and that I had to figure out how to open the door towards me WITH the box in my hands. NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE LADY. What a shame that businesses with such incredibly awful customer service are allowed to continue operating. Consign your items elsewhere and help a business thrive that actually deserves to. Pick someone who says THANK YOU when you do business with them - folks THIS IS NOT THE STORE. more

I love the idea of consignment but Cary has some to choose from and this is not my choice. The owner is rude!!!!!! No customer service what so ever. The high racks are too high. They did not take my name brand clothes. Maybe they did not need that particular item or size but what they have on the racks are a lot of outdated, stained, worn and overpriced clothes. I can go to Childrens Place or Old Navy on Any given day and find a shirt for $5 or pants for under $10 brand new for my 4 and 7 year old but their stuff is way over priced for used. They need to realize that! The owner acts like she is so miserable there!! more

This is good b/c you can come in any time with your clothing to sell. However, they might not want most of your items anyway. Prices given were fair. Looking through their merchandise, I felt that some items were overpriced and the highest racks are way too high for your avg woman. They might as well place some step stools around, like a library, if they expect anyone to buy clothes placed on the higher racks. Kind of a grim atmosphere. The woman working there seemed nice and polite. Worth a visit if you live nearby. Pros: Some nice deals, fast turn around Cons: Racks are too high and too jammed with clothes more

I have been to this store many times because you don't need appts to bring your stuff in. I am finished doing business with this store. One of the owners - Catherine or Carolyn - I think - is so rude. She never says thank you or we appreciate your business. Acts like she is doing customers a favor by looking at your stuff. She declines stuff by saying there are spots on the clothes when there are none. I have taken the same articles back a different time and she will accept them. I made a purchase while my donations were being reviewed by her yesterday. After I completed my transaction she told me I could use my credit for the donated items for my purchases. So I asked if I could use it for what I had just purchased. She said no. It doesn't apply to ""previous"" purchases. Even though I had just bought it. I said well what if I return my purchase. She said well then it will be put in a bin and you won't be able to repurchase. So don't put it in the bin. She could have helped me but she didn't want to. She is very rigid, unwilling to work with customers, and just flat out provides crappy customer service. I am through subjecting myself to her sour demeanor. I would rather donate my items to someone who appreciates it. Perhaps she can take a lesson from Children's Orchard. They are very accommodating, pleasant, and mannerable. All things she needs to work on. Pros: Can have a good selection Cons: Owner lacks people skills more

I will NEVER return to this store. The store is a mess; the racks are so crammed full you can't browse easily. Sizes are mixed up and it's hard to find a certain style if you're looking for it (I needed sweatpants for my son; jeans, sweatpants and other pants were all jumbled together, and the rack was so full it was hard to look through). more
