Does NOT honor terms of Restaurant dot com gift certificate 9/12/2011

Beware! Although the Restaurant dot com gift certificate states, ""This Restaurant Gift Certificate does not expire"", the owner states that the gift certificate expires one (1) year from purchase date. She will only give you half of the certificate's value, a $25 gift certificate is worth $12.50. The food was OK. We will not return. \r \r more

Awful 5/9/2011

I went to Omikoshi to impress a girlfriend of mine, but instead it was an embarrassment! The Sushi smelled old, and my steak was like dog meat.. When i told the waitress my complaints she ignored me and walked away.. It was overpriced. My bill was $70 and when i put down a 100,they never came back with change! I will never come back! more

Piss Poor 5/9/2011

Nothing is fresh, the cutting techniques are poor, worst rice in the game. However the Hibachi grill is run by amateurs! My mom could do better..Be careful not to confuse them with the word teppanyaki, they call it Hibachi and any other word creates massive confusion and makes people start running in circles. This restaurant has about as much Asian cultureappreciation as I have cravings for White Castles. more

It is not really worth the time. 1/25/2011

The restaurant is ok from the outside. It has a cute pond in the front. But once you get inside, it looks worn down and old. \r \r The hostess was nice and friendly, and our waitress was sweet. She did not know much about the menu. When asked if she could get Udon without tempura, she seemed baffled. \r \r We got a spicy tuna roll and an Elizabeth roll. Both of those were realy good. The udon was also good. It was salty and smooth. The salads were your typical Japanese salads-iceberg lettuce-gross.\r \r We also got the hibachi. The meat used (steak and chicken) was rough and chewy. It had a stale boy taste. My boyfriend's scallops were also odd tasting.\r \r We liked the rolls and the noodles, but the hibachi was bad compared to others in the area. Not worth the time and money spent. more

HORRID SERVICE 10/2/2010

Service was ATROCIOUS. \r We made reservations (at 6:30)for a group of 12, 4 days before coming to the restaurant. Once arriving at the restaurant, we proceeded to wait for 30 minutes to be seated. we spoke with the hostess3 times and failed to get an appropriate response.... the first time we asked they told us they had given away our table because we were 20 minutes late (when we were all present at 6:30, with most of the party arriving between 6-6:20. the second time they told us to wait fifteen minutes. the final time i confronted them i was starting to get angry... the hostess attempted to avoid speaking with me, and kept walking away, not giving me any respect. \r once seated, the hibatchi grill-man, didnt show up until 7:45.... he was not personable and made the experience unenjoyable\r will not go back again... more

Don't do the lunch buffet 11/5/2008

The end of October 2008 my wife and I stopped in for lunch and there was a sign on the front door ""Lunch buffet is back"". We both decided to do the buffet.\r \r Omikoshi uses the standard size stainless steel pans you see at most buffet places, but the pans here were filled with less than 10% full of food, leaving most of the pan empty. It was like they couldn't afford to fill the pan with food. The food in all the pans was cold. We had to wait until they came out to refill the pans with fresh hot food to get it hot. They had diced chicken that they called ""teriyaki chicken"" that didn't have any teriyaki sauce on it. The chicken, although fresh cooked (I hope) was all dried out or cooked super well done. Another pan had japanese noodles that were also dried out and cold.\r \r They also have sushi on the buffet bar. Each different type of sushi was on it's own plate and each plate covered by a single sheet of plastic wrap. There was probably ten different types of sushi, maybe four nigiri types and the rest rolls of some type. I tried the salmon nigiri and it was pretty tasty. The rolls seemed to have been pre-made and had set for a while and the rice was already dried out and getting crunchy.\r \r My wife, who doesn't eat sushi, complained about the food not being hot to the server. She got no response or apology. But when I went to the bar to get some of the sugar coated donut rolls, the server said ""those are supposed to be cold"". Ha! like I didn't already know that.\r \r Maybe they were having a bad day but I have ate at Omikoshi about five different times over the past few years. Each time we go back the food and the atmosphere gets worse. Pros: they were open Cons: dining room was cold, food was cold, service was slow more

Filthy, inexcusable service 6/27/2007

My husband, son and I went to Omikoshi this past Sunday for lunch. Our party of 3 was seated and presented with 2 menus; the manager went to find more, but never returned with another menu. Furthermore, she came and asked for my menu (closed in front of me, while my husband was still looking at his) before we had ever ordered our meal. When I handed it to her, telling her she obviously needed it worse than I, she remarked they had only 5 menus in the restaurant! Should have been my first indication...\r \r We sat at a 4 top table next to the kitchen, near the sushi bar. Two of the four chairs had broken arms. The walls on either side of my chair were in sad shape; one had large paint chips showing plaster; the other had food splatters scattered everywhere. My husband requested an egg be added to his bowl of soup; we were informed that they didn't have any. (Though many of the sushi rolls contain egg, as well as the fried rice - but who are we to argue about a $.10 egg??) Evidently , they expected him to eat his soup with his chopsticks, because we weren't provided any other untensils. We waited nearly 5 minutes to find someone for a spoon . I was astounded at the poor service. \r \r Having said that, the sushi was beautifully presented, and tasted very good. My husband also liked the soup, though would really have preferred it with egg. We all ordered water to drink. The bill, for 4 sushi rolls, 3 orders of Nigiri, and a bowl of Udon soup (remember, 3 glasses of water) came to $60.11 (My son ate nothing ) Needless to say, though the food was tasty, I refuse to pay this kind of money to eat in a restaurant this dirty, run-down, and with such obvious poor service again. \r \r The final insult came with a trip to the ladies' room when leaving. Plaster showing through burgundy walls was unappealing, but no more so than 2 toilets with feces stuck to the bowl above water level. Where is the Management of this restaurant? SAVE YOUR MONEY, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Pros: Fresh fish, pretty presentation Cons: Dirty, broken chairs, short on menus, very pricey more

Disappointed...... 2/12/2007

My wife and I live in the coolsprings area and we eat out just about every other day so we decided to give Omikoshi a try. The atmosphere seems nice when you first step in but the grills are so small compared to any other Japanese Steakhouse we've seen so it was a little stuffy. Soup and Salad were fresh but the filet I had ordered didn't taste right. When I asked the chef what kind of beef they use, he told me that it was an Austrailian beef!!!!! (The cheapest kind of beef available) I don't even think waffle house uses Austrailian beef... For the price you pay at a steakhouse, I think I deserve a better quality of beef. Im going to stick to Shogun from now on. more

Awesome Food! But could they clean those ceilings?!! 7/31/2006

I love Omikoshi! It is certianly one of my favorite spots to dine with my husband and friends. I have tried the sushi bar and the hibachi grill and recommend both. The only complaint I have is how nasty those ceilings are. If you go, don't look up-just keep eating! Pros: Great food, great atmosphere! Awesome experience Cons: If I am paying that much, could you clean the stuff off of the ceiling? more
