First Purchase 11/19/2009

Hello, I just purchased some lemon pepper chicken and ribeyes steaks from these door to door salesmen. I have never purchased meat this way before, so I was very skeptical and I asked lots of questions and made them stand outside. I checked out the truck, the freexer, asked for id's and all that. Everything seemed legit so I let them proceed to give me the spill. \r \r They worked their business man talk very well I must say. They were not very presentable as far as attire goes, but you cannot judge a book by its cover. \r \r Long story short, I purchased the meats stated above, tried the chicken last night, cooked very well very tender although I do not like Lemon pepper, next time I will buy the plain I like to do my own seasoning. I just finished cooking the steaks- wow, right out of the vacuum sealed pack, they plumped and had a beautiful red color to them like fresh out the butcher shop meat. I seanoned and pan fried the steaks and they are to my surprise a lot more tender than my local grocers steaks which I pay more for. \r \r Bottom line. I researched the company after I purchased and they have an ""F"" with the BBB because of like 23 complaints in one year thats about one a month. Yes that is bad. Luckily for me I got some honest salemen and I got to talk to some of their reps on the phone they were very professional. The meat quality is good to the taste, but now I just have to find out its origin. I like to eat healthy and I am a fan of healthy cows!:) so I just need to find the origin of the meat because I know there technology where they can clone stuff now. :(\r \r All in all, the reviewer who said that the people giving the company five stars are fake, this is not true for me. I will give them four stars and so far I am a happy customer.\r \r Oh and I am in Spartanburg, SC. The salemen came from the branch in Greenville, SC. Pros: The salesmen Cons: None Yet more

INSIDE INFO ON MEAT COMPANIES, DONT BE A VICTIM OF SCAM!!!! 11/18/2009

after reading ALL of the reviews from start to finish (WHICH I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THAT EVERYONE TAKES THE TIME TO READ ALL COMMENTS)!!!!! I have found some info that you might be interested in. The first ""positive"" comment about this company has words such as ""family"" ""friends"" and all other so called ""positive comments"" have the same pattern, saying how they fed this S*** to their neighbors, friends, family and so on. sounds like the only REAL comments here are ALL bad reviews from concerned citizens, the linguistic pattern shows that someone who owns this company or wants to keep ripping citizens off has taken the time to put several FALSE REVIEWS about how wonderful the products and services are. If anyone does decide to make a door to door purchase here is some helpful information that could save you alot of money and hardships.\r 1. ask to see the health department permit that should LEGALLY be on the vehicle in plain site at all times along with the companies business liscense.\r 2. Ask to see their solicitors permit, it should have their name and photo ID on it and shows that they have passed a backround check and paid the proper fees to do business this way in your couny.\r 3. by law if you buy products from a solicitor or peddler they MUST BY LAW provide you with a three day buyers right to cancel contract and give you two copies of it, it MUST have the company name , mailing address, and phone number. all the info must be current and phone numer must be in working order.\r 4. be prepared to ask several questions such as where does the food come from and what is the experation date, also ask how long the company has been in business for, and if they have a legitmate website, and most of all take the time to research a door to door company by computer search, bbb, chamber of commerce and/or attorney general, all of that feedback can help you make a decision. WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU ARE REALLY BUYING AND WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM!!!!!!!!!\r \r These tips can be very helpful and remember if a company is not legal in EVERY way CALL THE POLICE AND GET A LISCENSE PLATE NUMBER AND VEHICLE DESCRIPTION!!!!\r most of all alot of complaints about this company is about SHADY WORKERS thats why the solicitors permit is very important, any person who obtains one has been through a criminal backround check for felonys and crimes and is not approved if anything is found that puts you at risk. (you could be answering your door to a murderer, rapist, child molestor, theif, ect. so make sure that the individual that rings your door bell is legit(CALL THE POLICE IF THEY ARE NOT) they are most likely tring to scam you or harm you, or rip off citizens in your city. dont let anyone rip off your community, stand up as a team to fight against the rip off companies, and remember their are legit companies out their and if they are legit they will be more than happy to SHOW THE VITAL PROOF AT THE DOOR!!!!! Also where I live it is against the health deparment laws to have a exposed freezer in the back of a truck, the freezer MUST BE enclosed with a full shelter, such as a topper over the truck bed or inside a van due to health regulations. also their must be a thermometer inside the freezer and the meat because it is frozen has to be kept at a certain temp. 20 degrees i believe because meat has enzimes that are very harmful to the body and if meat is not handled correctly tou could get really sick or even die. I have been ripped off by several door to door meat salesman so I have done my homework and even contacted my HOA in my neighborhood and eventually the horror stoped, however their is a repitable meat company that comes around now that has passed all of my tests and the meat is excellent and the service is priceless. JUST BE CAREFUL AND KNOE WOH IS WHO AND WHAT IS WHAT WHEN YOU BUY FOOD THIS WAY!!!!!!! Pros: YOU CAN CALL THE POLICE IF A COMPANY IS NOT LEGAL Cons: WASTE OF $$,BAD FOOD,ANGRY CUSTOMERS,FAKE ""POSITIVE"" REVIEWS more

Pretty good steaks 11/5/2009

I thought the grade of meat was good and I cooked these on the grill and served them to friends. Everyone else told me I was a great chef, so I guess they earned me five stars. I'll get them again when I'm trying to impress a crowd, that's for sure. Pros: I liked the texture and the taste more

You've got to try it to be a believer 11/5/2009

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little hesitant to try Omega products, but a friend of mine insisted I give them a try because he loved them. So, try them I did, and I'm really glad I did---now I always have Omega meats in my freezer, and am always prepared when company is coming or I have to feed a crowd. I would highly recommend them, and I do to my family and friends. Pros: Great food more

Keep it coming! 11/5/2009

The sales people are friendly, dependable and trustworthy. The meats we've received have been delicious, and I'm really picky. Can't imagine anyone not enjoying the service and convenience of this company! Pros: nice salespeople and good food more

These Meats Are Spoiled By Noon * Health Risk! 5/4/2009

The meat is put in a freezer with no electricity, so by the middle of the day it is spoiled, sooner in the summer. I recently quit working here because I could not knowingly sell spoiled meats to people, especially to families where kids will be eating the meat. The health dept. should regulate this dangerous scam, or better yet shut them down for safety violations.\r They truly do not care about the customer, or the freshness of the ""meat"". They will not even tell the employees where the meat comes from, we were told not to even ask or risk being fired! Please do not feed this to your family, it is NOT worth the risk..children can die from eating spolied meat! Cons: Meat is carried in a powerless freezer more

im that guy 4/30/2009

I'm they guy that answered the phone for the gentleman below, and as every one knows, there's always two sides to a story. First, I did not answer the phone with ""What do you want?"", I answered with ""Hello, can I help you?"", the same way I've answered phones for Omega the last 8 years.Second, I did try to make the customer happy by offering to exchange any product he was not satisfied with new of the same, or with something different. This is the one year guarantee that Omega gives anyone who purchases their product from any of our independent contractors, and i know for a fact this was mentioned to the gentleman below.Thirdly, the website manta com has information on over 63 million small businesses in the US, and it does state that we've been in business since 1998 and we do gross over 30 million a year in business. Sometimes people you just have to use your common sense. If you don't want it don't buy it, everything your are purchasing is laying out right in front of you before YOU decide that you want to purchase it. Any business that deals with the public is never going to be able to make everyone happy, but I can honestly say 99% of our customers are satisfied, and the other 1% you can read about below. more

Horrible Business 4/30/2009

Hate to tell you buddy, but you got screwed too. I've been a cook in outback and applebee's before and I cooked to the best of my ability and it still tasted average (not horrible, but definately not even close to omaha or restarant quality)\r \r This company is run by a couple of undeserving crooks that came up with a good idea to screw people over. The meat is very poor quality (even though they say it's restaurant quality), they are dishonest and sneaky. A three day return policy (which they don't tell you when you buy) is a joke. When I called the main office, the guy answered ""What do you want"" and refused to make the customer happy. He also boasted about how he does $30 million in business a year. They are not a 888 member either. Please, if you ever encounter Omega meats, put these bastards out of business before they screw over more people...DO NOT BUY!!!\r \r He was also very quick to point out to check the ""good reviews"" on the internet. Sounds like someones been fluffing the review sites. Pros: Dog food for a month Cons: Not really getting a good deal, meat quality, dishonest more

Dealt with Denver and Dwight, Couldn't Be Happier 4/29/2009

Anyone who claims that this company delivers low quality foods should learn how to cook! I'm sure that classes are offered at Wake Tech and are fairly accessible to the general public. That being said, I understand the reluctance of any reasonable person to deal with ""shady"" or intoxicated delivery men trying to make an extra buck--I've seen many such individuals from Omega, who tell me that they have a ""few extra"" on the truck that they are letting go at a great price. Naturally, I tell these individuals exactly how uninterested I am. Recently, however, I was surprised when the actual Warehouse Manager, Denver, and the local Route Manager, Dwight, came to my door and asked for help. They explained to me that a driver had called in today, and that his deliveries were scheduled for that evening in Rocky Mount. Denver and Dwight were planning on going to a Dave Matthews Band concert that night and had received authorization from the company's owner to let the food that the driver was supposed to deliver go out at the company's cost, while rescheduling the food's original delivery time. I was a little bit skeptical at first, but once it became apparent that I wasn't conversing with ex-convicts I was immediately put at ease. And thank goodness I was. I ended up getting nearly 250 pounds of choice rated meat for $600! I even weighed it myself. I asked Denver what the deal was with drivers stopping by and trying to sell meat (though they were clearly not meant to be salespeople and should have stuck with their primary task for the day: delivering food), and he explained that he does offer his employees bonuses for signing up first time buyers, and that such buyers often receive their food at company cost as well. The best part of the whole thing was that as an added bonus for helping them out, Denver and Dwight promised to lock me in at the company cost rate, which I have taken advantage of on several occasions! To the person below: I'm not sure how you ended up paying $10 per pound with this company, but maybe it had something to do with that specific delivery driver scamming you--you never know what an unscrupulous individual will do to make an extra buck. My experience with the managers, however, has been wonderful, and I would recommend buying from them to any of my friends and neighbors! Pros: Knowledgable, Laidback Managers, Excellent Food Cons: Some Shady Delivery Drivers more

Liers & Theifs 4/12/2009

On 4/11/09 I was visited by a sales person giving the name ""Jimmy Oxendine"" & another guy (I forgot his name, but Jimmy wrote his down along w/ a cell #). Long story short, he told me he had been stocking my neighbors accross the street (who he called by name) w/ meat for years. When I talked to the neighbor, she said they had NEVER bought meat from them, & wouldn't. Later I decided to recheck the meat he had sold me against the list of what was included in my ""beef package"". They had removed one double serving pack of meat from 4 of the 6 meat types listed. I called Jimmy's cell & left messages on his voice mail, inviting him to come back & bring his girlfriend(boyfriend?) w/ him. I've got just what they need. I doubt after reading here that it will accomplish anything good, but I'll be calling Omega meats Mon. I also plan to put a sign in my front yard addressing omega meats. BTW... here's jimmy's cell # 336 491-3401 Pros: Don't know??? Cons: Lies, & theifery more

Bought it loved it will buy it again. 3/6/2009

A rep from this company came to my house in Greensboro. I had never seen a ""truck with a freezer"" on it unless I was moving so I was a bit taken aback with the concept. He told me that he had been workin in the area and trying to get some new customers. ""ok"" . Now I am a very careful person and a strange man with a ""deal"" kinda sounded like a Scam or worse . Well, I was wrong. I spent 458.00 and I got more meat than I knew what to do with. He put it in my freezer for me ""odd but true"" i will be more than happy to deal with these ""freezer truck guys"" again as long as the deal is as good and the quality is the same. more

Great Steaks and Great Service 3/1/2009

I see many folks are writing very bad reviews and only a few are writing good ones. I can only refer to my experiences. I have ordered from Omega Meats a couple of times. If you want a good deal you have to negotiate one. They are there!!!! They showed me the meat, chicken and seafood. I got to see it with my own eyes. It looked great. I have seen similar companies that couldn't hold a candle to these. They were also great when properly grilled. I put strong emphasis on properly. If you can't cook I suppose even great cuts will turn out bad. I also tried out the customer service as I always test these departments before ordering a second time. One of the marinated chicken breasts wasn't to our liking so I called and they came out three days later and replaced what I had left with another flavor. I can't complain about that. I only wished one of the steaks wasn't tender so i could test that part of their guarantee. My wife likes hers well done and she said it almost melted in her mouth. I know my medium rare did. \r As for the salesman or delivery driver or what ever. I have had a few come by our old house that looked pretty shady. One looked as if he was walking on cloud 17. Naturally I quickly send these fellas away. The guy I buy from has always been very clean and polite. He was never pushy. I asked him about the other guys and he said the company should check the people out better before sending them out. He said he would mention my concerns to his boss. \r \r I guess all in all I will continue to order from Omega as I have had no problems. As for those folks that are disappointed, I can only advise them to learn to cook or screen who they buy from. If he looks and acts shady don't buy. Don't blame it on the company as a whole. They are quite nice folks! Pros: Quality of products and service. more

Omega Meats driver stiffed hotel! 12/3/2008

I wish there was something below one star that I could rate this company with. Their driver stayed at our hotel and stiffed us. Left with out paying $1235.00 used a phony credit card and phony telephone number. He was driving his company truck,'Omega Meats' Please be aware of this company and think before you do any business. Their associates can never stay at our hotel again. The associates name was Aubrey! Dear fellow hoteliers, ""BEWARE"". more

Expensive Dog Food 11/21/2008

Buyer Beware!!! A very pushy, rough looking, fast talking salesman (or should I say Con Artist) lied about the quality of the meat and about the company's return policy. I should have suspected something after he cut the price four times. We ate a couple of the ""ribeye steaks"" then fed the rest to the dogs. If any of these people show up at your house, tell them to get lost. Don't argue with them, and if they don't leave when asked to, call the police. Pros: They never showed up again Cons: Poor quality product, dishonest salesman, zero customer service more

Good steaks 9/17/2008

While on vacation at Holden Beach, NC a white truck with a freezer in the bed and two men pulled up beside me while walking to the local store. They said that they were selling meat and had pork, chicken, and beef. I said that I would take a look at the steaks. The steaks were flash frozen and vacuum packed. he said that for $149.00 he could give me 6-new york strips, 4 t-bones, 8 rib-eyes, 8 loin fillets, 6 sirloin strips, and 18 steak burgers. I kicked around the idea for a bit and went ahead and bought them. I paid with a credit card and kept the reciept. They called the main office right there on the spot and recieved an authorization number to my purchase so there were no double charges.(recommend that you make them do this.) The salesman wasn't dressed in a three piece suit, just a regular guy. He recommended that I cooked the steaks from frozen, but I knew that this was a bad idea(maybe why the other bad reports about the steaks-you can't grill anything from frozen- thaw out int the fridge.) I felt a little nervous about how they would taste so the next day I charcoal grilled 3 new york strips-they were great. The day after that 2 t-bones and 1 rib-eye also great. Today I grill 6 steakburgers and have no complaints about the meat so far. The t-bones and new yorks smelled as if they had been marinated while being vacuum packed(I guess the seasoned them) all of the steaks tried must have been pre-tenderized. I can't say that all experiences will be the same but this one was good. I have heard other people paying more for the same deal I got, but if you are interested don't be afraid to deal with them. I haven't had to try to contact them but haven't had a reason to. I have their Greensboro, NC # in my cell-phone because when he called to authorize sale and credit card I had him use my cell phone. Pros: didn't have to marinate steaks or tenderize them Cons: the fears of buying food from a door to door salesmen more

OMEGA MEATS 9/13/2008

Omega meats has a man named Michael working for them and there is a class action suite in Greensboro being started against him by 25 people ... he has altered papers and not delivered loads of orders after being paid by people including me... the service is poor and the people are not honest in their dealings. im not an expert on selling or delivering except behind a counter but id never do people like they have.... Pros: got a nice freezer for my money Cons: dont deliver when they say they will , dont stay in contact, and lie about perks you hav supposedly comming to you ... more
