The food at Oleana is exceptional. Everything has several layers of spices and flavors that all work amazingly well together and each bite exposes new tastes. The food is uniq...

My girlfriend and I went to Oleana for our two-year anniversary because it came highly recommended by a friend. It seems like this place lives on hype, because our experience did ...

Management/Staff are nasty 9/22/2005

I just don't get it, how does restaurant staff get so snotty? Maybe they always were. Don't they understand that I worked all week and am choose where to spend my money. I won't do it at this place again. Pros: ok food Cons: service, staff, service more

Wonderful as always!! 9/11/2005

We had another wonderful dinner at Oleana last night!! The food, decor and service were all top notch. their patio is one of the most beautiful places to have dinner in Boston. I understand the last reviewer's frustration, but as someone in the industry, I can tell you that seafood orders usually arrive on Mondays, and because of labor day, there were no deliveries at all. Not to excuse it, but if you found a restaurant that was open and had a lot of fish on Labor day, I would be suprised and a little concerned. I can't say enough good things about Oleana, it's such a find!! Pros: excellent waitstaff, great food, great atmosphere more

Fantastic food 9/11/2005

The food at Oleana was simply delicious! I had duck, a special, and my fiance had pork in a meat ball form (I forget the fancy name). The serving sizes were small, but again, the taste is decadent and it is presented very well. We had delicious [white] Sangria--I've never had it that way before. It's expensive, but it goes towards the food quality, apparently. The service was a bit slow (though polite); it is a crowded place. Definitely make reservations. Pros: Food quality Cons: Slow service more

Such a disappointment 9/7/2005

Before you make your reservation read this review since this restaurant was a complete and utter disappointment. The setting seemed great but from the beginning of the evening all signs pointed to disaster. The wine we ordered had turned and soured. The restaurant didn't stock enough food for Labor Day weekend and out of 10 entrees only 3 remained - none of the seafood dishes! The waitress forgot about us and sent the hostess out to apologize for her. They continued to run out of more dishes and we hurriedly placed our orders. The restaurant made no effort to make up for their mistakes and the worst part was when my friend spoke to the manager at the end of the $300 meal to convey our concerns and he mockingly nodded and gave no sincere response. Very, very expensive for an awful experience. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had! more

Great Restaurant for outdoor dining 8/12/2005

We ate outdoors at Oleana on a beutiful night. The food is exceptional--among the best around Boston. The service was terrific with a knowlegable server. Dessert was fantastic. I suggest that a more interesting wine list with more French, Australian and NZ wines and less Spanish and Italian wines would be an improvement. While the food is Medieterranean and terrific, better medium price wines exist than Mediterranean wines. more

Great, innovative food 6/26/2005

Oleana is a really wonderful restaurant. The food is interesting and tasty and everything we've gotten here has made both of us (with very different preferences) very happy. more

culinary oasis 7/16/2004

food and service here are fantastic! its more reasonably priced than you would imagine. the baked alaska is the best dessert i've ever had! it combines so many layers of flavor you cant believe it. the only weakness was the grilled tuna which seemed light on flavor. fried mussels were fantastic as well. try to go early and sit on the patio; its really the best around. the spicing is unusual but thats what boston needs! Pros: excellent food, great service, parking more

Expectations Met 2/11/2004

I came with very high expectations and was pleased they were met. Started with deviled eggs (with tuna). I was apprehensive about the tuna but is was a subtle undertone and delicious. The special app of spinach and feta gnocchi in basil oil was amazing. Light and perfectly toothsome. My entree was the baby sole roulade stuffed with crab in a 'raki' (i.e., anisette flavor) sauce. Again, I was apprehensive about the sauce but found it very subtle and a perfect addition. Service was attentive most of the time but later in the meal we couldn't find our waiter. Nothing so serious as to take away from the overall experience. Definetly worth the price, which I found very reasonable for the quality. Pros: Unique, subtle food, Pleasant scene Cons: , Small more

Great Meal 8/13/2003

Went there on a recent Monday night with my sister. She made the reservation, and wasn't treated with as much pleasantry as I'd expect. But our table was ready right when we arrived. Enjoyed everything we ate, the waiter recomended some nice wines for our meal, and the service was quite good. My shrimp app was wonderful and the lamb steak entree was remarkable. My sister's mussle app and chicken entree were also very nice. The chocolate frozen souffle was a fantastic ending to the meal (though another glass of port didn't hurt either). The prices are not extravagant for the quality of food. The wines are reasonable priced. Everyone in the cozy dining room seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was just a great experience. Pros: Great Food, Nice ambience, Fair Pricing Cons: Phone etiquette more

Awesome 7/21/2003

The food was incredible - get the swordfish - and the atmosphere outside on the patio was very romantic and homey. It is my new favorite restaurant in the Boston area. Pros: Romantic, Delicious, Different Menu more

Wonderful menu, service needs help 8/21/2002

Visited on a Monday night. First impression wasn't a great one - we were crammed into a corner of the patio on little elephant stools waiting for our table. The bar was *very* slow - I waited while they placed every dirty glass in the dishwasher, completely ignoring me. Once seated though, timing improved. Our waiter was very good and the menu was one of the most interesting I have seen in a long time. Appetizers, baby sole, parmesan crusted pork chop, desserts were all delicious. I don't think there's an item on the menu that would disappoint. Pros: Menu, Patio ambiance Cons: Slow bar more

good food, bad service 8/17/2002

I had a great dinner on the patio of Oleana tonight. I was very unimpressed with the service though, it almost ruined my dinner. The waitress was uninterested and continued to clank things around our table almost aggresively. She served us water with no ice (today was sweltering hot) and she promised to get info for us about the food but she never did. Its hard for me to understand why a the cook at Oleana (who obviously spent a lot of time developing the menu) would want some nasty woman delivering it with warm ""tap"" water. Pros: good food Cons: bad service more

one of cambridge's best 7/23/2002

We had a fantastic meal. The food was interesting, fresh and delicious. I know some have had bad service, but our waiter was really attentive and full of helpful suggestions. more
