My Dog Loves This Place! 9/28/2016

Do Not Use This Kennel 3/5/2016

We won’t even get into the situational details but the staff has such poor customer service and are so arrogant that they “could do no wrong”. We were promised one thing by reservation staff which check-in denied, failed to deliver on and blamed it on us. When trying to get through to a manager (there not longer is a general manager) we were told by the supervisor that the owner lives out of the area, only checks in once a month, and has disconnected her voicemail. When we finally got a call back from the owner we were told that she is too busy with getting ready to open a third location (2016). Owner is absentee according to her staff. Owner nor supervisor never bothered to address the pet care problem, just used constant argumentative diversions to further their belief that the customer is always wrong. Owner has building construction expertise-daughter of a local developer-but no customer service focus nor pet care expertise. Owner does not care to hire customer focused staff in her absence. Use a place staffed by pet care professionals. more

Overpriced, Questionable Quality, Run by Children 11/28/2012

The website clearly states the price schedule for the services they offer, which are considerably more expensive than other local providers of the same service at the same quality level. After visiting the place to check it out and going on a tour of the facility, I noticed foul odors, animal feces in the parking lot that had not been picked up, and that the little fenced in yard to let you dog go potty before going inside was littered with feces. The level of cleanliness, at least on that particular day, was not up to my standards. Lastly, the staff largely consists of college age kids between 18 and 25 and the people in charge who are in their 50 and 60s by my estimation. The check in can be a bit of a hassle with the mandatory check-in exam on your first visit that involves a young kid interviewing you about your pet's behavior, health needs, and requirements for their stay. This person is not a vet, so what exactly are they checking for and what knowledge-base are they drawing from? To catch medical issues and properly address them, I would think a certified, licensed veterinarian would be on staff to do these so-called "check-in" exams. Who better to catch something a young adult might miss, right? Also, when picking dogs up, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 calls to get your dog and their things brought downstairs to you. What in the world is the hold up? I haven't been back since my one and only less-than-stellar-experience. In short, in my own opinion, Olde Towne Pet Resort is pretentious, overrated, charges more than their services and the quality thereof can justify, overconfident, needs to better train their staff, and hire mature, responsible adults who enjoy the work and do not goof off or frequently make mistakes (as young people often do). more

Overated 4/14/2010

Pluses: Very clean facility. Friendly front desk. Cons: very overpriced. It is very clear they are primarily concerned with money. Check in is a hassle because they make you go through a ridiculous "exam" process where some tenager takes you into a room and asks you a bunch of medical questions about your dog. This makes sense for your first board but not every time. It didtn used to be that way. The report cards they give you after your stay are clearly contrived and made up by people who have not even dealt with your pet. more

Clean, Safe and my dog was healthy 12/3/2008

The Olde Towne Pet Resort in Springfield is the best kennel I've used in the Fairfax area. My beagle mix is well cared for and cines home healthy and smelling good too! Gotta love the camera so you can log on to the website and see the action. Kudos to the friendly staff. more

Great place for dogs! 3/25/2006

This has been by far the best boarding facility that I have used for my dog. The lobby is large and includes a gift shop off to one side. I was able to call up while on vacation and ask them to buy my dog a kong from the gift shop and fill it up with peanut butter every day for a treat. They require that if your dog stays for a certain number of days that he/she get a bath. Unfortunately, my dog has always smelled pretty bad when she comes home. Maybe its there shampoo? more

Very posh place for your pets! 12/22/2005

We took a tour of this lovely establishment and were amazed at the amenities. They have a little shop in the lobby, which makes it just like a hotel for humans. There is a swimming pool and a doggie day camp. However, with four dogs, the services are not affordable for our family. To send all of them to day camp would cost us $140 a day!
